SYNOPSIS: This the story of the girl belonging to lower middle class who is oppressed by her step mother and step sisters. She wants to escape from that place and dreams that one day someone will come and take her away. Its her wish. One night a man does comes to her house. He convinces her that previous night she had come to shehjadas palace and later,ran away from there. And he had come to take her back to shehjada. She thinks that finally her dream has come true and she being recused by none other but by a Shehjada. She goes along with the man. But there she is thrown back to lifes reality. Her dreams of freedom are all illusions and the world is deception. The story is set in some dreamy unrealistic space.

Page 3 of 22 1 EXT/TEA SHOP/NIGHT Flames of match stick comes and the shopkeeper lights the laltern. He passes the cup of tea to a man, (Anwar Sajjad, age 30) who face is partially lit by the laltern and wet. Shop keeper: Shayar miyan, yeh adrak wali chai apke gale ko rahat degi. The poet anwar sajjad who is covered in a shawl with stub (khichadi dhadi) and spoofy eyes, smiles at this and takes the cup of tea. Drinks the first sip and then gives a melancholic smile. Slowly he murmurs. Sajjad: Koi haath bhi na milayega jo gale miloge tapak se Yeh naye mizaz ka shehar hai, zara fasale se mila karo. We see another three people holding tea in their hand and one among them is also smoking beedi. They are looking at Sajjad with expecting eyes and asks. Man 1: Sajjad saab, shayar ka sher uske mureedon ke liye hota hai. Zara hum bhi toh sune. Sajjad: Amma miyan badru, hum jaise shayar ka na din ka thik na duniya ka. Kam se kam tum jaise kuch fakkad mureed hi sahi. Man 2: Shayar miyan, bahar se toh hum bheeg hi gaye hain.kuch aisa sunao ki andar tak bheeg jayein. Sajjad : (smiles), Aaj bhi aadam ki beti huntron ki jadh mein hai. Har gilhari ke badan par dhariyan hogi zaroor. All of them praises him. Man 3: Yeh shayaron ki bhasa who hi jaane zara hamein tafteesh se batayeye. Sajjad:

Hu(deep breath, a sip of tea), toh lijeye.

INT/ROOM/EVENING INSIDE THE ROOM: We see a young (18 yrs)girl cindrella ,who is sitting on a rug in the middle of the room (dimly lit) and is making wollen balls of it again at the one corner of the room we see a jar filled with pebbles.Cindrella is encircled by the woolen ball and it appears as if she is trapped in the haphazard condition.She is knitting and there is a tinge of tears in her eyes which are bright ,she is beautiful but in rags. Suddenly the wall-clock produces an metallic sound and she looks at the wall clock,she moves from her place and gets near the window looks outside,turns and touches the Pebbles smiles a bit and with smooth steps she moves towards the door as if she doesnt want to produce any sound ,again she looks a bit frightened and looks behind so that no one will see her and knocks a cylindrical box in which there are a lot of kniting needles and it falls and spreads on the ground,she collects it in hurry and places it on the Rug,then with slow steps she moves to the gate opens it slowly and moves out. Outside at the gate: We see a dog is siting at the gate as if it is a watch dog it is really dangerous and it growls on Cindrella. Her mother and her sister can be seen at a distance they are approaching towards her,she looks frightened and runs inside the room,and she shuts the door,the dog is still barking and her heart beat is increasing,she sits on her rug,suddenly her step mother enters in side and she shouts MOTHER Kaha bhag rahi thi? subah se ek bhi kapde nahi bune tune, The step-sister comes inside and the dog has stopped barking, STEP SISTER Maa isne Monty ko mara,

MOTHER Agli Baar agar Bahgne ki koshish ki STEP SISTER (She looks at cindrella and ties to tease her),Chalo na maa humko party me jana hai. Mother gives an angry look at cindrella and both of them moves from

