Magnification: 2. In the case of both-side reading (the second surface) 1) Using A4 or LTR paper, prepare a test chart as follows:

2) Place the test chart you have prepared on the copyboard glass, and make a copy. Refer to the output as copy A. 3) Place the test chart in the original pickup tray, and make a backside copy in both-side reading. Refer to the output as copy B. 4) Put copy A and copy B together, and compare the length of the image in feed direction, making sure that dimension A as indicated. If not, go to step 5). Standard: a </= 1 mm

5) Start service mode as follows: press the User Mode key, press the 2 and 8 keys at the same time, and press the User Mode key once again.

6) Make the following selections: FEEDER>ADJUST>LA-SPEED2; then, change the setting to make adjustments. To make the image on copy B longer, decrease the setting (so that the stream reading speed will be decreased). To make the image on copy B shorter, increase the setting (so that the stream reading speed will be increased). [range -30 to 30 : -3 to + 3 % ] 7) Make a copy of the text charge once again, and check to see that the image is as indicated. Horizontal Registration: 2. In the case of both-side reading (the second surface) 1) Obtain the Test Chart. If the Test Chart is not available, prepare one using A4 or LTR paper as follows:

2) Place the Test Chart in the original pickup tray, and make a backside copy in both-side reading. 3) Put the Test Chart over the output of step 2), and check to see that the following is true A </= 1 mm B </= 1 mm If not, go to step 4).

After Replacement: With the Color imageRUNNER C5185, the 2-sided simultaneous reading ADF (Duplex Color Image Reader G1) is available. Because of it, the following measures differ compared to the already available Color Image Reader E1/F1. For the details, refer to the Service Manual. After Replacing Scanning Lamp After Replacing Reader Controller PCB, and After Clearing RAM After Replacing CCD Unit After Replacing the Scanning Lamp (When the color image reader-G1 is installed.): 1) Execute COPIER > FUNCTION > MISC-R > 1PCLBRST. After Replacing the Reader Controller PCB (When the color image reader-G1is installed.): CAUTION!

Be sure to print out the latest P-PRINT before replacing the reader controller PCB! When executing "RAM Clear" to the reader controller instead of replacing the PCB Upload the R-CON backup data using SST and download the data after executing "RAM Clear". In this case, it is not necessary to make adjustments explained below.

1) Download the latest system software (R-CON) using SST. 2) Select "COPIER > FUNCTION > CLEAR > R-CON" in the service mode and press the OK key to execute "RAM Clear". Then, turn off/on the main power. 3) Check the value specified in COPIER>ADJUST>CCD>CCD-CHNG for P-PRINT. When 0 is specified, go to Procedure 4). (Enter the MTF value.) When 1 is specified, go to Procedure 6). (Do not enter the MTF value.) 4) Enter each correction value indicated on the service label (attached inside of the reader front cover). a. MTF values COPIER > ADJUST > CCD > MTMF2-M1 to M9 COPIER > ADJUST > CCD > MTMF2-S1 to S9 After entry of the values, execute COPIER > FUNCTION > MTF-CLC.

C. Multi port FAX board-H2 There is no change in the service manual. D.DADF-T1 The DADF-T1 is DADF installed in Duplex Color Image Reader-G1. It is DADF that added a simultaneous two sided reading function to existing DADF-M1. A CIS unit is installed in the DADF-T1. Therefore, both-sided simultaneous reading can be selected in addition to the conventional reversal both-sided reading. In the reversal both-sided reading (DADF-M1), the document is reversed in the machine and the CCD unit installed in the reader assembly reads its both sides. In the both-sided simultaneous reading (DADF-T1), the document is fed only once in the machine. The CCD unit reads its first side, and the CIS unit reads its second side at the same time. The main difference in the DADF-T1 and the DADF-M1 service manual is shown below. Drive Communication Diagram for DADF-T1 This is the feeding equipment exclusively for stream reading. The equipment possesses 6 motors, 1 clutch and 1 solenoid as a drive load. In addition, this equipment carries the original (back side) reading unit (CIS unit).

Content Adjustment of magnification for the sub scanning direction to perform stream reading on the backside of the feeder at double-sided simultaneous reading A fine adjustment of the feeder delivery speed is made on the front side. Since the image on the backside is output from memory, magnification for the sub scanning direction can be adjusted by making a fine adjustment of the interval of image signals for the sub scanning direction when the image is written into memory. -120 to +120, iR C5185: -20 to +20 (Default: 0) (Unit: 0.1%) Method of Adjustment: When replacing the reader controller PCB/executing RCON clear, enter the value indicated on the service label. When an abnormal image (enlarged or shrunk image, etc.) has occurred on the backside in one-path double-sided mode, make this adjustment while checking the image. [Factory setting value / Factory adjustment value (value indicated on the service label)]
