Lifetime Advocacy & Public Affairs has supported the act for 13 years, since it was originally introduced to Congress by Rep. DeLauro in 1996, and continues to advocate for its passage. Marcia Cross and Jewel have publicly advocated for the bill's passage on behalf of Lifetime. Through SAVE Schools from Violence, Alliances take the same conflict resolution activities they use in shelters into the schools. SAVE Schools from Violence has intensified the efforts of Alliance members, who have "adopted" schools nationwide. The SAVE-A-Shelter program provides much-needed local support for domestic violence shelters across the country. State and county alliances plan fund-raisers; supply toiletries, sheets, pajamas and over-the-counter medications; make physical improvements to the shelters; and teach conflict resolution skills to families living in the shelters. The SAVE program has been recognized by two U.S. Presidents, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. SAVE Today serves as a day of action opportunity, when medical families across the country work together to reduce violence in their community. The AMA Alliance is organized in 40 states and 400 counties in the U.S. Many local alliances use SAVE Today to launch a wide variety of SAVE projects, such as working with a local school or shelter. Alliance members have developed more than 700 anti-violence programs, including mentoring programs, teen hotline cards and mental health screenings at health fairs and schools.

******************************* The RESPECT! CampaignSM is a social action campaign to promote respect in relationships and increase awareness about the positive role everyone can play to help end and prevent relationship violence and abuse. It Listen in each Thursday at 12 noon CST starts with something everyone can do: Give Respect to others. Unlike many other problems in society, the Family Violence Prevention Fund believes there are concrete solutions to preventing dating abuse, domestic and sexual violence, and child abuse. Parents, teachers, coaches and mentors are living breathing role models who shape young people’s lives, and in doing so, can help shape a world free of relationship violence. By arming them with the tools and information they need to help children build and grow healthy, mutually respectful relationships throughout their lives, we can usher in an era of renewed responsibility and together, we can we can prevent and end relationship violence. We want to create a society that values respect in relationships, because healthy relationships, do in fact, keep us healthy. The RESPECT! Campaign is a multi-year initiative supported by Macy’s, the national founding partner and exclusive retailer of the official RESPECT! bracelet. The RESPECT! Bracelet is an inexpensive but meaningful way to show that you care about the cause. The faux leather bracelet is available in select Macy’s stores across the country for only $5, with half of the proceeds from each sale benefiting the Family Violence Prevention Fund.
