DEFENSIVE RULES 1. The "strong" side of an offensive formation is the side where the Tight End is lined up. If there are 2 TE's strength is the wide side of the field or the 2 receiver side. If there are no TE's, strength is wide side of field. 2. The DL will always take their assigned gap out of BASE no matter what front we are in unless a stunt is called. 3. The DE's will have outside contain responsibilty and will line up outside shade of the last man on the LOS to their side. Rocket or Laser MUST JAM the TE on every play and maintain outside leverage unless a stunt is called. 4. The LB's will have the uncovered gap to their side unless a stunt is called. S & W must flip sides. LB's MUST "re-route" anyone crossing their face. 5. The SS MUST line up on the strong side of the formation. Safeties & LB's must be aware of formations and be ready to make defensive audibles. 6. All defensive personnel must play their side of the ball and protect their assigned gaps.

DEFENSIVE LINE STUNTS Pinch - All DL take the gap to the inside of their alignment. Fan - All DL take the gap to the outside of their alignment. Twist - Stunt between N & T. Strongside DL goes 1st. Switch - DE's switch responsibilities with Strike or Whip Weak - All DL take gap to the weakside. Bull - Bull rush OL then slip to your assigned gap. Gap - Interior DL line up in assigned gap and shoot it. Tango - T & N "fan" and DE's loop to the inside. Loop - DE's crash to the inside while N & T loop outside. Axe - Ends widen and crash, no contain responsibility.

LB BLITZES Strike - Strong LB blitz to uncovered gap to their side. Whip - Weak LB blitz to uncovered gap to their side. Monster - Middle LB blitz to uncovered gap (depending on front & stunt) Bullets - Strike & Whip blitz to uncovered gaps to their side. Wam - Whip & Monster blitz. Sam - Strike & Monster blitz. Rattle - All LB's show a fake blitz. Robber - SS blitz to an assigned gap depending on front. Smash - All LB's blitz to uncovered gaps. TORO - check out of stunt
