Syphilis is on
the rise in Iowa.
Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection. It is more common
and easier to get than you might think. Early symptoms can
include a painless sore or rash, which you may not notice.
Syphilis is curable but can lead to serious health problems
without treatment. It can permanently damage the eyes,
brain, heart, and nervous system.
If you are sexually active, make sure that getting a blood
test for syphilis is part of your regular health routine.
