Finance is needed to promote or establish the business, acquires fixed assets, make
investigations, develop product, meeting day to day affairs of the company, encourage managers
to make progress and create value.

Financial Analysis is an essential step towards gaining a sound understanding of a

business, for instance, its financial strength, weakness and its financial opportunities and risk. It
is also to ascertain profit or loss during a specified period to show financial conditions of the
business on a particular date and to have control over the firm¶s property. Such analysed records
are required to be maintained to measure the income of the business and communicate the
information so that it may be used by the managers, owners and other parties.

Financial Analysis is a discipline which records, classifies, summaries and

interprets financial information about the activities of a concern so that intelligent decision can
be made about the concern.

Here the study is carried out to analyse the financial performance of HLL Lifecare
Limited. The various aspects of financial performance such as liquidity, profitability, bankruptcy
are given prior importance. The study is based on the information available from 2006-2010
annual report of HLL Lifecare Limited.

Kerala is one of the industrially backward state. This is due to the lack of
infrastructural facilities. The main reasons for the lack of infrastructural facilities are the scarcity
of funds, labour, transportation etc. Generally, public sector enterprises are running at a loss.
Even though the situations are like this, there are a few industries which are running in a
profitable manner. Amongst them, HLL Lifecare Limited is the most important one. So the study
titled ³Financial Analysis of HLL Lifecare Limited´ over the years is relevant.

HLL Lifecare Limited is the only company in the world manufacturing and
marketing the widest range of Contraceptives. Financial Analysis of HLL Lifecare Limited helps
to know the effectiveness of the financial function of the firm.The study was conducted for a
period of 45 days starting from 1st February 2011 to 17th March 2011.

Poojapura, Trivandrum. These data¶s are collected through various methods. The methods
