“They have to be brought here to answer [charges]. We’re not going to be satisfied with filing a case. We want a conviction,” aniya.

“ T h e y w o u l d r eplace CSAs who had either resigned or were pirated abroad,” p a h a y a g n i PA L spokesperson Cielo Villaluna. “To avoid inconvenience to our passengers in terms of longer queues and waiting times, PAL management has started processing applications for CSAs,” dinagdag pa niya.

Muling masisimulan ng Department of Justice (DoJ) ang imbestigasyon sa pamamaslang, anang k a l i h i m s a m g a r eporter sa Maynila kahapon. “Since Aquino is a key player in the case, I would hope that he will cooperate.” “I would hope that he will tell us if PAOCTF was really involved in the case,” aniya, tinukoy ang buwag nang Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force na pinamunuan noon ni Lacson nang hepe pa siya ng Philippine National Police sa administrasyong Estrada. “He has nothing to link me to the case,” ani Lacson sa isang text message. “I don’t think Aquino will succumb to pressure and promise of a comfortable life to the point of lying heavily just to satisfy the people with ill motives against me.”
“[That’s] a tall order. [He must] prove his competency,” ani Baguio Bishop Carlito Cenzon sa himpilan ng Simbahan na Radio Veritas. Para kay Bishop Dinualdo Gutierrez ng Marbel, “That’s not attainable,” patungkol sa pangako ni G. Aquino. “He should fire and not protect his friends if [they are found guilty] of wrongdoing… he must also select competent officials,” diin ni Gutierrez. Idinagdag niya na dapat simulan ng Pangulo ang kampanya sa pinakamalalaking ahensya tulad ng Bureau of Internal Revenue at Bureau of Customs. “Talk is different from action, I want to see his actions,” hirit naman ni Antipolo Auxiliary Bishop Francisco de Leon.

Snooky’s carefree summer
By Bayani San Diego Jr.
THOSE were carefree days of innocence. Actress Snooky Serna fondly recalls shooting Elwood Perez’s Summer Love, released in 1981: “I was 14. We were all teenagers. We had no anxieties ... no attitude problems.” She and costars Gabby Concepcion, William Martinez and Maricel Soriano were in the throes of young love. It helped that the film was shot in scenic, romantic Taal, Batangas. “William and Maricel were sweethearts so they seemed cut off from the rest of us ... like they were lost in their own world,” Snooky recounts. “Gabby was courting Sharon [Cuneta]. He kept calling Sharon from Batangas.”

Identical rings
Understandably, Summer Love is close to Snooky’s heart. She remembers having said “yes” to Albert Martinez at the time of the shoot. “My parents [actors Mila Ocampo and Von Serna] accompanied me on the set. One day I asked permission to go steady with Albert. They gave me their blessing.” Brothers William and Albert later gave Maricel and Snooky identical rings during the shoot. In a lot of ways, Snooky was a true-blue Regal baby, nervously making her first tentative steps in the film. Director Perez recounts

that he taught Snooky how to jump rope on the set. Snooky explains, “I knew nothing of street games ...tumbang preso, patintero...” She had the chance to reunite with Perez and Regal producer Lily Monteverde when Summer Love was screened at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) last Saturday. The Society of Filipino Archivists for Film (Sofia) found a Umatic copy of Summer Love, believed “lost” until recently. Snooky hopes her daughters Sam, 18, and Sachi, 14, appreciated the movie. “They may find it corny, but I’m sure they can relate to it. It’s a wonderful coming-of-age film,” she says.

We all have a little of our Dads in us. I got my Dad’s outgoing nature, his being meticulous, and the way he gets so engrossed in whatever he desires. Though he has passed on, it still gives me great pride that he won the Soap Box Derby in the United States when he was a kid and that, after his wild days, he cleaned up his act and became a religious pastor. No matter how high celebs get in the success ladder, they still look up to their fathers. What better time than Father’s Day to pay homage to every one’s very first hero? *** RUFA MAE QUINTO: “My dad and I are both very jolly people, and we both have a good heart. ‘‘I think this is going to be our hardest season,” sabi ni Black matapos gupuin ng Eagles ang San Beda Red Lions, 75-56, sa final. “The more you win, the bigger the target gets on your chest. And the more people want to bring you down.” “We seem to be losing players right and left,” sabi ni Black. “Mark Tallo decided to go back to Cebu. But I think we’re deep enough to be still competitive this year.”

‘‘I don’t have that amount of money during my time. I pray and hope that people tasked to save the sport will use the money wisely. ‘‘I don’t believe that China is invincible. It can be beaten,” ani Puyat na dinala sa bansa ang

‘‘Love of country is paramount. Patriotism must be the heart and soul of our campaign,” diin ni Gonzalo ‘‘Lito” Puyat, 78, sa isang ekslusibong interbyu Lunes sa O’Sonho sa Makati City.

“We’re a resilient bunch, and we saw it,” wika ni Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki na napiling Finals Most Valuable Player matapos ang 26 puntos average. “This whole series we were down. We kept battling back. Kept believing in each other.

“I don’t think there’s any doubt after this series that Dirk has certainly earned the clout of being one of the all-time great players,” wika ni Maverick coach Rick Carlisle.

EXTRA SPECIAL

“If I would have won one early in my career, maybe I would have never put all the work and the time in that I have over the last 13 years,” ani Nowitzki. “So this feels amazing.”

‘‘IT HURTS”
"There’s no distractions that can stop me from trying to chase an NBA championship. It hurts of course. I’m not going to hang my head low. I know how much work as a team we put into it. “You can never hang your head low when you know how much work, how much dedication you put into the game of basketball when the lights are off and the cameras are not on.” “They had timely shots, they had timely offensive rebounds, they never got flustered,” ani Bosh. Reuters

“There’s no excuses. There’s no blame. Sometimes you simply come up short. All of the story lines and noise out there, that had nothing to do with this series and the outcome,” ani Miami mentor Eric Spoelstra. “But it doesn’t make it feel any easier for the guys in the locker room. It’s a special group. A lot of guys sacrificed to make this happen. It was unfortunate we just came up short. Americans, like most neutral fans, love backing the underdog and that support had an extra potency this year with the Heat being the team so many love to hate and James, for various reasons, becoming a cartoon villain.” Reuters
