The chart lists (almost) all of the first 83 elements of the periodic table.
For each element, it gives Z, A and the mass of a stable isotope.
Your task:
1)
Use the cells in row 2.
First find the mass of the nucleus (cell E2): (mnucleus = mass atom - mass electrons)
Then use:
Δ m = Z x mp + (A - Z) mn - m nucleus
so EB = Δ m x 931.5 MeV
and then divide by A to find EB/nucleon to fill in all the rest of the cells in row 2 up to L2.
Scroll across row 2 from column E to L and then use the little black cross in the bottom RH corner of
cell L2 to scroll right down to the bottom of row 82. Your table should now be full!
2)
Scroll right down the A column, hold control and scroll right down your final E B/nucleon column
Pick Insert/ scatter graph/ and choose this one:
Label the chart and the axes
Print out and stick in your practical book.
