Position Summary: Under the overall supervision of the PTO, and guidance and direction from the Training Manager and Program Manager the Program & Training Assistant performs a variety of office and program and training support: logistical planning, monitoring/tracking activities, Volunteer support, follow-up, research, translation (written and oral), liaison, and writing tasks. The PTA will be assigned to provide support specific program sectors and managers Volunteer Support (40%)  During a PCVs’ service, visits Volunteers to assess their integration and Volunteer support issues/needs  Represents Peace Corps at functions where Volunteers are involved  Functions as staff liaison for Volunteer committees and initiatives staff coordinators - Committees: GAD/WID ICT Youth Development Volunteer Advisory Committee Others as assigned - Initiatives:

Operation Smile Eleanor’s’ Project Others as assigned Maintains contact with the volunteers in the assigned technical sector

Program & Training Support (50%)  Manages and maintains site history files and enters site data onto the electronic database.  Facilitates the Volunteer Reporting System (VRS) in the assigned technical sectors  Responsible for doing data entry into the VIDA and maintaining VIDA files  Participates in volunteer site visits and housing identification procedures  Establishes relationships with local host agency representatives  Translates site request forms from Arabic to English and enters data electronically.  Monitors that program and training files are maintained and follow filing procedures.  Coordinates, monitors and reports on Volunteer small project funding sources: - USAID’s Small Project Assistance (SPA) funds - Peace Corps Partnership (PCP) program - Friends of Jordan (FOJ) small grants - Others as identified  Assists with routine office management tasks such as filing, copying, materials preparation, scheduling, task tracking, and monitoring of implementation activities.  Under direction of PTO, TM or PM, conducts research, assembles and formats program and training related information for dissemination to cooperating agencies and/or to Peace Corps Washington.  Maintains and develops program and training tracking tools (i.e. site visit schedules, volunteer events etc.)  Assists at training events by designing and facilitating sessions where assigned  Assists with logistics and development of all Volunteer “cycle-of-training” events, such as PSTs, ISTs and COS conferences, as well as other appropriate activities.  Serves as interpreter as needed. PC/Jordan Organizational Support: (10%) • • • • • Participates in the Duty Officer rotation and responsibilities. Actively participates as a professional member of the P&T Unit team and works closely with colleagues on new directions and policies related to programming and training. Encourages open and effective communication between P&T staff and all other staff and promote teamwork. Functions as member of the Staff of PC/Jordan for meetings, discussions, activities, and decisions which concern the relevant country program. Attends relevant meetings, seminars and conferences, in Jordan and in other countries. Participates in regional and sub-regional training conferences to maintain/improve training and management skills. Adheres to Peace Corps policies and guidelines, and advises the PMs, TM, PTO and Senior Staff on ways to improve overall operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Safety and Security: (integrated into other functions)

Immediately and without prompting reports safety incidents and/or issues which pertain to the security of Volunteers, Staff, or PC property? Also informs the PTO and CD of Volunteer support concerns.

General Safety and Security responsibilities: -Will abide by Peace Corps safety and security policies as outlined in the PC-Jordan Security Handbook -Support fully all activities carried out by PC/Jordan during an emergency. -Fulfill my roles and responsibilities per the Emergency Action Plan (EAP). -Participate in Safety and Security training events, tests or drills. -Bring safety and security related concerns or issues immediately to the attention of the Safety/Security Coordinator and/or the Country Director. -Safeguard PC/Jordan confidential and sensitive information (i.e., PCV roster, staff roster, EAP, warden cell phone numbers). -Accompany/take responsibility for my personal/official guests/visitors to PC office. Qualifications Bachelors level degree in any discipline with three years three years of progressively responsible work experience or seven years relevant experience Cross cultural communication experience Fluency, written and oral, in Arabic and English required Jordanian driver’s license required Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet tools and data management Experience and knowledge in Education or Youth Development or Special Education highly desirable Willingness to travel throughout Jordan with possible periodic overnights Ability to work independently and as a member of a team Additional Comments: SECURITY REQUIREMENTS: A background security investigation will be required for all hires. Appointment will be a subject to the applicant’s successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication.
