Gateway Pregnancy Center Statement of Faith
The sole basis of our beliefs is the sixty-six books of the Bible, God's infallible written Word consisting of the
Old and New Testament. We believe that it was uniquely, verbally and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, and
that it was written without error in the original manuscripts. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters
on which it speaks.

I explicitly affirm our belief in basic Bible teachings, as follows:

1. There is one true God, eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - each of whom
possesses equally all the attributes of deity and the characteristics of personality.

2. Jesus Christ is God, the Living Word, who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy
Spirit and His virgin birth. Hence, He is perfect deity and true humanity united in one person forever.

3. He lived a sinless life on earth and voluntarily atoned for the sins of men by dying on the cross as their
substitute, thus satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him alone.

4. He rose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died.

5. He ascended bodily into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father, where He, the only
mediator between God and man, continually makes intercession for His own.

6. Man was originally created in the image of God. He sinned by disobeying God: thus, he alienated himself
from his Creator. That historic fall brought all men under divine condemnation.

7. Man's nature is corrupt, and he is, therefore, totally unable to please God without regeneration and renewal by
the Holy Spirit.

8. The Salvation of man is wholly a work of God's free grace and is not the work, in whole or in part, of human
works, goodness or religious ceremony. God imputes His righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ
alone for their salvation, and thereby justifies them in His sight.

9. It is the privilege of all who are born again by the Spirit to be assured of their salvation from the very moment
in which they trust Christ as their Savior. This assurance is not based on any kind of human merit, but is
produced by the witness of the Holy Spirit, who confirms in the believer the testimony of God in His written
Word.

10. The Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal and glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ
to men. He convicts and draws sinners to Christ, imparts new life to them, continually indwells them from the
moment of Spiritual birth, and seals them until the day of redemption. His fullness, power, and control are
appropriated in the believer's life by faith.

11. Every believer is called to live so in the power of the indwelling Spirit that he will not fulfill the lust of the
flesh but will bear fruit to the glory of God.

12. Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, His body, which is composed of all men, living and dead, who have
been joined to Him through saving faith.

-7-
13. God admonishes His people to assemble together regularly for worship, for participation in ordinances, for
edification through the Scriptures, and for mutual encouragement.
14. Jesus Christ will come again to the earth, personally, visibly and bodily to establish His Kingdom. At that
time, the dead will be resurrected bodily, the believer to eternal joy with the Lord, and the unbeliever to
condemnation and endless, conscious suffering.

15. The Lord Jesus commanded all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the whole world and to disciple
men of every nation. The fulfillment of the Great Commission requires that all selfish ambitions be
subordinated to a total commitment to Him who loved us and gave Himself for us.

16. The civil government is of divine appointment for the interests and good order of human society; that
governing officials are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored and obeyed, with the exception only of the
things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the only Lord of the conscience and the coming
Prince of the kings of the earth.
17. All human life is sacred from fertilization throughout the entire natural human life that human beings are
created in His image and, as such, are to be protected; that the weak, vulnerable, infirm, handicapped, unborn
and needy deserve our respect and our care.
18. Abortion is a sin that grieves the heart of God, who is willing that none should perish. Abortion violates the
commandment ‘Thou shalt not kill’. There is no sin, including abortion, that God cannot forgive.
19. The home was the first institution God provided for man; that marriage is sacred relationship between one
man and one woman for life.

The above are doctrinal teachings on which, historically, there has been general agreement among all true
Christians.

Addendum to Gateway Statement of Faith
Additional thoughts from a Gateway Board member Thomas Hummel:

A Christian is a new creation, second Corinthians 5:17 says that “therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation
the old has gone the new has come”. A Christian is not just a better version of the person they were but an entirely new
creation and he/she is in Christ. For a Christian to lose salvation the new creation would have to be destroyed.

As Christians we are redeemed.( First Peter 1:18-19) The word redeemed refers to a purchase being made, a price being
paid. We were purchased at the cost of Christ’s death, so for a Christian to lose salvation, God would have to revoke his
purchase of the individual for whom he paid with the blood of Jesus.

A Christian is justified. Romans 5:1 says “therefore since we have been justified through faith we have peace with God
to our Lord Jesus Christ. To justify is to declare righteous. All those who receive Jesus as Savior or “declared righteous“
by God. For a Christian to lose salvation God would have to go back on his word and “on declare what he had previously
declared. Those absolved of guilt will have to be tried again and found guilty God would have to reverse the sentence
handed down from the divine bench.

