-Cheers
Ahhhh August, the best month of the year
for weather in my opinion. It brings an amazing amount
of talent to the area looking to entertain all of us. Isnt it
great? I cant remember the last time so many national
entertainers performed in FM. I counted over 50 national
acts in 50 days within 50 miles this summer so far. That
has got to mean something to us here in little ol Fargo-
Moorhead.
On a business note, this summer has been
incredible so far. It has been a great time to position this company in a perfect place
in order to capitalize this fall. We worked hard on securing partnerships with large
companies around the community to expand and expose our continuing success.
Our goal is to make a great magazine and fnd people to read it. My
philosophy is to use common sense. What do I do at baseball games between
innings and pitches? I usually get boredSo why not distribute magazines on the
chairs at the FM Redhawks games. See, this makes sense to me and fgure if
can distribute my publications in more places like baseball games, then my reader-
ship is confdently going up! So, what did this summer was fnd every possible
situation that will help me achieve that goal. I am so very excited to start executing.
really hope you enjoy this August and fnd it upon yourself to get
out of your house/comfort zone and attend some of the great events, entertain-
ment, and leisure activities I published in the following pages. Once again thank
you Fargo-Moorhead for making my job easy, and helping me fnd happiness each
month.

BE NAKED AS MUCH
AS POSSIBLE.
Seriously, try to be naked as
much as you can. Clothes
were strictly designed to retain
your body heat, theres no
shame in wearing Natures
Tuxedo around to save some
cash. This will cut down on
your AC bill and give the
neighbors something to look
at. Avoid cooking for others,
leather surfaces, and anything
with an open ame and you`ll
be cooler than a cucumber in a
nudist colony.

GO SEE
COLOMBIANA
Here are two reasons why
you should see this ick: 1. It
is air-conditioned 2. It looks
incredibly bad ass. This is
going to be the movie that
you tell your friends to go
see and theyve never heard
of it before. Then when they
see it, theyre all like THAT
WAS AMAZING and youre
all I know dude! It has Zoe
Saldana (hot) and its from the
guys that did Taken (B.A), The
Professional (fantastic), and La
Femme Nikita (hot, fantastic,
and B.A.). Go see THIS movie
on August 26th and try to con-
tain your boner.

and be happy, fat ass.

FMS Band Jeez Loueez
,-LOUEEZ
ith a band name most commonly used as a phrase of excite-
ment there is no surprise this up and coming Fargo band has
the area talking and listening. The guys from Jeez Loueez
told FM Spotlight this month about what makes this band
a MUST SEE.
Band Members:
Dustin Vogel (vocals),
Trevor Pederson (bass),
Pete Johnson (guitar)
and Thomas Anderson
(Drums)
W
22
August: 13th & 14th at the Windbreak
17th Olearys (Moorhead)
September: 2nd & 3rd Big Ds
16th & 17th M & J Saloon
23rd Olearys (Moorhead)
Rock, Country and everything in between!
Whats up with your
name?
Dustin: It was Trevors
baby (idea). He had it
tucked away in storage
waiting for the right band
to pull it out for, haha. We
thought it worked because
its fun and different, and
were fun and a little differ-
ent so it suits us. Its also
pretty catchy.
What kind of music do
you play?
Trevor: We play every-
thing from Black Eyed
Peas to Rage Against the
Machine, Goo Goo Dolls
and Jason Aldean. Some
of our personal favorites
would probably be Copper-
head Road, Bad Girlfriend,
Rappers Delight, and
Shes country.
What makes Jeez Loueez
unique in the FM music
scene?
Dustin: Our personalities;
our banter. Mostly, we just
like to have a good time
and play music.. We have
a tendency to play off the
crowd a lot so each night
can call for something a
little different, but always a
good time.
Tell us a funny story!
Trevor: Haha how much
time ya got buddy?
Theres been a few nights
of broken furniture, face
drawings, sumo wrestling,
melon smashing, random
Saturn adventures
cough bathroom
accidents cough, cough.
Dont let the beards fool
you, were children.
Whats a night on the
town with Jeez Loueez
like?
Dustin: We like to go out
and check out a lot of the
other local bands; show
our support, mess with
em a bit, maybe try and
get the guys to laugh in
the middle of a song. Or
sometimes, were losers
and just sit at home and
watch live concert dvds
and play xbox. Weve all
got our own things going
on outside of the band, but
when we play, we play for
fun and because we love
to play music. Come out
whenever Jeez Loueez
unites, unless you hate
having fun.