Page 5 of 22 there,and they bangs the door from outside She starts crying and tears roll down her cheek, V.O:kabhi woh sochti ki uski umra ek lamha hai,kaabhi sau saal SCENE 3: INT- CHAI TAPARI NIGHT We see Sajjad is narrating the story to all the people sitting nearby,there is complete silence over there V.O:jawani ki is dehleez pe uski ek tamanna hoti ki kabhi koi aayega aur use Man 1 (And he smiles)Bhagaa ke leke jayega SAJJAD Smiles , Hu.. MAN 2 To aaya koi chahnewala,koi mureed SAJJAD Tha Ek Diwaana jiske pyar karne ka Andaaz hi Anokha tha

SCENE -4 INT.CINDRELLAS ROOM NIGHT A stone comes through the window and it hits cindrella who is busy in knitting,she picks the pebble and looks to the window and smiles again,suddenly her smile is broken by the loud sound of the dog who is at the gate,she is frightened she moves near the door then again she looks at the Window and smiles and moves towards it,She moves slowly towards the window and looks outside as she has hidden herself behind the Wall,It is the same person(Sajjad)in torn clothes and he is looking at the Window,she looks at him and again hides herself totally,even we can see him. GIRLS V.O : Tum Raah me chup-chap khade to ho gaye ho, Kis-kis ko bataoge ki Ghar kyo nahi jaate Wo Deodaar Ki tehni par Ruk gaya sa chand Hawa chale to abhi karwate badal lenge Deewana is still waiting, Finally He waited for her and then he

moves from there,She also returns from the Window and puts the pebble in the vase where she has collected them in large number,She looks sad. SCENE-5 INT. TAPARI NIGHT Sajjad is lost in his thought and everyone is silent,one of the person picks the groundnut and puts it in the mouth.He is chewing it funnily, MAN 1 Toh Cindrella Deewane Ke saath nahi gayi SAJJAD Hu..Aaj tak kabhi Dewano ko cindrella mili hai,Ek to Deewana thahra fakkad jiski Zindagi Gumnami ke andhere me thi ab Cindrella ek andhere se dusre Andhere me kaisi jati. MAN 2 To phir Cindrella ki kahani khatam SAJJAD Huh(Smile),nahi Kismat Ne uske liye Ek Shahjaada Bheja,jo use Beintehaan Mohabbat karta tha,Aur Cindrella ko apne paas bulane ke liye usne ek Pyada bheja. SCENE 6: INT. CINDRELLA ROOM- NIGHT Cindrella Looks surprised at the arrival of an unknown at this point of Night, CINDRELLA (IN FEAR AND SURPRISE)Kaun ho tum? Andar kaise pahuche CROANY Mai shehjada ka pyada hu ,Duniya me Kahi Bhi,Aakash me Patal me,jal me,Thal me kahi bhi Kisi Bhi pahuch sakta hu..ha ..ha,Aur mai tumhe yaha se lene yaha hu. CINDRELLA MujheLekin Mai shehjade ko janti tak nahi,Tum Yaha se Chale jao Agar meri maa ne tumhe yaha dekh liya to CROANY Ek samay pe mai ek hi jawaab deta hu,Lekin Aapke liye (He

CINDRELLA Party? mai to kabhi party me gayi hi nahi CROANY Shehjade ki party tab Dhalta aut shaam puri in khubsurat kadmo me chahta hai,(He passes hoti hai jab din Puri tarah se nahi tarah se nahi hoti..Shehjada aapke Duniya ke sari khusiyyan rakhna the Boot to her hand)

She takes the shoe in her hand and looks happy CINDRELLA Kya Shahjada Mujhe itni Mohabbat karta hai.lekin mai Apni maa aur bahar us kutte se darti hu, CROANY Phir Do Sawal,(He bows his head)Shehjada aapke intezar me Deewana hua ja raha hai,Aur wo kutta bahar Aaram se botiya tod raha hai,(the dog barks)Abe chupp..Ab jaldi Chaliye..Ha..ha Cindrella looks convinced as she is looking at the boot and at smiling at him while he is talking. SCENE 7: INT.CHAI TAPARI NIGHT The Tapari is closed and there is no one except them,its still raining outside. SAJJAD Aap logo ko ghar nahi jaana, He is reading there faces and they looks mesmerizes in the story, MAN 1 To Cindrella shahjade ke saath gayi,Aur Deewane ke kya hua ? SAJJAD

