Position Title: Accountant Group: Water For People Date: 25 July 2011 Supervisors Title: Regional Manager, South America

Scope of Responsibilities: The Accountant will contribute to the necessary activities for the development, implementation, and operation of Water For Peoples program in Peru (located in Trujillo) and its Regional Office (located in Arequipa). The Accountant will be responsible for the programs accounting and some of the staffing activities, and contribute to office administrative tasks. As necessary, s/he may assist the partners of Water For PeoplePeru as may be needed. S/he will serve as liaison with auditors and the accounting department of Water For People in Peru. S/he will support the development of financial and human resource policies and procedures, based on Water For Peoples global guidelines, but specific to Peru. Water For People expects its staff to adopt a collaborative management style, but ultimately to make necessary decisions. Specific Duties: Maintain the accounting system of Water for People-Perus two offices (Trujillo and Arequipa) consistent with financial regulations rules, policies and procedures. Conduct monthly financial reconciliation, and prepare routine financial reports as needed. Prepare monthly salaries and ensure that all deductions such as personal taxes, medical insurance and CTS) are paid within permissible time. Pay bills (cash or checks), and ensure that they are unquestionably supported by vouchers, invoices, or cash sales. Conduct bank reconciliation activities, daily bookkeeping, and related administrative tasks. Manage cash flow, and monitor financial control. Prepare reports as needed for Peruvian entities, including, but not limited to SUNAT and APCI. Prepare reports as needed for specific donors. Prepare financial accounts for internal and external auditing. Participate in the development of Peruvian policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, internal controls, petty cash management, purchasing, tendering, partner reporting, etc. Provide support to the Ecuador staff from a distance (entering transactions into online financial system, etc) Ensure that proper internal controls are in place and enforced. Assist the partners of Water For PeoplePeru, as needed. Serve as liaison with external auditors and finance department of Water For People in Denver. Analyze financial reports from partner organizations, as needed. Immediately report to the Country Coordinator and/or Regional Manager any deviations or irregularities that could arise. Contribute to other accounting or administrative tasks, as deemed necessary.

Job Specifics: Water For PeoplePeru will have two offices: one located in Trujillo and another in Arequipa. This position will require travel between the two offices, and the employee may also be asked to visit field sites. The normal work week is 40 hours, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 to 17:00. The contract between Water For PeoplePeru and the Financial Accountant will have a probation period of ninety days (90 days) that can be extended. It is expected that the Accountant will obey Water For PeoplePerus policies and procedures. Gross salary range between $1000-$1200/monthly, depending on experience Job Qualifications: Certified Public Accountant (Contador Publico Colegiado) -CPC Ability to travel between Trujillo and Arequipa monthly Degree in accounting and/or administration, with at least three years of experience. Fluency in English and Spanish At least three years experience working in Peru, preferably with an ENIEX Computer experience and ability to access e-mails and internet services. Common sense to make judgments about a situation requiring deviations from routine tasks. Self-starter and ability to undertake tasks without intensive supervision.
