Many residents of Leesburg Country Club woke up this morning to find their cars tagged. The majority of the tagging was on Janney Street - hitting about eight or nine cars. Police are still investigating and have no suspects at this time. Time-Mirror Staff Photo/Laura Peters

Leesburg Country Club residents started their work week scrubbing spray paint off their car doors on the morning of Aug. 15. Residents on Janney Street were angered and shocked to see the XO tag on their drivers side doors. I was too busy milking cows when I was their age, one resident said regarding the kids he suspected of doing the tags. Leesburg Police were surveying the area around 8 a.m. and have totaled 27 reports of vandalism in the area. There were also reports of Chancellor Street in Leesburg Country Club being hit by the XO vandals. According to the Leesburg Police several homes, cars and street signs were tagged in Country Club. According to Master Police Officer C.F. Tidmore, who is also the public information officer for the Leesburg Police Department, the 27 tagging cases may have been different types of tags, instead of just the XO, but they all occurred during the late hours of Aug. 14 and early hours of Aug. 15. Tidmore said the tags are connected and the most common tag was the XO. The incident is currently under investigation, Tidmore said. We have no information pointing to it being gang related. But, with 27 different reported cases, weve got a lot of paper work to go through. Most residents were able to remove the spray paint by washing their cars and scrubbing the XO tag off. According to Leesburg Police, they are still investigating the vandalism and have no leads at this time. According to Tidmore, police patrol through Leesburg Country Club has been increased since the incident to look for suspicious acitivity. There have also been no other reports of the XO vandalism in the area of Country Club since Aug. 15.

Hello Loudoun County

Taste of Loudoun

This is a parenting issue, that being a lack of parenting. When the culprit(s) are found, hold the parents accountable. Fine or imprison them. Send them to parenting sessions if necessary. Our kids are ours to raise and nurture. We all need to know what our kids are doing and ensure they know how to respect other people and their properties.

Folks it is up to us to try and prevent these vents by keeping your eyes to windows and calling in suspicous people. Motion lights and keeping you neighborhood well lit helps you be able to see the bad guys. You cant shoot some one because they have a spray can or they are a vandal. You all need to read up on gun regulations. When you can and cant draw a weapon.Try and think prevention. Keep your neighborhood well lit. Join your neighborhood watch program and be a part of it. See peole you dont know at night call the police they want to hear from you. A quick call and youll get top people on it. You dont need to pull a gun unless it is to protect your life. You can detain and if they fall down while doing that because you caught them redhanded you will not face gun charges.I know you feel violated and I know the rage and I hope you catch them and have some therapy. But as a community we need to be civil amoungst us. When we break down to name calling on the forum it loses value. Please dont type angry. We need solutions and we need the folks caught. Lets not break the communication process.Turn on lights. Buy solar motion lights so they can be placed in spots where you dont have lighting. Take steps to catch these criminals. Take steps to be more civil amoungst ourselves and have productive dialouge. No go get hese guys. Put your eyes to the windows and watch your neighborhood. Take it back.

Build something for the kids? What? So they can destroy that too? I agree that a good majority of todays kids are nothing but spoiled, punk-ass brats who have way too much spare time on their hands. Stop making excuses for them. If they do the crime, they can do the time. I hope if theyre caught, that they AND their parents pay for EVERY BIT of damage theyve caused to the citizens of the County!

@ Kissle in Pittsburgh agreed, behave and you wouldnt have consequences. you hear it on the news all the time when they talk about shootings and robberies he was such a good boy oh my ass if he was so good he would of never been doing stuff like that to begine with
Wed, Aug 17 at 12:24 PM by Kissle in Pittsburgh | Report this comment

Hey - Thats my buddy Kissles truck. Most kids nowadays are punks, If I did that when I was a kid - my parents would have made me clean off all the cars or pay to fix it, then they would have beat my ass till I could not move. It does not matter if its a 500.00 Hooptay or a 50K BMW its someones property and does not need to be destroyed. Im glad I live in PA (Pittsburgh) we have the right to defend people and property with what the Wash DC beltway People call evil things High Powered Weapons Glocks, Mossbergs, and Winchester. If someone breaks into my house, myself or the wife will make sure they are missing a head before they leave, someone messes with our property, they may have a limp for life, due to a missing knee cap. Dont give me the crap, about shooing them.. You hear all the time.. he was a good kid he didnt deserve that.. My viewpoint if they didnt rob, steal, rape, destroy something, or doing something wrong, then they would have been fine. I have lived 48 years and never been shot at Why .... I obey the Law and peoples property.
Wed, Aug 17 at 12:23 PM by I blame the parents | Report this comment

Lets round up all the kids in the neighborhood from age 9 to 20. Then put them in a internment camp then water board them until we find out who did it. Then we go and get their parents and give them hundreds of hours of community service and send the culprits off to the Marine Corps for the discipline their parents neglected give them. Whet the heck, send the parents too.

I am amazed that the police have no suspects, however it seems most people want to blame teenagers. For anyone to defend the people doing this (ninja_gaydad)are part of the problem. Also I get the feeling Ninja_gaydad is either one of the gang or knows the ones doing it. Otherwise how does he know it is a group of 15 year kids. I would pay money to see Ninja_gaydad fight a group of 15 year olds with his bare hands. My money would be on the kids. Whoever made the statement Build Something for the Kids must be BLIND, or living under a rock. Leesburg has a Skate park, Ida Lee sports Park, Morven Park, two bowling facilities a new movie theater, not to mention all the youth sports programs. What on Earth do you think they need to build for the kids? Besides the people that did this I am sure did it in the middle of the night (early morning hours) so no matter what is built they would not be using it at those hours.

Hank If youre caught in my yard destroying my property, I have a right to protect my life, limb, and property! Sorry for your luck if you get a knee cap blown off!
Tue, Aug 16 at 09:29 PM by Hank | Report this comment

The gun question is simply to keep the kids in one spot while the cops arrive. Do you think if we ask them nicely they will stick around or something? Or should we just watch them spray paint more of your neighbors cars? Culprits under arrest will be much less likely to strike again, and youll have a name to get restitution from for the paint work youll have done to your car.

@ninja_gaydad - you are being sarcastic right. It has nothing to do with, it comes right off so who cares. It has everything to do with the fact, these cars and homes do not belong to these people tagging them. Someone worked hard for this stuff. Yes I would be all kinds of bent out of shape if I walked out of my house and found this. And to the people popping off with the gun comments. Easy now.

@Hank if you honestly need a high end shot gun to scare off a group of 15 yearold suburban kids, not only are your priorities out of whack, you may also want to hit the gym once in a while. -=Ninja_GayDad=Tue, Aug 16 at 07:14 AM by Missy | Report this comment

We have a very quiet neighborhood. We may not be rich but these are OUR houses and we want to keep our houses the way they are! These were kids with nothing better to do. Parents need to control their kids and know where they are all all times!

Just be clear, if I see these punks on my street, call the cops and then go outside with my Mossberg and tell them not to move, Ill get in trouble right? The other residents of Leesburg may throw a parade in my honor, but the police wontam I understanding that correctly?

It doesnt matter if the area is rich or poor! Whomever did this deserves some serious punishment. Maybe cleaning up graffitti for a few hours on a hot summer day would deter future instances.

Actually Country Club is not an rich area. Mostly all of the houses were built in the 70s and 80s. Its middle class. Several houses were also tagged. Including one where both the husband an wife are out of work.

If XO means Hugs and Kisses, I wonder if its some teenage revenge thing for somebodys rocky relationship. At least all these kids go back to school in 2/weeks and that should cut down on the vandalism until June 2012.
