News Letter - July 2011

Greetings to Parents and students. The new letter for the month of July is filled with details of enriching and fun filled activities Conducted during the month The details of the formative Assessment activities conducted in different subjects are as follows. English JUST A MINUTE (J.A.M)

Just a minute was an activity conducted in English for the students of class V in the month of July to enhance their speaking skills and help them give colour to their imagination and creativity. There were various topics from which each child was allotted a topic and given 5 minutes to prepare and speak in front of the class. The children were extremely excited and participated with full enthusiasm. Maths -Calculation of Consumption of Electricity Through Bill An Activity was conducted in the month of July for Class V to understand practically the use of addition and Multiplication using Electricity bills. They understood the basic calculation of the electricity unit consumed every month. Students showed their interest in participation and were happy to apply the concepts practically. This type of practical approach will be helpful in the future. Social Studies The FAs for the month of July were making latitudes and longitudes using woolen thread of different colors. In doing so, students learnt the importance of the lines on the globe and its purpose. Second activity was a write up on their favorite season along with a drawing, which helped in bringing their thoughts come alive on the paper. Students came up with some real creative ideas and it also helped them express their feelings in a joyful manner.

Science The Lesson "Health and Hygiene" were taken-up under which the activity "food check - what's in my lunch box? Was done with lots of enthusiasm. The children spoke about the nutritive values of the food. They had brought in the lunch box. Under "Safety and First-Aid the various traffic signs were made familiar to the students using charts and pictures. The activity "Just-a-minute" talking about the first-Aid given in various cases was done .Children also enjoyed making a First Aid box. Hindi

Kannada - , .

French Based on the vocabulary learned they were given different objects and asked to name them in French. They were even asked to perform actions based on the prepositions learned. (eg. Dans -in; Ensemble - together) After having grouped them in two - they were asked to address each other in French: Comment tu t'appelles? - What's your name? Je mappelle................ . My name is............ Cava? Cava +bien. How are you? I am fine.
