All general household waste collected in Mosman goes to landfill at Belrose, with 38% of this being food waste. When we waste food, we also waste all of the resources, fuel, energy, and water that were used to get the food to us, as well as creating methane at the landfill site, a greenhouse gas contributing to climate change. Be a smart shopper - only buy what you need. Recycle any food scraps through a worm farm or compost. Love Food Hate Waste www.lovefoodhatewaste.nsw.gov.au Further information and tips for waste avoidance, view: www.mosman.nsw.gov.au/residents/waste/minimisation

Did you know that 98% of all electronic waste (e-waste) is recyclable? When we send these items to landfill, nonrenewable resources contained in electronics such as gold, silver and copper, are lost forever. E-waste items are not accepted in general household clean ups or pre-paid services. Recycle all of your e-waste by taking it to Kimbriki, its free! www.kimbriki.com Council will host an e-waste collection in 2011, date tba. Further information and options for e-waste recycling, view: www.mosman.nsw.gov.au/residents/waste/e-waste
