Top 5 Under 25
Have you bought your ticket to the Sixth Annual Awards Dinner? It’s June 23rd, 2011 at Snug Harbor’s Great Hall. Tickets are $85. We hope to see you there!
Due to some unforeseen time crunches we didn’t feel this exciting, and important contest received the importance, and awareness that it deserves. For that reason we are postponing the announcement of this year’s winners until September’s meeting. This will afford us a summer long push and allow us to truly recognize the best of the party’s rising stars.

County Committee Recap
By Kevin Elkins Last Wednesday, the Democratic County Committee of Richmond County held its nominating convention. The room was packed with an estimated 200 members of the county committee. With only the endorsement of the DA taking place, such a high turnout is indicative of the energy flowing through the Democratic ranks. Then again, should we be surprised by this energy? We have a strong, qualified candidate in Mike Ryan as opposed to a District Attorney who measures success by the number of press releases his offices issues, instead of the number of convictions of the children he has spared from the rampant pill epidemic. Sure enough, that measure was hit home time and time again by Mike Ryan and our elected officials. It will be up to us to carry that message forward from petitions to Election Day. In other news, club member Albert Albanese was nominated as District Leader for the 62nd district. Our sincere congratulations go out to Al, who has carried our banner so many times in past elections. He will be joining Rosemarie Cavanagh and we are looking forward to the tremendous work those two will continue to do turn the tide out there in the South Shore.

HAVE YOU PAID YOUR DUES? If you have not paid your membership dues for this year please do so at the next meeting. Dues are $10 for individuals, and $15 for couples.

Special Congratulations
In case you weren’t aware, County Headquarters has a new Executive Director, Jessica Scarcella. Jessica is a rising star in the Democratic Party having worked for Janele Hyer-Spencer as a legislative director and recently completing a stint with GMHC. For those who have had the privilege of helping out at the new County HQ we can say with certainty they were undoubtedly impressed by her knowledge and work ethic. So we’re very happy to extend congratulations to fellow club member, and Co-Chair for this year’s dinner: Jessica Scarcella!