Deewana to Deewana tha.. SCENE -8 EXT. ON THE STREET-NIGHT Deewana is under the same street lamp in the tatterd clothes,A vintage looking Car comes and stops near Him, DEEWANA Dekho mai Tumhara ab bhi yahi intezaar kar raha hoon, CINDRELLA (With brightness in her eyes),Mai Aapne Shahjade ke Pas ja rahi hun, DEEWANA Phir Laut ke na aa paogi CINDRELLA Shahjade ke pass jannat hai,Wo mujhe behad Mohabbat karta hai. DEEWANA Ye Tumhara sapna hai ,Shahjade kabhi Mohabbat nahi karte,Tum laut ke Aaogi. Cindrella looks irritated ,The car moves away,But she is still looking at him who is left behind DEEWANA CONTD Jab waqt Thahar jaega aur marta hua lamha Dusre me janam lega waqt ke pehle tum laut Aaogi,Aur shayad tab tak. us

He leaves the frame and the car looks tiny in the frame as it has moved distant. SCENE 9: Cyndrilla enters the ball-room and she is surprised to see the lavishness of the Room,She is looking Extremely preety and her eyes looks brightened,Shehjada comes down the staircase who looks extremely handsome.He stretches his hand and she also gives her hand, SHEHZADA Tum sapney me jaise dikhte ho,Haqqeqat me usse bhi zyada Khubsurat CINDRELLA ye Sapna hai ya haqeeqat SHEHZADA

Page 9 of 22 Sapna kal tak tha jab maine pehli Baar tumhe dekha tha,Lekin aaj ye haqeeqat hai (he kisses on her hand) CINDRELLA She blushes and smiles),Mere liye to ye sapnay ke jaisa hai SHEHZADA Lo abhi tumhara bhram dur karte hai,(he Announce her to People)Jiska Intezaar Aap log ghanto se kar rahe they wo Aapke samne hai,ye hai humari malika Aapki nayi Shahzadi, Every one tosses to her, PEOPLE IN CHORUS Welcome shehzadi She smiles and covers her face as if she cant believe it.The light goes off,Shehzada with courtesy and romance in his eyes takes her hand out of her face,And they starts dancing.First the Shehzada has put his Arm around her shoulder,she has closed her eyes ,Soft and Romantic Music in the background,they dances she giggles in joy and romance,Looking straight in his eyes ,then there is a tinge of tears in her eyes,others are also dancing and enjoying the moment.Shehzada says something in her ear,she looks happy and she also says something which is not Audible. SCENE-10 INT.BEDROOM OF SHEHZADA NIGHT Shehzada and Cindrella are dancing and the music is playing in the Background, she flops on the cozy Bed and he also falls on the bed, She has closed her Eyes. Shehzada is humming some romantic tune and he is releasing his tie, He asks Cindrella SHEHZADA To kaisi lagi tumhe Shehzade ki duniya CINDRELLA Mujhe Ab bhi Vishwaas nahi hota.. SHEHZADA Ki ye sab Tumhara hai,Shehzade ki sari daulat hai,Hire,jawaharat,mahal,Rupaye, Aur ye shehzada bhi. tumhari

He puts his hand around her belly,Cindrella opens her eyes.Shehzada comes closer,she looks Frightened SHEHZADA

Bahut jaldi mai tumhe Apna bana lunga aur tumhe apni shehzaddiyo ke mahal me rakhunga phir tum bhi meri aur He comes closer to kisses her,she moves her face away and He laughs in a demonic way and again comes near to her she struggles to relieve herself from his clutches and in the process to run her clothes are torned,and a bit comes in his hand,he flops on the bed and puts the torn piece of cloth in his mouth,she is running here and there to find the door,but its an elusive room with curtains all around,she removes one curtain and finds the wall ,she again removes a curtain and there is a window on which her mother and sister are seen in a demonic way,she again opens another curtain and they are on the another Window, Shehzada and The mother are laughing and she is trapped in between them,Sound of barking door is heard.Everything is spinning around her.Suddenly there is silence a typical numbness and the same sound of the wall clock,superimposed with sound of Deewana: marta hua lamha Dusre me janam lega Aaogi, us waqt ke pehle tum laut

