Toulouse (France): An exceptional city in the middle of a digital revolution
La Mêlée, one of the greatest association successes of the French Digital Economy, in the heart of the revolution for which the Silicon Valley may have been a source of inspiration. Toulouse, a wonderful city located in the South West of France is recognized in the world for being the birthplace of the aircraft manufacturer Airbus, and the European capital of industry and space applications (EADS Astrium, Thales Alenia Space, CNES, SPOT Image, CLS, LEGOS…). Maybe one day, it could become the capital of the French digital revolution. Mêlée) which has been in existence for 10 years, federating more than 450 companies from the digital sector in the area of Toulouse and organizing about fifty events per year in relation with its members’ activities. Today, this association is organizing one of the major strategic links for the digital economy in France: a permanent bridge to support a dialogue on technologies, economy, and politics with the Silicon Valley. Edouard Forzy, President of « La Mêlée » and his team, recommended and supported by Anewworld’s experts, and Michel Ktitareff a permanent correspondent in California for the economic daily newspaper « Les Echos », are preparing this strategic link with enthusiasm and under time pressure, and wish to have the support of the French Government and particularly of Mrs. Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, France’s state secretary for development of the digital economy. Among the contributions to the construction of this major strategic relation between the digital economy from the Silicon Valley and the one represented by « La Mêlée » in France, there will be on one side the first “Toulouse World Digital, Green & Space Annual Forum”, organized by Anewworld Group in April 2011 and on the other side the compilation of a white book on the convergence between space and the digital economy for which Anewworld will bring its contribution as well.

15 years; US$ 1.5 billion
Since 1995, our teams provide links between the different regions of the world, key players of the world economy, and various technological environments. In this context, we have contributed to over US$ 1.5 billion in new markets for the last few years, in particular with the strengthening of strategic cooperation between the American and the European continents. Among Anewworld’s differentiating factors, is our consultants’ ability to imagine, build and consolidate the convergence between space technologies, the green economy and the digital economy. Moreover, there is the capacity due to our international network, to provide strategic information and new ideas, collected daily from Hanoï to San Francisco. This publication, The Bridge, will be, every two months, for our customers, our partners, the community we are working for, the opportunity to learn more about major challenges, key thematic areas on which we bring strategic expertise, international depth and technological creativity. My partners Jean-Thierry Schuler, in charge of our team in Berlin, Dorian Penner, in charge of all the group with me, Christoph Heiss and Stewart Bain who manage our activities in North America, the whole team and Fanny Maurel (the Editor of this publication) hope you will enjoy reading this first issue and wish you all the best in conquering high tech markets worldwide. THE BRIDGE BETWEEN SPACE AND GREEN

ETwater, a Californian Revolution for landscape irrigation: Cisco Systems, Facebook, IBM… already are customers.
ETwater Systems is a Californian “green-tech” start-up which is specialized in the optimization of the landscape irrigation system. The company could revolutionize public gardens irrigation in France thanks to Anewworld’s support. ETwater provides its customers with an innovative system allowing them to reduce their water consumption while at the same time maximizing the plant health of their landscaped areas. This process integrates different technologies: weather data from satellite systems, horticultural information and a sophisticated set of web services and user-friendly web interface. Everyday, a server aggregates all the information and wirelessly transmits the customized and optimized irrigation schedule to a “smart” irrigation controllers, ETwater’s system is built on a web platform and consequently can be accessed from anywhere, including through an iPhone application, thereby allowing landscape managers to manage their property’s irrigation while outdoors. ETwater’s system has been demonstrated to save up to 20-50% in landscape water usage versus conventional systems. With concerns growing over water scarcity and aging infrastructure, along with increasing regulations surrounding water usage, systems such as those offered by ET Water are expected to see rapid adoption in the coming years. Among its many customers, Cisco Systems, Facebook, IBM and UC Berkeley trust ET Water and save significant amounts of water while increasing their level of control and reporting over their landscape irrigation infrastructure.
