INFORMATION SHEET FOR ADMISSION TO B.Tech. / B.Arch. PROGRAMMES UNDER DASA SCHEME FOR THE YEAR 2010-2011 The candidates who got admission into B. Tech. / B.Arch. programmes of National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli UNDER DASA SCHEME FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2010-2011 are requested to report at the institute for Registration and Hostel allotment as per the schedule given below. 1. 2. Location of the Institute NIT-Trichy is located about 22 km from Tiruchirappalli Junction / Central Bus stand on the TrichyThanjavur Highway. Trichy is also well-connected to the other cities of Tamil Nadu, southern Karnataka and Kerala through private charter buses. One can get buses from Trichy to almost any part of the state, due to its geographical location in the center of Tamil Nadu. The central bus station runs long distance services to major cities of the State and South India such as Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Bangalore, Erode, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupathi. The simplest and most economical way to reach NIT-Trichy is by bus. Any city Bus at Tiruchirapalli Junction will take you to the central bus stand. Board Thanjavur bound mofosil or route bus. The journey time from Trichy will be around 40 minutes. The executive way of reaching NIT-Trichy will be hiring a taxi. Taxis may charge around Rs.300/-. Trichy is connected by road to Chennai (320 km) and to all major towns in South India by regular bus services. Tiruchirappalli is an important junction on the Southern Railway. It connects Chennai, Thanjavur, Madurai, Tuticorin, Tirupati, Rameswaram, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Cochin and Mangalore. It has an international airport, and is connected with Chennai (Madras), Singapore, Colombo, Kuwait, Sharjah, Calicut. Indian Airlines connects Trichy with Chennai, Sharjah, Calicut Kuwait and Colombo. Air Lanka Service connects Tiruchirappalli with Colombo.

4. Documents to be brought by the candidate at the time of admission The Originals of the following documents have to be brought at the time of reporting for admission: 1. Admission offer cum fee receipt issued by NITK. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 10 standard / Matriculation or equivalent certificate in original. Original mark sheet and Pass certificate of the qualifying examination. Original School Leaving / Transfer Certificate from the Institution last attended. Original Character and Conduct Certificate from the Institution last attended. Character and Conduct Certificate from a Gazetted Officer issued after November 30, 2009 for candidates who have passed the qualifying examination in years prior to the current academic year i.e., 2009-2010. Gap certificate (applicable for candidates who have passed the qualifying examination in years prior to the current academic year i.e., 2009-2010) duly signed by Public Notary or any other competent authority from the respective states. Medical Fitness Certificate from the competent authority (a Govt. Medical Officer not below the rank of Asst. Surgeon) including test for communicable diseases. Passport and VISA in original to prove the eligibility of DASA candidature. 3 copies of recent passport size photograph and one stamp size photograph.

Note: Attested copies (two numbers of each by a gazetted officer) of the above certificates are to be brought at the time of admission. Candidates are advised to keep sufficient number of attested copies of mark lists and other certificates for their future use, if any, since all the original certificates submitted to NIT Tiruchirappalli at the time of admission will be retained in the Institute till the completion of the B.Tech. / B.Arch. programme. All the original certificates of the candidates will be retained in the institute till the completion of the B.Tech./ B.Arch. programme or on withdrawal of admissions. Candidate must be present in person along with parent / authorized guardian for taking admission at NITT. Admission in absentia (proxy) will not be allowed even on medical grounds. If the candidate does not report on the above mentioned date and time, his/her admission is likely to be cancelled. 2

5. Fee to be paid at the time of registration. Institute DASA candidates : Other than SAARC Countries Other than Tuition fee US $ 4000 paid at NITK - Rs.8800 For SAARC Countries Other than Tuition fee US $ 2000 paid at NITK - Rs.8800 (Demand Draft drawn in favour of THE DIRECTOR, NIT, TIRUCHIRAPPALLI, payable at Tiruchirappalli) Hostel DASA candidates : Rs.15000/- (Demand Draft drawn in favour of The Chief Warden, NIT, Tiruchirappalli, payable at Tiruchirappalli)

Note: Candidate shall bring two separate Demand drafts (one for Institute fee, other for Hostel fee)

6. General Information 1. Hostel Facilities: Separate Hostel facilities are available for boys and girls. 2. Banking facility: State Bank of India (SBI) branch is functioning in NITT, Campus. (Bank Branch Code: 1617). ATM(s) facility is also available. 3. Dress Code Boys : All the boy students should come for formal dress in the class rooms & computer labs, preferably pant and shirt. Wearing T-shirts and other informal dress in the class rooms is strictly prohibited. Girls : All the girl students should come for formal dress in the class rooms & computer labs, preferably saree or churidhar with dupata. Wearing Tshirts and other informal dress in the class rooms is strictly prohibited.