Fargo Air Sho
A
lthough the Fargo Airsho only comes around once every two years, the hype it creates ranks with some of the top air shows in the nation. The
population of over 200,000 supports an airport that is neither too big and busy or too small and secluded. Rather, the region offers perfect condi-
tions to bring in big-name acts like the Navys Blue Angels, while still keeping the commercial airlines happily on schedule. The event is estimated
to attract over 40,000 spectators for the two day event and raise thousands of dollars for local charities. FM Spotlight interviewed Co-Chair, Dick

Dick is responsi-
ble for organizing
and assigning
duties to a com-
mittee of over
70 people. Dick
started on the
AirSho commit-
tee in the 1970s
and at the time
knew very little
about running an
air show. He was
attracted to the
event because he
was intrigued by
planes.
Does weather affect the
Fargo AirSho?
If the weather is safe for
fying conditions, the show
will go on. We always
hope for nice weather and
there seems to be a direct
relationship between the
weather and the turnout
for the event. Typically,
most air shows are done
in June and July, but since
we have a late spring,
our committee shoots for
August, which is our driest
month. The different acts
may change a bit depend-
ing on the cloud conditions
for spectator purposes.
For example, the Blue
Angels will perform a
low-show if it is cloudy
and a high-show if the
conditions are clear.
How do you pull in a
big name like the Blue
Angels?
The Blue Angels get over
400 requests throughout
the year to perform air
shows around the nation,
but they only grant 35 of
them. We have built such
a good reputation with
the Blue Angels that they
picked Fargo as their best
show of the year in 2009!
Do commercial planes
still come and go during
the AirSho?
Yes they do. We have
to stop our show while
the commercial airlines
land and take-off. Mark
Ringham, who holds the
title of air boss, serves
as the air traffc controller
of our event and speaks
directly with the pilots.
The short breaks in the
event gives people the op-
portunity to go around and
check out the displays and
maybe grab a snack at the
concession stands. Fargo-
Moorhead has a unique
situation because the
air traffc is not too busy,
but we do have a military
airfeld that allows some of
the bigger planes to fy into
the region.
Has there been any ca-
tastrophes at the Fargo
AirSho?
No, thankfully, nothing has
happened, but we always
prepare for the worst.
We work closely with the
fre department, medical
teams and other trained
professionals to ensure we
have personnel on staff
to handle an emergency.
Actually, in North American
air shows, pilots are to
be 1,500 feet away from
crowds and will never do
aerobatic manoeuvres
directly over spectators.

together to enjoy a meal
and raise money for the
community. Eventually,
this can be a $1 million
fund raiser as our Rotary
Club cooks all the lobsters
rather than having outside
vendors come in and take
the money away.
How can I participate
this year?
You can sign up to
volunteer at www.lobster-
andlefse.com or simply
by attending. Pre-sales of
seafood sand dollars will
help us gauge how many
lobsters to bring in.
Bottom line is... if we can
get 10,000 people to this
event this year, we can
raise a ton of money for
our community simply by
having a $22.00 meal and
fun with your neighbors.
What is the Lobster
and Lefse Festival?
The Lobster and Lefse
Festival started off as a
novel idea between Rotar-
ians Randy Long and Tom
Riley fve years ago.
Since then, Fargo Moor-
head AM Rotary Club has
sent Randy Long to the
Maine Lobster Festival to
discover how the largest
Lobster Festival operates
and has been diligently
putting all the pieces into
place.
The festival itself is unique
not only in the name and
the food combination, but
also in how it operates.
While most festivals
bring in food vendors, the
Lobster and Lefse Festival
will feature Rotarians and
community volunteers
cooking lobsters, preparing
lefse and deep frying other
seafood items to be sold
to the general public. This
means that the bulk of the
money raised will go right
back to Rotary projects.
Why Lobster? Why
Lefse?
As exotic as lobster is to
North Dakotans, lefse is
exotic to the rest of the
world. So perhaps the
better question to ask
is why not? Together,
the combination is so
kooky its almost hard to
believe, plus its easy to
remember.
The attention that this
unique food pairing has
attracted is proving that its
a perfect coupling.
The FM Redhawks will
have other stadium food
available for purchase for
those people who do not
like seafood or lefse.

PIONEER DAYS
Bonanzaville
is more than just a historic site that houses century-
old buildings. In fact, this museum represents the
heritage of Fargo-Moorhead and is home to the frst house ever built in the area.
Pioneer Days is an annual event that is held at Bonanzaville, which replicates
what life would be like in the valley over one hundred years ago. This is a
great opportunity to get in touch with your heritage and discover your true roots.
Historic Bonanzaville Will Take A Step Back In Time On

What are Pioneer Days?
Pioneer Days is a reproduction of what life would have
been like over one hundred years ago on the prairie. We
have many different demonstrators doing embroidery, wood-
carving and threshing along with a wide variety of live per-
formers. Come and see frst hand the history and herit-
age of our area and get a glimpse of what life would be like
when the settlers frst came here.
What is your target audience?
Mostly we are trying to target families. We want
them to come out and discover all the unique his-
tory and heritage that is out at Bonanzaville.
What is it like coordinating an event like Bonanzaville?
It has been challenging because it is hard to juggle all of the different details
that go into it and all of the people who have to be contacted for the event.
Volunteers alone equate to over 300 people! We also have to coordinate a
parade that goes through the streets of Bonanzaville and that is a huge task
by itself.
How many people come out to Pioneer Days?
Last year was a huge year for the number of people who turned out. We
estimated between 3,000-4,000 people attended the event last year and we
would like to bring in the same, if not more, this year. On top of that was the
300 volunteers who made this event possible.

Umwell I would like to think you would know? Are you sure he isnt just metro sexual?
Meaning likes to dress nice, enjoys feminine things, but ultimately wants to be with a woman. Only
you can answer these questions. When the obvious is gone in the relationship, then perhaps its
time to move on. If you catch him enjoying Eat Pray Love, pedicures and tight jeans more than
