People underestimate who I am.

I am mostly quiet and keep to myself, but if you happen to get on my nerves, that will be the end of you. Yes, you will be dead and I will laugh. I know I sound cold and evil, but I am not that kind of Mystic. Mystics are people and things of the supernatural world. I am not a vampire or witch nor am I a half breed of any kind. My name is Onyx and I am a shapeshifter. There is not a lot of us left and the ones who are still alive, tend to run alone and not in packs. Loaners and I am one of them. I live to be alone. Nobody can change that about me. My family couldn't, my little 5 year old brother couldn't, my bestfriend couldn't, nobody could. I have been wondering around the U.S. my whole life, never really staying in one place very long. Thats my life and I am very proud of it.

Chapter 1 Onyx

Run. This is the only thing that sets my soul free. I run threw the woods of Montana, my panther jet black hair flying wildly behind me. I have to run faster! I think to myself. I smell something, but what? I slow down to take a deep breath with my nose. Yes, Northwest. I switch directions quickly. Closer, closer, almost there, got it. I stop in my tracks. No! To much fire! I look to see if anyone is watching then turn back into human. Long jet black hair, violet eyes, 5'6 tall, normal for any 16 year old girl. "Hello, is anybody out there?" I yell over the sound of the forest fire. I look for the Mystic causing this, I can feel another Mystic whenever they are using their powers. "Hello, Onyx." I look toward the voice. A girl with blond hair and red eyes stood there in the middle of the bursting flames. Wearing only a solid black dress, and the outline of her sunlight necklace barely visible around her neck, nothing more. Shoes are unneeded for her kind. They dont feel pain until it nearly kills them. "Natillya" She smiles at the sound of her name. "Shut your mouth, nobody wants to see your bloodsucking fangs. " I have always hated vampires. They are so full of themselves. Who wants to kill people just for blood? I mean sure never getting old is cool, but I don't age past 17. Natillya stops smiling. "Fangs are just a plus and since you aren't very loving of them how about you play in fire, lil kitten." Fire explodes around me. What is she thinking? She won't be thinking for very long. "Natillya, you are such a-" She interupts me. "Please go on, I want to see your tail fry." I know this sounds odd, but I love water. Being a black panther doesn't change how I feel. Fire? I hate it with all my heart, not as bad as vampires, but pretty bad. I look for an exit, but found none. "I will be back after sunset for your dead body, Jax will be very proud of me when he gets your body put six feet under. You really should have

listened to your friends Onyx, because now your just dead." Natillya says, then walks away laughing. Typical vampires. Okay, now I have to get out of here. I only have 6 hours until dark. Either I burn alive or I starve! Great! Grrrr.. This fire is getting pretty hot. I need to find a way out and fast! Ultrafast! I look up at the tree branch above my head. The small branch would not hold my weight for a long enough time to escape. The fire is getting much worse. If it goes on for much longer it will engulf the whole forest. "Need some help?" I jump and look back up at the skinny tree branch. A small little girl is sitting there smiling. She has brown hair, brown eyes, and a tail behind her. "you need help?" she asks again. I nod. She is younger than me, but not by much. "Here, grab my tail." She lets her tail down farther. "Um, I don't think that branch is going to hold us both." The monkey girl rolls her eyes and hits me with her tail. "Just grab it! Last chance or I'm leavin" Little, bossy brat. I grab the tail and with a swing, I leap over the boiling fire to the safety of the forest. Monkey Girl climbs down from the tree slowly. "Thanks." I tell her. "No problem. I'm Marie by the way." She starts walking, but I stay behind. "Onyx. How old are you?" I'm very curious at this point. "12, you?" She turns around to look at me. "16 and I have to go. Thanks for the rescue and all, but I leave here." Marie's face drops. "Go home to your parents and family. Trust me. You don't wanna hang out with me. I have more enemies than you could possibly imagine. Some of the people I know kill random people everyday. You don't need to be around me." I try to scare her, but she is stubborn. "I don't have a family! I don't have parents! And you can set there and try to freak me out, but you owe me and I'm collecting by living with you!" My mouth falls open from shock. This stupid little girl is going to get herself killed if she ever talked that way to the wrong person. "Kid, what is wrong with you? Do you understand how dangerous my life is? I don't have time to baby proof it for ya! Go back to where ever it is you were before you met me!"

