Buried in a flurry of orders

Snowy weather had customers reaching for a phone for food

People still have to eat. And when the weather turns unpleasant, many want their food delivered. Area restaurants that offer delivery tend to see an increase in sales when the weather turns ugly, as it did in the Elkhart area overnight Thursday. Between 10 p.m. Thursday and 1 p.m. Friday, at least 5 inches of snow fell locally. By mid-morning Friday, some pizza places were already frantic. All those ladies who work are ordering for their kids at home, said Mike Blough, manager of the Goshen location of Papa Johns. He brought in an extra driver and two extra kitchen and counter workers to keep up with the rush, which he says happens every time school is canceled.