She comes to her sense the numbness is gone and she runs out of the another door and shehzada is still laughing in the room. SCENE-11 EXT.OUTSIDE ON THE DOOR NIGHT We see cindrella in her old clothes running on the deserted road there is nocuternal sound seen,she comes from a distance to near and crosses the tapari running. Scene 12: INT.TAPAARI NIGHT We see that all of the people around have numb faces after listening the story,All of them are silent including Deewana,The rain has stop outside MAN 1 (Clearing his throat)To Phir cindrella ka kya hua? Deewana smiles, MAN 2 Aur Deewana kaun tha? Uska kya hua SAJJAD (He smiles)Ghajab kiya tere wade pe aitbaar kiya tamam raat Qayamat ka intezaar kiya Sajjad stands and Moves from there,everyone looks surprised at his sudden departure,we see him going on the lonely road,he goes away

INT/ROOM- NEAR THE DOOR /EVENING The girl gets up slowly and cautiouly walks towards the door(looking back)slowly opens it and tries to get out.She slowly lift her leg over the threshold while looking back. But she stops suddenly(hears dogs growling), she finds a dog outside watching her.She tries to shoo him away but the dog starts barking, making her frightened. She rushes back to her room. INT/ROOM/EVENING The girl is sitting on the rug, completely being aware that she has been caught. She is casting fearful glaces. Barking sound makes her step mother and step sisters to come to her room. They are all wearing nice dresses. Step mother: Lagta hai isne aaj phir kuch gadbad karne ki kosish ki

Page 13 of 22 hai. Step mother goes upto door,sees the dog, taps on his head. She realises that she was trying to run. Her step mother starts to beat her up while her step sisters watch smiling. Step sisters put more bundles of tangled wool in front of her. Step mother: Jab tak yeh sulajh nahi jati tab tak khana nahi milega. They all leave. INT/ROOM/EVENING The girl is somber after being hit and is sitting. She slowly picks up the tangled wool and starts making ball out of it. After sometime she hears a sound. A pebble has fallen at her feet after hitting the window.She knew who has thrown it. She goes up to the window though she resists herself initially and slowly opens the window and looks at him. A man(dressed in rag) is standing on the other side of the street under the shed like thing, looking at her and is smiling at her. . / - Amir aaga kajalwash / - Vimal krishna ashk She looks at him for a moment then she comes back to her place. She picks the pepple and keeps it along with other pebbles. She had collected all the pebbles. She runs her fingers over pebbles that was thrown by him before. Voice over of Mirza: . - . , . . . . . , . ?

. . . , . . . . . EXT/TEA SHOP/EVENING

Mirza is surrounded by the few people who are listening to him. Man 1 picks up the ground nuts from the plate and puts in his mouth.

Man 1(while chewing): Phir? Sajjad: Phir (pause).Ek raat hamesha ki uski sauteli maa aur uski bahene dawat par gayi thi. Aur who ladki apne kamere mein baithi apna dil behlani ke liye kankad ko gin rahi thi. Tab ek din...

All are listening intently to him. Camera pans/tracks though all the faces. 2 INT/ROOM/NIGHT Camera pans/tracks to reveal the girls face. The girl is sitting and to cheer herself she is counting the pebbles. Suddenly the room is lit up by bright light (as by a passing vehicle). She gets startled and looks towards the window. She can hear the sound of the car engine. She slowly on her knees goes up to the window. From behind the window pane she looks out. 3 EXT/STREET/NIGHT A beautiful car halts near the house. Car looks completely out of place for this deserted street at late in the night. A young man of age around 24-25 years gets out the car. He is

Page 15 of 22 smartly dressed in black suit, tie and pant. He walks up to the window as he work with his tie. He comes near the window and whispers. Young man: Tum ho? Inside the room, the girl is in her own dream world.She leans herself on the wall and closes her eyes. Young man knocks on the window and calls out again. Young man (little louder): Tum ho ? She comes back to reality, opens the window and answers him back. Girl: haan.! Young man: Good! As he answers her he jumps in through window. The girl gets frightened. She moves forward to stop him. Girl: Nahi nahi, tum chale jao yehan se. Meri maa sauteli hai. Young man is not worried about that. He tries to calm her down. Young man: Ghabrao nahi, koi baat nahi. Wah yahan nahi aayegi. He takes out a box.He opens it and takes out a very beautiful sparkling shoe from his pocket which has got diamonds studded on it. Young man: Lo yeh pahen kar dekhao. She looks at shoe with awe. She hesitates and is in the state of confusion. She looks at shoe, then at the man. Young man(in little commanding voice): Paheno.

