Everyone’s Vision Petron: National Student Art Competition

A. RuLEs ANd REguLATIONs
1. Petron is present in the daily life of the Filipino. From his home-cooked breakfast at daybreak to the transportation that he uses to reach his destination, Petron fuels the Pinoy’s many journeys. Everyone’s Vision Petron is an exhibition and competition for all young and budding artists. We at Petron believe that free artistic expression remains intrinsic to nation-building. We support the Filipino artist’s unique vision and dynamic translations of Philippine culture through various forms of art that draw fellow Filipinos closer to their heritage and ultimately, to everyone. Petron believes that everyone has their own unique perspective on things and that this uniqueness can be expressed in so many different ways. That is why we created Everyone’s Vision Petron. Everyone’s Vision Petron is a competition for photographers, painters, and designers. It is also a venue for filmmakers, musicians, performance artists, art enthusiasts, and all Filipinos to converge and be one through their shared love for Philippine art and culture. 2. The competition is open to all Filipino college students and students of a tutorial art or photography. Age bracket of participants is limited to 15-28 years old only. 3. Application forms are available at participating Petron service stations and bulk plants nationwide, and at the secretariat's office c/o studio 5 designs, 28 Paseo de Roxas corner Jupiter st., Bel-Air Village, Makati City with telephone numbers (02) 8953971/75. A downloadable application form is available from our website: www.visionpetron.com. 4. Application forms must be signed by the participant's college or university dean or the art teacher of a tutorial to confirm the entrant’s current enrollment. 5. The participating student must be of good moral character. A certification of such from his/her dean or art teacher must be attached to the application form. 6. The application form must be accompanied by a duly signed affidavit, which is provided.

C. suBMIssION MEChANICs
1. Entries may be submitted to Petron bulk plants nationwide (deadline is July 18, 2011 ); or to the Project secretariat c/o studio 5 designs (deadline is July 25, 2011 ). Entries sent to the Project secretariat via the standard registered package or by courier must be postmarked July 18, 2011. 2. All entries must be properly labeled with the following: • Category (Oil/Acrylic, Watercolor/Water-based Media, T-Shirt Design) • Artist (name, address & telephone, cellular phone, or fax. nos. and e-mail address) • Title of Entry • Medium (provide a detailed description of materials used and techniques employed) • Dimensions (for Painting Category) • Dimensions /Shutter Speed/Aperture/Lighting/ISO/Type or brand of camera (for Photography Category) • Date of Completion (for Painting and T-Shirt Design Categories) / Date of Photography (for Photography Category) • Selling Price of Entry 3. All participants must submit the following documents: • Brief curriculum vitae/bio-data • Three (3) 2”x2” colored Id photos with the applicants name on the back • Sketch of the chosen subject matter • Brief description of the subject and why the artist chose it • He/she must also declare that his/her work is an original & exclusive, whether some elements of his/her painting were not copied or appropriated from a photograph, print or another painting • Fully answered questionnaire from Everyone's Vision Petron National Student Art Competition • Notarized affidavit certifying originality of entry • Certification from school dean that participant is duly enrolled in his/her school as claimed in application form 4. Participants can only submit one entry per category for the Oil/Acrylic and Watercolor Categories. Participants can submit unlimited number of entries for the Photography and T-shirt design Category. 5. All entries must be unframed, dry, properly packed, and labeled. Entries using paper must have a protective backing (corrugated board), as support and transparent cover (cellophane or plastic film). 6. There are no entry fees. 7. Failure to comply with the rules and regulations shall automatically disqualify the participant.

B. CATEgORIEs
ThIs COMPETITION hAs ThE FOLLOWINg CATEgORIEs: OIL/ACRYLIC, WATERCOLOR / WATER-BAsEd MEdIA, COLOREd PhOTOgRAPhY & T-shIRT dEsIgN WATERCOLOR / WATER-BAsEd MEdIA • The surface to be used for this category must be watercolor paper or illustration board. • The size of the artwork must not be more than 4 ft. x 4 ft. (unframed). OIL /ACRYLIC • The surface to be used for this category must either be canvas, canvas paper or wood. • The size of the artwork must not be more than 4 ft. x 4 ft. (unframed). Entries for the Painting Category will be judged according to: Rendition - 40% Overall Impact - 40% Originality - 20% COLOREd PhOTOgRAPhY • The size of the photograph must not be smaller than 8 in. x 10 in. and must not exceed 10 in. x 15 in. (unframed). • All entries must be original and must have been photographed after April 30, 2011. They must not have been previously exhibited or awarded a prize in another contest, corrected, or manipulated in any post production activity. Entrants must declare the type of camera used. digital photography is allowed. Filters may be used. Entries for the Colored Photography Category will be judged according to: Content - 50% Theme - 30% Form - 20% T-shIRT dEsIgN CATEgORY • Entries must be based on the theme. Use of any technique (silkscreen printing, hand painting, quilting, mixed media, appliqués, tie dye, distress, etc) is allowed for the execution of the design. • Entries must be executed for a white shirt (round neck and short sleeves). • For graphic design entries, only JPEG images in RGB format (and NOT CMYK) will be accepted. All images must be hi-resolution vector images. Graphic files must be given in a CD (when applicable) with the actual shirt submission. • Remember, the design must be your own original unpublished work and must not contain any third-party logos, trademarks or copyright material. Plagiarized designs are automatically disqualified. Winning designs must be “translatable” for mass production as corporate giveaway items. Entries for the T-shirt design Category will be judged according to: Originality - 30% Theme - 30% Overall Impact - 40%

d. PRIzEs
1. six (6) Grand Prize winners (three (3) from each Painting category) will each receive Php 50,000. six (6) Runners-up (three (3) from each Painting category) will receive Php 20,000. The Photography Category will have six (6) Grand Prize winners who will each receive Php 30,000 each and three (3) Runners-up will each receive Php 15,000 each. The T-shirt design Category will have three (3) Grand Prize winners who will each receive Php 30,000 each All Grand Prize winners will also get trophies and plaques made by National Artist and Chairman of the Board of Judges Napoleon V. Abueva. All Runners-up will get trophies.

2. The school or museum-based class of the Grand Prize winners of the painting category will receive a special gift from Petron Corporation. 3. All qualified participating artists will be given a Certificate of Appreciation. 4. Only after the exhibition can non-winning artworks be retrieved by the artist /photographers or his/her authorized representative from the exhibit venue. Artworks not retrieved after October 30, 2011 will become the property of Petron Corporation. As regards to those picking up artworks at the bulk plants, a written document is needed to formalize the request. All letters must be postmarked between October 1-30, 2011. A no-request, no pick up policy will be strictly implemented. 5. All winning artworks/photographs become the property of Petron Corporation and may be used by Petron Corporation for any and all legal purposes, which includes but not limited to mass production for corporate giveaways. 6. Previous winners, who are of good academic standing, are encouraged to participate. Two-time Grand Prize winners of previous Petron student art competitions are disqualified from joining. 7. Employees of Petron Corporation and studio 5 designs, Inc., including their relatives up to the second degree of consanguinity and/or affinity are disqualified from joining the contest. 8. Non-winning artworks/photographs may be sold under the 70% - 30% arrangement (exclusive of tax) between the artist/ photographer and Petron Corporation. 9. All decisions of the Board of Judges shall be final and cannot be appealed.
