the ‘Clarissa’, has meanwhile been launched 5 February 2000. The earlier completions of the yard for the same shipowner are known as HCC3000 and HCC4000 type ships, featuring a relatively very large cargo cubic capacity and designed for the carriage of forest products and with very good icebreaking performance. Most of these ships

are fitted with a gantry crane and tweendeck hatch covers. The HCC5000 type vessel is an enlarged and complete new design. Design Parameters The newly developed HCC5000 type vessel features the following design parameters: – high cubic intake; – two completely symmetrical holds designed for forest products and optimised for container transport; – high service speed versus optimal fuel consumption; – optimum hull form in relation to speed and sea conditions;

The ‘Claudia’ is the first unit completed in a series of four identical ships, type HCC5000, of which the last unit will be delivered in January 2001. The ‘Claudia’, built under yard number 904, is the eleventh vessel built by Niestern Sander for account of Wijnne & Barends since 1991. The 12th unit, the second vessel in the series,
