HOW TO... bE AdvENTUROUs
• Camping out is a real adventure, especially when you have to make your own shelter. Collect materials that can be recycled – cardboard boxes, string etc – and use these to create a night shelter. Sleep in it overnight with friends – but if it’s outdoors make sure it’s waterproof! • Try a nature hike Challenge yourself to find five or more mini beasts and creepy-crawlies (such as caterpillars, ladybirds, butterflies, moths or centipedes). Take a pen and paper to write down or draw what you find. If you’re feeling really adventurous, and your mum or dad isn’t too scared to go with you, why not try a nighttime hike? get your friend to lay five different foods on a plate and then taste them blindfolded. • Go on a penny hike Take a coin on a walk, decide if heads or tails is left or right, and at every junction flip the coin and follow your fate! Take photographs along the way and make a scrapbook of your adventure. For more info about Girlguiding UK, visit their website at girlguiding.org.uk