She is standing there paralyzed, slowly she sits on the chair next to her and wears the shoe. The young man is watching. Young man(happily, excitedly): Bilkul fit hai. Tumhara hi hai. The girl is confused. Girl: Mera? Young man: Haan.. Tumhara. Tum kal raat Shehjade ki dawat se bhagte waqt chhod aayi thi. She is perplexed. She stands up. Girl: Main..? Young man: Haan. Tumhain yaad nahin ? Ek pari tumhein hamare Shehjade ke mahal mein le ke gayi thi aur tumne usse wada kiya tha ki Girl interrupts. Girl: Lekin (pause). Wah tho khawab tha

Young man: Wah khawab tha ya nahi tha, muje safai paesh karne ka hukam nahi hain. Mera kaam tumnein yehan se le ke jana hai. Shehjada tumhare intezaar mein bekarar hain. Chalo. She is happy but there is little hesitation, doubt and fear in her. Girl: Lekin? Young man: Lekin wekin kuch nahi. Shehjada tumhein iss kaid se nizad dila kar rahega. Phir tum saari umar us shaandar mahal mein rahogi, jahan Young man: Jahan tumein is jahan ki sab sahuliyetein milegi.

Page 17 of 22 Naukar-chakar, Ghoda- Ghadi,keemati kapade, heere jawaharat. Roz sair sapata hoga. Tum shehjadi ki tarah rahogi aur raaj karogi.. The young man explains all the luxuries of palace and life over there. After finishing, he turns to her. Young man (looking at her): Ab chalein.. The girl seems eager to go along with him but stood there looking at her dress which are dirty. He give a casual look at her and her cloths. Young man: Uski fikr tum mat karo. Car mein Shehjade ka bheja hua libas rakha hai. Now also the girl is hesitant. She looks at the window. Girl: Magar who kutta jo bahar hai? In reply the young laughs and jumps out of window, he gestures towards his legs. Girl comes to the window and sees that dog is busy eating dog food. Young man smiles at her and gestures her to come. Young man: Ab Aao. The young man walks towards the car. The girl climbs on the window. 4 EXT/STREET/NIGHT The girl gets down from the window and walks towards the car. The young man already near the car and opens the door of the car for her. She is about the step into car when she hears a voice na jana from back. She turns around to find deewana standing at his usual place, from where he used to watch her, in front of his room. She gets startled and gestures him to go away. But the deewana stands there with little smile on his face. She turns and looks at the young man who is still holding the door. He too is in a kind of confused state and watching all this drama. She is feeling embrassed. She quickly turns towards foot board. Deewana again calls out to her (this time little louder).

Deewana: Ruk jao. Mat jao Now the girl turns, pauses and walks up to him. The young man watches this little confused manner. Girl: Mein shehjade ki jannat mein ja rahi huin. Deewana: Phir wapas na aa paogi. Girl: Tumhe isse kya? wah bahut khoobsurat hai, Shehjada hai. Deewana: To meri ek baat maano, jab waqt thahar jata hai aur marta hua lamha doosare mein janam leta hai, us lamhein se pahele pahele laut aana. The girl giggles and laughs. She turns to leave. Deewana: Main tumhara intezar karunga. . She turns and laughs little louder. She goes and sits into the car. Girl(to herself): Deewana..! Young man: Kaun Deewana? Girl: Tum nahin jante. She turns and through the back glass pane of the car as it moves. She sees the deewana standing there, watching her go. He is standing in the front of his room in diminishing red/warm light falling on him from behind. EXT/TEA SHOP/EVENING (LITTLE DARK) The people around Mirza are listening to the story with great interest. In the back , a boy is lighting the laltern.

