Which sea do skeletons swim in? The dead sea. Mia, nine

YOUR REVIEW
Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver Wolf Brother is the stunning beginning to the series set in a strange stone age world. Starting with a brilliant first chapter, it plunges you straight into Torak and Wolf’s superstitious and unstable world, at threat from a demon bear. I recommend this to anyone aged between nine and 13 because every emotion is magnified 10 times to make you carry on reading all night long. Helen, 12

THE gUARDIAN
the man looked haggard, confused and a bit like my dad, only not. the weird thing was that, about a foot out from him, tiny sparks were flaring up and vanishing, like from a sparkler. He was hovering about a foot above a large brown puddle in the lane where we lived. He said, “i don’t have much time. i’m going backwards, but there’s a small loop here, so we’re moving forward in time at the same speed. you are Gordie mossman, aren’t you?” i nodded. i’d been on my way home from school. “you’re so small. amazing to think i was ever you. right. listen. this is important. don’t be afraid of ron Huff, he’ll stop bullying you soon. Weirdly, you’ll be friends at university. avoid any girls named daphne – each one’s been a disaster. you can save yourself years of laboratory missteps by remembering that time is not directional but is effectively isomorphic. When you meet elaine, she likes you as much as you like her. don’t take her to the theatre, she’s too polite to tell you she hates it. and don’t crack nuts with your teeth, you’ll break a tooth when you’re 13 that will give you years of aggravation. and –” He vanished, with a small popping noise. i ambled home, trying to work out what had just happened. i picked some nuts from a hazel bush, and cracked them with my teeth, ate the kernels thoughtfully, and wondered.
