Healthy Churches Pray Fervently
As we continue our study of the church in Acts 2:42, the next characteristic of a healthy church is that it is a praying church. Prayer is one of those things that we as Christians talk highly of, but often do not do. Often we think that there are better or more pressing things to do with our time rather than praying. But when we look in Scripture, Christ followers are called to be people of prayer. Jesus says in the Sermon on the Mount, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matt. 7:6). Notice how Jesus says that when we ask God for something in prayer, we should expect God to answer! Jesus is trying to encourage his people to pray to the Father. So if God is so willing to answer our prayers, why then are we so unwilling to ask God in prayer? I’m sure we all have our reasons: I don’t have time; I don’t believe that God will answer my prayers; God still hasn’t answered my prayer; God can’t possibly answer this kind of prayer; and so on and so forth. It is easy to become discouraged in prayer because praying is hard work. But we must remember that our God is faithful to the prayers of his people. And too often we forget or don’t even notice God’s answers to our prayers. It has been said, “No prayer, no power; little prayer, little power; much prayer; much power.” If we want to powerfully impact our world around us, we must be people who make prayer a daily part of our lives. So will you decide today to take time to pray? Andrew Yocum

Skeet Shooting on September 24th
Hey everybody! On September 24th the young adults will be hosting a day of skeet shooting and barbecue for the entire church. We will be meeting at the church around 10:00 A.M. and from there be going to Tom Allen’s farm. If you wish to go, it will cost $20 for the ammunition if you sign up by September 11th. After the 11th the price will be $30. This greatly helps Alan plan the amount of ammunition needed for the event, please let the young adults know soon if you wish to come. All people both inside and outside the church are invited. So if you know anybody that would be interested be sure to bring them along. I hope to see you there and that you would have an amazing time of fellowship with the people of Northgate.

Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving. Colossians 4:2
