COMMUNITY
& CONNECTIONS
Community is the core of growth for cities and
regions. Neighborhoods thrive when residents
can start and grow businesses. The increasing
number of people working flexibly strengthens
this vitality.

Key to this success and growth is community

relationships. Launch Pad is dedicated to
helping build networks and relationships and
ensuring they are open to everyone.

Together with local partners, we are helping

IMPACT BY THE NUMBERS

MEMBER MARKERS
Research finds that coworking spaces enhance
social and professional networks. For individuals
and organizations, they boost productivity.

Job creation, financing, graduation dates, and

event production are all integral components
to our member community and key markers
we use to measure our success.

Launch Pad provides a network of resources

to help entrepreneurs, startups, and creatives
excel. With community collaborations and
professional partnerships, we provide members
with the tools to succeed and help their
businesses soar.

Together our community of members has

an outsized impact on local economies.

OUR MEMBERS
have created over 9,000 jobs through their

BELIEVERS
Everyone needs a first believer. In a world where we hear
“that won’t work” more often than “count me in,” Launch

entrepreneurial journey. From thinking through the latest
challenge to being a first customer to betting on your city,
Launch Pad knows the value of being a first believer.

We launched our Mentorship Network this year to share
the expertise of our members across Launch Pad Nation.
Within the first month of this new program, 18 mentors
in 10 cities signed up—committing a collective of 75
hours of direct mentorship.

ONE : CONNECT
In 2019, Anne Driscoll & Chris Schultz hosted weekly
Instagram Live sessions for founders to ask business
questions, receive feedback on their pitch, and get
connected to someone in Chris and Anne’s personal
network. This engaging format gave entrepreneurs a
chance to connect directly with Launch Pad’s leaders.

Our members are the architects of our communities. They create
the magic that exists at every Launch Pad and the sense of

WE
GO
LONG
In a transactional world, building relationships for the long haul seems a thing of the past. At Launch Pad, we
realize the importance of investing in ourselves, our communities, and our relationships. A conversation at
the water cooler may result in a friendship today, which could become a customer or even a cofounder
tomorrow. We believe that the most valuable thing we can give is our time and enthusiasm and that starts
by showing up and building relationships that stand the test of time.

CULTURE OF ENTREPRENEURIAL SUCCESS

WE GO LONG
INVESTING IN CITIES
Launch Pad started in New Orleans in 2009.
Since then, we’ve been shaping the local
entrepreneurial ecosystem. In May 2019,
we celebrated our ten year anniversary with
a panel of speakers who started in the space
and have now successfully grown their
organizations. This impact is what we strive
to create in every Launch Pad city.

“Launch Pad became a place for a community who

cared about each other, who hustled hard together.
Almost every one of those early Launch Pad tenants
have become leaders in the Greater New Orleans
entrepreneurial ecosystem over the past decade.”

life with a “yes” mentality, you learn to embrace new experiences, expand your

and having strong principles. Our community imbues this positive spirit through
helping each other and celebrating the wins along the way.

We believe in bringing people into our

Ambassador Program. Started at Launch Pad
Newark, this program has since expanded to
all locations where entrepreneurs and
students work to support the space in
exchange for a coworking membership. It’s a
way to build community with local universities
and new founders while also making the
space more accessible. We have had 84
participants in our Ambassador Program
across all locations.

their respective city. From day one, we work hand in hand with local leaders and do
outreach with the goal of fostering a truly diverse and inclusive space. As a team,
we at Launch Pad practice inclusivity, not exclusivity, as a core value, and reflect
that in our service to members and how we support growing communities.

We work with partners in each of our cities to ensure that
our spaces reflect the pride and soul of the local community.
At the same time, we’re building a national network of
ecosystems to ensure that communities benefit from
exchange and interaction with each other. Local communities
get stronger when they leverage their own strengths while

IMPACT STATS METHODOLOGY

This report referred to Launch Pad’s internal software systems, Proximity (current) and QuickBooks
(archived), in order to create a comprehensive list of all current and past Launch Pad member
companies across Launch Pad’s five locations (location’s opening year shown in parentheses): LP
NOLA (2009); LP Newark (2018); LP Nashville (2018); LP Memphis (2018); LP Stockton (2019).

JOB CREATION
For LP member companies with fewer than 100 employees, we referred to LinkedIn data to determine
their current employment counts. For companies with more than 100 employees or for those lacking
LinkedIn employment data, we referred to our internal audits and incorporated the average number of
LP members per company (2.07) to avoid our large corporate members disproportionately skewing
the total. The overall job creation estimate (9,008) is the result of aggregating the total employment of
LP companies within these parameters.

EARLY-STAGE CAPITAL
We segmented the list of LP member companies into a subgroup of the companies eligible to have
received early-stage capital. We then used public online resources, such as Pitchbook, Angellist, and
press releases, to determine the quantity of capital (if any) raised by each eligible company. In the
aggregated total, we evaluated each company individually and only included the capital raise amounts
of companies for which Launch Pad represented a meaningful step on their growth trajectory.

SQUARE FOOTAGE
To determine overall square footage currently occupied by Launch Pad’s graduate companies, we
used the employment totals (see above) for each former member company as a proxy to estimate
the company’s physical footprint. Data from our 2017 internal survey of LP graduates showed that
our companies went on to occupy additional office space by an average of 159.35ft2 per employee,
which aligns with national averages. We multiplied each graduate company’s employment count by
the square footage statistic (159.35ft2) and aggregated across all graduates to estimate the total
square footage that LP graduate companies currently occupy.

MEMBER DEMOGRAPHICS
The demographic statistics shared in this report come from an internal survey of our members,
conducted in Q3 2019. Members responded to a variety of qualitative questions around ethnicity,
gender, and employment characteristics. 52
