Colon cancer is a hereditary disease. It equally affects both sexes, aged over 50 and 60 years, but not only.

If you had first-degree relatives who had the disease, the risk that at some point to emerge is very high. It has not shown other causes of illness until now. However, is a treatable disease. Prevention of colon cancer can be done by several methods. U.S. researchers have developed a study based on calcium. In a test, it was shown that people who consume calcium daily through food or dietary supplements have a much lower risk of colon cancer. In people who have food and supplements combined risk was halved. Reduce consumption of animal fat, which under certain conditions favor the occurrence of carcinogenic substances, and increase consumption of foods rich in dietary fiber (vegetables, fruits, cereals), which minimize contact time of colonic mucosa and possible carcinogenic substances found in the lumen colon. It was observed that aspirin, consumed in doses used for heart disease for 10 years, greatly reduced the incidence of colorectal cancer in the general population. Easy-risk patients are considered all individuals over 50 years, since 90% of colorectal cancer cases occur in patients over this age. In the category of moderate risk patients are degree relatives (brothers, sisters, parents, children) of patients with colorectal cancer discovered after 50 years of age or degree relatives of patients with colon polyps diagnosed at young age. These are investigating annual blood in stool and periodic colonoscopy at 4-5 years. Patients operated by colorectal cancer have a high risk for a colorectal cancer recidivism. They take place at annual exams for a tumor marker, carcino-embryo antigen, colonoscopies initially 6-12 months, then annually or more frequently. Also in this category is located and hemorrhagic rectocolitis patients with Crohn's disease and colon and those with colon polyps that may require maligniza and endoscopic ablation. Specialists recommend these investigations periodicals: - a digital rectal exam after age 50 years; - digital rectal examination, in order to detect a hidden bleeding; - rectosigmoidoscopy done once every 3-5 years after age 50 years; - colonoscopy done once every 10 years after age 50 years. A balanced diet can prevent most colon cancer. Beetroot improves iron levels in your body, your diet should be with daily intake of calcium and magnesium. Drink at least 2 liters of water per day. The spices will be reduced considerably. Avoid drinking and smoking. Enter your diet as many fruits and vegetables.
