Traces of Grace
Dear Fellow Parishioners: Once again, you heard the words of the Gospel and responded to the preaching of Fr. Chris Smith, representing Concern America. They asked that we not take up a second collection, but rather to listen and learn more about the work they do in the name of the Gospel. Many persons stopped by after Mass to learn more and some gave a free will offering outside after the Mass. Thank you! Together in Christ: Fr. Steve Pastor
A THANK YOU MESSAGE FROM CONCERN AMERICA On the weekend of June 12, 2011, Fr. Christopher Smith spoke at the scheduled Masses regarding the long-term development and skills-training programs of Concern America and received an exceedingly warm welcome. Parish members responded with extraordinary generosity. The gracious sum of over $7,000 has been received from St. Edward The Confessor Parish, in Dana Point. Words cannot express Fr. Christophers (and Concern Americas) heartfelt gratitude to Father Steve, the other priests, the parish staff, and to everyone at St. Edward for responding with such splendid generosity to his uncomplicated plea on behalf of brothers and sisters in the body of Christ, who are less economically secure. Thank you for understanding that we are all missionaries, called to manifest and to bring Gods unconditional love to others and thus to renew the face of the earth. Thank you so much for this powerful expression of living as graced members of Gods own household. May God in heaven repay you all. May the love that you have so magnificently extended to others, be returned a hundred fold to each of you. Sincerely, Denis Garvey Concern America Office Staff

IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY In one year, more than a quarter million abortions were performed by Planned Parenthood but only 414 adoption referrals were made--less than 6 for every 1,000 abortions. Income for the national office and affiliates totaled $902.8 million for the year ending 6/30/06. 34% of this amount came from us taxpayers. FUN FACTS about FANTASTIC RELIGIOUS EDUCATION STUDENTS This year some of our 4th/5th grade Religious Education students adopted a beached baby elephant seal as part of their studies in Caring for Gods Creation. They attended a field trip to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach, and learned how volunteers save ocean critters 24/7. The students pooled their $$ to help buy food & meds for their adopted baby.Skylar was rescued in Dana Point Harbor in March after becoming separated from his mother. He was 80 pounds and starving. After 3 months of love and care Skylar was healthy and ready to go back to his ocean home. We attended his release on June 11, and cheered Skylar on as he slowly made his way back into the ocean. He weighed an amazing 227pounds! We thanked God for His goodness and celebrated on the beach with a round of cheers and donuts! Great job, students! --Mrs. Gloria Fetta, Director of Family Ministries.
