Classroom Procedures These procedures have been created to maintain a stress-free learning environment.

They have been researched and proven to promote student success. If any of them are unclear or if you have a particular situation you would like to communicate to me, see me personally before class. 1. How to Enter the Room     Face forward, walking, quietly. Stop and pick up a textbook. Continue and grab your response journal. Take your seat and silently begin the bell work.

2. Tardy Policy  Excused? Place your pass in the basket on my desk.  Unexcused? Sign the detention list. No discussion. **YOU ARE TARDY IF YOU ARE NOT IN YOUR SEAT WORKING WHEN THE BELL RINGS. NO EXCEPTIONS. **  All detentions are 30 minutes and are served on Fridays only. 3. To Get Your Attention I Will  Stand in front of class.  Raise my hand.  Wait for everyone to be quiet. 4. Heading Papers: Use MLA format James Smith 100 Ms. Kuensting Reading Strategies: 1st Period September 5th, 2011 5. Student Responsibility Card/ PINK SLIP! These are distributed when you do not have your homework to turn in. You must complete a slip in place of the assigned work. I will keep these on file as documentation of your responsibility. 6. Homework for an Excused Absence  Go to the homework notebook.  Copy down the homework in your planner.

 Do NOT start packing up prior to the bell.  Before class begins anticipate any needs you may have during class and address them. Turning In Papers  At your table pass your paper to the left. I will be at the door. 8. Bathroom Breaks  Raise 3 fingers in the air and wait for me to acknowledge.  Quietly raise your hand to get my attention. Scheduled Check Out  Please let me know as you enter the classroom. the teacher.  For emergencies.  Do not ask during a classroom discussion unless it is an emergency. 10. You are allowed 3 bathroom passes.  Collect all 4 at your table and they will be collected. **NO MAKE UP WORK FOR UNEXCUSED ABSENCES** 7. 11. Moving Around the Room  You must ask permission.  Place YOUR paper on top and pass them again to the left. quickly get my attention and I will assist you. Class Dismissal  The teacher dismisses you. 12. 9.
