– I Semester Supplementary Examinations, September, 2008 ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS (Power Systems (High Voltage) ) Time: 3hours Answer any FIVE questions All questions carry equal marks --1. 2.a) b)

Max. Marks:60

Explain the presort trend for distribution system planning in detail. Discuss how the load growth in distribution system can be obtained. A distribution substation has an arrival peak load of 3500 kw. The total arrival energy supplied to the primary feeder circuits is 106 kwh. Find i) Arrival average power ii) arrival load factor Give a detailed analysis of square shaped and hexagonal shaped distribution substation areas. Derive `K’ constant from fundamentals for voltage drop calculation. Consider the three phase three wire 240V secondary system shown in figure.

3. 4. 5.
