World Summit Youth Award Deadline: July 15 2011 The World Summit Youth Awards encourages the active participation of young people under 30 years of age in youth-led projects in the emerging information society. The award is intended to be a global 'youth for youth' initiative for selecting and promoting best practice in e-content and technological creativity that demonstrates young people's potential to create digital opportunities. For more information, click here. Argentina's International Human Rights Prize Deadline: July 15, 2011 The Emilio F. Mignone International Human Rights Prize is the first and one of the few awards given in the field of human rights by a developing country. Established in 2007 by the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, the award recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of human rights. Fund to support Commonwealth Theme 2011 Deadline: July 15, 2011 The Commonwealth Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of a Special Grants Fund of £100,000 for Civil Society Organizations and Commonwealth Associations to undertake strategic and innovative projects that will promote the Commonwealth theme for 2011, 'Women as Agents of Change.’ For more information, click here.

Ashoka Fellow Al Harris won 2011 Buckminster Fuller Challenge UK Fellow Al Harris and his organization “Blue Ventures” has been named the winner of the 2011 Buckminster Fuller Challenge. Blue Ventures is a conservation organization that simultaneously protects marine environments while improving the standard of living in some of the world’s poorest coastal communities. Swedish Fellow Karl-Henrik Robèrt is a finalist for The Globe Sustainability Research Award Professors Göran Broman and Swedish Fellow Karl-Henrik Robèrt have been jointly nominated as finalists for The Globe Sustainability Research Award. Professors Broman and Robèrt have created a methodology for strategic sustainable development. US Fellow, Kristin Hayden, speaks in Vancouver US Fellow, Kristin Hayden, recently reported on a successful speaking engagement in Vancouver BC. The headline of the article in the Vancouver Sun was “Entrepreneurs inspired by studying abroad.” Kristin is the founder of One World Now (OWN) where students study languages that are rarely taught in U.S. public schools and participate in leadership training. The Guardian International Development Achievement Award Deadline: July 31, 2011 The Guardian International Development Achievement award is designed to recognize some of the unsung heroes of international development. These are people who have made a profound contribution for the alleviation of poverty and worked above and beyond the call of duty to make a difference in the lives of some of the world's poorest communities. Alfred Friendly Press Fellowships Deadline: August 1 2011 The Alfred Friendly Press Fellowships (AFPF) is an American non-profit, non-governmental organization that gives developing-world journalists the opportunity to work as reporters in American newsrooms. The program which runs from mid-March to September is offered annually to approximately ten professional print journalists between the ages of 25 and 35. For more information, click here. Graça Machel Scholarships Deadline: August 12, 2011 The key aim of the Graça Machel Scholarship Programme is to help provide necessary resources to women for economic, social and cultural development in the Southern African region and to develop an educated and skilled workforce that can benefit the wider community. The scholarship is for female students from Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe studying in South Africa. Open Meadows Foundation Offers Funding for Projects to Benefit Women and Girls Deadline: August 14, 2011 Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded to nonprofits working on projects designed and implemented by women and girls to promote equality, environmental justice, and financial success for women around the globe. For information, click here. Yayori Award Deadline: August 25, 2011 Yayori honors grassroots women activists from the Asian

Shuttleworth Foundation Fellowship Program Deadline: Rolling The Shuttleworth Foundation Fellowship program is enabling individuals to implement their own innovative ideas for social change in the world through both the individual Fellowship grant and an enabling support structure with a network of social change agents. For more information, click here. Mama Cash Deadline: Rolling Mama Cash supports groundbreaking initiatives by women who strive to strengthen women's rights worldwide. By financing women's self-initiated projects in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, the Netherlands and the former Soviet Union, Mama Cash supports the efforts of women empowering themselves and gaining influence over their own lives.
