SUPPLY CHAIN AND PROCUREMENT MANAGER AMERICAS 2002-Present
- Oversee and streamline procurement, customer service, logistics, and war
ehousing operations and report directly to General Managers in USA and Mexico an
d functionally to the Global Supply Chain Director in Germany. Manage procuremen
t budget worth around $185MM and act as a liaison with key suppliers of raw mate
rials, packaging, and freight services. Ensure coordination of VMI-based forecas
ting with key customers and converters (printers) while monitoring supply chain
performance and providing leadership to teams in Mexico and the USA.
- Serve as a member of the Management Committee of Treofan Americas, a mar
ket leader in the production of polypropylene packaging films that produces arou
nd 130MM lbs of polypropylene for the North American market for applications in
tobacco, confectionery, labels and other packaging applications. Treofan America
s is part of the Treofan Group based in Frankfurt, Germany, formerly part of Cel
anese.
- Supervise the Purchasing Manager and ensure efficiency in inventory mana
gement and procurement of resins, spare parts, packaging and transportation.
- Direct the Customer Service and Planning Manager in Mexico and Operation
s Manager in the USA to ensure customer service levels and planning cycles are r
espected and interact well with the Plant Manager in Mexico to resolve and revi
ew plant issues within a 24/7 operation
KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
- Played a significant role in the success of a $50MM new line investment
project in Mexico; the initiative turned around the Americaâ⠬⠢s operating performance fr
negative EBITDA in 2006 to a positive Ebitda in 2009 despite staff reduction dur
ing the same period.
- Spearheaded the seamless transfer of products manufactured only in Europ
e for North America to the plant in Mexico from around only 40% in 2002 to 98% i
n 2009, prompting the increase of sales in the USA from 12KT to around 26KT in 2
009.
- Significantly reduced inventory from 55 days to 30 days in 2009 with a s
aving of around $2MM in cash flow
- Streamlined logistics operations between Mexico and the USA, which resul
ted in decreasing transportation and warehousing costs in the USA / Mexico by 15
% between 2007 and 2009 despite a 20% volume growth.
- Unified a team of 35 people between the USA and Mexico by developing ind
ividuals to make decisions in spite of multifunctional and multicultural diversi
ty.

- Directed the implementation of European factory operating system in the
Americas. Determined the best strategy to optimize customer service and planning

in tobacco sales to Philip Morris USA by 20% due to increased production of an

- Strategized and implemented a Sales and Operations Planning structure to
bring Americas in line with European forecasting and planning ways of working.
- Primarily led sales and planning activities with Germany where 60% of pr
oducts sold in the USA in 2000 were manufactured in Europe.