A Christian is promised eternal life. “For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. John 3:16. Eternal life is the promise of spending forever in heaven
with God. God promises “believe and you will have eternal life”.

Ask Christians we are marked by God and sealed by the Spirit. “You also were included in Christ when you heard the
message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised
Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are Gods possession - to the
praise of his glory“

-8-
(Ephesians 1:13–14) at the moment of faith, the new Christian is marked and sealed with the spirit who was promised to
act as a deposit to guarantee the heavenly inheritance. So, for a Christian to lose salvation God would have to erase the
mark, withdraw the Spirit, cancel the deposit, break his promise, revoke the guarantee, keep the inheritance, forgo the
praise, and lessen his glory.

A Christian is guaranteed glorification. “Those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those
he justified, he also glorified“(Romans 8:30). According to Romans 5:1, justification is ours at the moment of faith.
According to Romans 8:30, glorification comes with justification. All those whom God justifies are promised to be
glorified. This promise will be fulfilled when Christians receive their perfect resurrection bodies in heaven. If a Christian
can lose salvation than Romans 8:30 is an error because God could not guarantee glorification for all those whom He
predestined called and justified.

Most, if not all, of what the Bible says happens to us when we receive Christ would be invalidated if salvation could be
lost. Salvation is the gift of God and gods gifts are “irrevocable“(Romans 11:29). A Christian cannot be un-newly
created. The redeemed cannot be unpurchased. Eternal life cannot be temporary. God cannot renege on His Word.
Scripture says that God cannot lie (Titus 1:2).

GATEWAY VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT FORM

As a volunteer at Gateway Pregnancy Center, I agree to:

1. Faithfully attend an evangelical church and work on growing in my faith in Christ.

2. Attend volunteer staff meetings (about 2 per year) unless prevented by the Lord.

3. Be at my weekly shift 15 minutes before the first appointment, prepared for prayer. If I cannot make it
in, it is my responsibility to have a substitute. Valid reasons for not coming in include illness, car
problems, or emergencies. If I am aware that I will not be able to be in on time, I will contact the Client
Services Director to the shift.

4. Inform the Client Services Director of any changes in my church attendance, marital status, or walk with
the Lord. This is vital only because this is a ministry which functions to serve Christ, and any problems
within the team may affect the entire ministry.

This agreement is made before the Lord for a period of six months, at which time I may elect to
discontinue my service to Gateway Pregnancy Center. This is not an agreement made to the Client Services
Director, or the Board of Gateway Pregnancy Center, but to the Lord, and I endeavor to keep it by His
ability, and not my own.

As much as possible, I will pray for the ministry, and share needs with the staff so that I may grow in my
walk and my service to Jesus Christ.

No Violence

POSITION ON NON-VIOLENCE:

Martin Luther King stated: “Violence as a way of achieving racial justice is both impractical and immoral.
It is impractical because it is a descending spiral ending in destruction for all. It is immoral because it seeks
to humiliate the opponent rather than win his understanding: It seeks to annihilate rather than to convert.
Violence is immoral because it thrives on hatred rather than love.”

OUR STATEMENT AGAINST VIOLENCE

We oppose any form of violence done in the name of the Pro-Life cause. We believe the very term “Pro-
Life” is the antithesis of violence. As Christians, we are called to abhor the sin of abortion, yet to love all of
God’s people. This is not a love that overlooks wrong. Rather, it recognizes the worth of every individual.
Christ died for the born and the unborn alike. If we offer violence and hatred, how are we any different than
the rest of the world? If we can offer the love of Christ instead, then we give those that may disagree with
us a glimpse of God.

“Shouldn’t we all take a strong stand against abortion?” Yes, that is absolutely our belief. And to Pro-
Lifers around the country, the violence at abortion facilities – the bombings and shootings – is sickening.
Yet, that violence no more negates the moral wrong of abortion occurring inside those clinics that the
violence of the Civil War negated the moral wrong of slavery, as long as innocent human beings are being
legally killed in this nation. The pro-Life movement will fight for their right to life – and we will do it
without violence.

Position on non-violence was unanimously approved by the Gateway Board of Directors on April 9th, 2003.
As per Gateway’s Tuesday, December 7th, 1999 Press Release relative to this subject.

I agree to and will honor all statements stated above. Should my doctrinal view, marital status or
church status change, I will immediately notify Gateway of the same.
