Purse Organizer Sewing Instructions

1.

Cut 2 coordinating fabrics or matching fabrics to 2 matching rectangles measuring 8 wide by 28 long, making sure to cut along the grain of the fabric.

2.

Cut 2 pieces of fusible interfacing to the same dimensions and iron to the WRONG side of the fabric pieces.

3.

Cut 1 rectangle of cotton batting to the same dimensions.

4.

Place fabrics together, RIGHT SIDES facing.

5.

Place cotton batting onto the WRONG SIDE of either side of the interfaced fabric. Pin through all thicknesses.

6.

Sew around the edges through all thicknesses, using seam allowance, making sure to leave an opening large enough to turn the fabric (about 3).

(this is the short end) 7. Clip corners and trim cotton batting around edges, being careful not to trim the opening.

8.

Turn right side out, pushing out the corners with a dowel or similar tool.

9.

Iron flat, turning in the excess at the opening, pinning closed.

10.

Top stitch around the edge, closing off the opening.

11.

Fold lengthwise so that one side is 1 shorter than the other. Pin in place. If the fabric buckles when you fold it, work the excess into the fold and pin in place.

12.

Mark off with pins the desired width of each pocket, based on what you want it to hold.

13.

Top stitch along edges and along pocket markings.

14.

Fill and fold!
