ESCAMBIA SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT BOARD OF SUPERVISORS' MINUTES June 15, 2011 Board Members in Attendance

Mrs. Anne Bennett, Mr. Dan Cain, Mr. Jeff DeWeese, Mr. Richard Freisinger, Mr. Lynn Laird. Attendees Mr. Joshua McElhaney, District Conservationist; Mr. Micah Byars, District Technician; Mr. Charlie Rosborough, OWAP. Call to Order Mr. Dan Cain called the meeting to order at 8:07am. Those present stated the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag in unison. Mr. Joshua McElhaney gave the invocation. Minutes of the Last Meeting Mr. Richard Freisinger made a motion to accept the Mays Board minutes. Mr. Jeff DeWeese seconded the motion. The motion carried unopposed. Acknowledgement of Public Notice The meeting advertisement was noted. Treasurer's Report Mrs. Anne Bennett presented the Treasurer's report. Reports Mr. Charlie Rosborough gave the Office of Agriculture Water Policy (OAWP) reports. Mr. Rosborough is retiring on June 30, 2011. Mr. Bill Bartnick is his Supervisor if someone needs to contact the OAWP. Mr. McElhaney gave the District Conservationist report. Old Business Discussion was held regarding the upcoming AFCD conference. Mrs. Bennett stated she would be unable to attend however Mr. DeWeese stated he could attend the conference. Mr. Lynn Laird made a motion to give Mr. DeWeese $350.00 to help cover expenses. Mrs. Bennett seconded the motion. The motion carried unopposed. Mr. DeWeese reported that the press release for Yoders Family Dairy was printed in the Pensacola News Journal several weeks ago. NorthEscambia would like to visit the farm for a story. Mr. DeWeese reported the Pensacola City Council will pass a resolution opposing the Conecuh Woods Landfill on June 23, 2011.

Mrs. Bennett made a motion to draft a letter to the Escambia Board of County Commissioners to join the lawsuit with Escambia SWCD Board against the Conecuh Woods Landfill. Mr. Laird seconded the motion. The motion carried unopposed. Mr. DeWeese will draft the letter. New Business Mr. DeWeese discussed the Boy Scouts Merit Badge for Soil and Water Conservation. He will contact local councils about the Board assisting with obtaining the badge. Mrs. Bennett discussed that on June 30, 2011; there will be a meeting at the University of West Floridas conference center from 9:30a 12:00p to discuss delisting and TMDL on the Perdido River. Mrs. Bennett discussed the State easing beach restoration standards as reported in the Environment News Service article. Mr. DeWeese will write a resolution opposing the changes for the review at the next Board meeting in July.

With no further business before the Board, Mr. DeWeese made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Freisinger seconded the motion. Mr. Cain adjourned the meeting at 9:42am. _______________________ Mr. Dan Cain Chairman