Page 19 of 22 Man 2: Phir who gayi us aadmi ke saath? Mirza pauses for a while and he looks into void. Anwar: Haan. Jahan uske sapno ka Shehjada milta hai. 5 INT/PALACE LIKE STRCTURE/NIGHT A big grand,enterance door opens slowly and the girl enters into big and beautiful ball room. Fade in sound of people and music. We see her completely transformed. She is now the most pretty lady in the room. All eyes are on her. She enters into the lavish ball room. Every thing are made up of glass and silvery material. Lighting gives it a spectacular silverish look. There is soft music in the background. She is eagerly and exitedly looking around the lavishness and beauty of the place. There are many different people dressed nicely (in whites and blacks), looking at her. In the center there is handsome man smiling who comes up to her and takes her in his arms. Shehjada: Tum aa gayi. Main kab se tumhara intezaar kar raha tha. She looks at his face. For her it is all dream. She feels as if she is in cloud nine,in heaven. Ball dance music starts playing. Shehjada takes her hand hand on his and takes her to floor. She hesitantly goes with him. Both are dancing on the floor, holding each others arms. Shehjada: Kal tum chali kyon gayi thi? Girl: Der ho gayi thi..is liye. Shehjada:

Ab na jana Girl: Kabh nahi jaongi.. And she goes into his arms. Both of them seems to be happy and enjoying. Montages of few dance sequences. 6 INT/BEDROOM/NIGHT Both of them enters into bedroom. Sound of people slowly fades out as they enter. They are still in the dancing mood. The door closes behind him. Both of them fall on the bed exhaustedly with their legs dangling down. The bed is made up of white material like feathers. They are lying next to each other. The girls eyes are closed. Shehjada raises his hand and points towards the table where all the valubles are kept. Shehjada: Yeh sab tumhari hain.. Girl: (eyes closed, half sleepy) Hmmm. Shehjada: Ab tumhein kisi cheez ki zaroorat nahin. Girl: (eyes closed, half sleepy) Hmmm. Shehjada: Ab tum to meri ho, meri. Shehjada slowly moves his arms towards her. He is over her holding her on shoulder. Her eyes is still closed. Shehjada holds her by shoulder. Shehjada: Tum meri ho She gets startled and opens her eyes. Her expression changes from that of surprise to shock.

Page 21 of 22 Suddenly there is sound of the clock bell and also Waqt ruk geya geya hai. Laut aao (Deewana Voice). Shehjada is transformed into some sort mad man who is pulling/tearing out her dress which she finds that it is just made up of ordinary wool. His eyes had become red and only canines (teeth) are visible which has blood stain on it. She pushes him back and gets off from bed. She turns and looks at him. He falls back (he is somehow sure that she will not be able to get out this place) on the bed giving out a loud laugh. Shehjada: Yehan se kaise jaogi? He keeps on laughing. Sound of clock bell(This time more louder)plus Deewana voice. The girl turns and runs from there.She pulls open the door. She finds her step mother and step sisters standing there with the shoes in their hand and laughing. She runs to another door but she find them there too, trying to catch her. She is running from one door to another. Sound of clock getting louder and louder, following her. Sound of Shehjada laughter is following her. 8. EXT/STREET/NIGHT Finally she manages to exit through one door and come out of the palace building to a street. She is running on the long deserted street. The clock sound, laughter and other sounds are slowly fading out as she runs away into dark. 9. EXT/TEA SHOP/NIGHT CONTINUATION WITH THE PREVIOUS SCENE Camera cranes up as she runs into the dark, stays there for sometime and then,slowly comes down back to the tea stall where Mirza is narrating the story.We can see the girl running in the background. Man 3: Sajjad saab, par us ladki ka anth mein kya hua..? Man 4: Aur uss Deewane ka kya hua ? Anwar: Ladki..(pause) woh andere mein kho gayi. Aur Deewana aaj bhi uski talash kar rahah hai.

There is blank expression on their face. Man 1: kahani toh badi acchi hai. Par iska kya hai. Anwar: TitleahCinderella Man 3: Cinderella ? Goya..yeh kya shirshak hua..? Anwar smiles.
