Representative industrial democracy includes decision making structures such as the formation of committees and consultative bodies to facilitate communication between management. a reduction in absenteeism and an improved sense of fulfillment. employees and their unions offer reactions and if necessary opposition. an increase in job satisfaction. Although industrial democracy generally refers to the organization model in which workplaces are run directly by the people who work in them in place of private or state ownership of the means of production. At one extreme. A fourth approach places less stress on power-sharing and more on consultation and communication: managers are seen as retaining all responsibility for decisions but make arrangements to consult worker representatives before changes are introduced. and staff. the term generally used is codetermination. The term. following the German word Mitbestimmung. but which is sufficiently small for all its members to take a personal direct part in influencing the group's decisions.Introduction Industrial democracy is an arrangement which involves workers making decisions. improved and inclusive decision making processes resulting in qualitatively better workplace decisions. In company law. Rationale Advocates often point out that industrial democracy increases productivity and service delivery from a more fully engaged and happier workforce. For others. sharing responsibility and authority in the workplace. perhaps linked with worker ownership of the means of production. industrial democracy implies workers' control over industry. Another approach is the appointment of worker or trade-union representatives to company boards or governing bodies. and the other half by the workers. and negotiation subsequently leads to collective agreements more or less satisfactory to both sides. In this model managements are seen to propose. as exemplified by producer co-operatives. . In Germany half of the supervisory board of directors (which elects management) is elected by the shareholders. charged with making its decisions about work organization and planning independently of higher management. These and other approaches to industrial democracy which involve representative structures on the workers' side are often described as examples of indirect democracy.

This integration ensures that workers and management work in union and in unison to ensure that organizational goals are exceeded.Conclusion From the popular saying that “happy workers are productive worker” – to large extent. The result is palpable as employees become innovative. Industrial democracy insures that workers are integrated in the decision making processes of the Company.and can be visible seen in the world‟s most industrial nations like Germany and Japan. responsive and productive. this ideology applies here.