Kiefer

Kiefer sits in a nearby tree, watching as the girls fight. Natillya made him stay to watch the older girl and make sure she doesn't escape. I wonder what she did to make Natillya so mad?, he thought to himself. The girls get louder, Kiefer looks down from the old tree branch he is percher on. The older one was yelling. She looked very angry from Kiefer's point of view. "Go back to where ever it is you were before you met me!" Wow. Harsh words for such a small girl, Kiefer thought. The older one smiles a cruel and evil smile. "You're just a kid and if you're with me, there are no promises that you'll survive one single day." Kiefer laughs quietly. This foolish girl doesn't know

the meaning of 'survive'. She may have a rough life, but none that has ment trying to survive. Kiefer has spent his life torchered and beat, starved and drugged, hurt and lied to. Survive had been the only thing he could do. "I just saved your life!" Was the younger ones only reply. "Doesn't mean I owe you one, kid. I could have saved myself." She says then turns and starts to walk the other way. Kiefer follows behind, jumping from tree to tree without being heard. "You'll be sorry!" The monkey girl screams. Kiefer noticed that the girl didn't even slow her pace. Heartless. An evil smile plays at the corner of his lips. "You can come out of the tree now." Kiefer drops his smile and notices that she is staring up at the tree he was in. He drops down right in front of her. "Hello, how are you on this fine evening?" Kiefer says sarcasticly. She doesn't smile. "Who are you and what do you want? Working for Natillya I assume?"

Onyx

The boy was cute. Blond hair, red eyes, wearing a black jacket, black shirt, and blue jeans. His eyes gave him away. They were glowing as he jumped through the trees. Vampires. They most always work for Natillya. "So? Going to answer or keep me guessing?" I say. He smiles. "I don't take orders from such", he looks me up and down, "little people." He's flirting. "Wrong answer, pretty boy." I say then transform into my animal self. His eyes open wide, but that's the only sign of suprise. "They told me you were a shapeshifter. Although it still seemed unreal." The boy says. "Name." I say into his mind. He smiles. "I can do the same, you see? Why should I tell you a name, when I don't even know yours?" Mind games? This should be interesting. "Onyx." Is all I say. "Kiefer." I transform back to human in less than a second. "Get out of here. I've heard about you. You kill innocent people without even a second glance! Leave or I will be forced to kill you myself." Kiefer: An assasin no less. A murderer. The demon of all demons. "Leave." I say in the tone of no emotion. He looks me in the eyes. The red glows brighter than before. He gives me a smile. A fake one, but never the less a smile. "You know I can't just let you go. That would be defying everything I was ordered to do." He speaks slowly, but clear. The anger inside me grows. Almost unbearable. All those innocent people he has destroyed. Those helpless people. I start to breath heavy. "So you follow orders like a child?" The venom thickly in my voice as I spit the words at him. His eyes narrow. I can see the fangs as they show themselves behind his lips. A low growl escapes from deep inside my throat. "I dont always take orders. I obey myself and myself only. Dont make the mistake of getting on my bad side." Kiefer hisses as he speaks. Like a snake, ready to attack. Then it was gone. The fangs. The red in his eyes. The

anger, even mine. It was all gone. Confusion overtakes his features. I'm sure the same expression was all over my face. It was almost like someone was- I stop myself from thinking what I already knew would be the truth. "Natillya." The name escapes my lips with so much hatred that even Kiefer looked suprised. As I turn slowly, Natillya shows herself. The necklace, now laying on the edge of her dress, glows brightly. I loathe the creater of such a thing. Allowing vampires to roam the daytime without burning them to dust. I've killed a few, ripping the jewels from around their necks, fingers, and ankles. The only way to be positive that they will not return. Sunlight, such a powerful source. Wooden stakes are no match. They paralize, yes, but kill? Not even close. "Onyx, I keep underestimating your ability to get yourself out of these kind of 'tough' situations." Her voice, so girly yet it terrifys me. "You make things way to easy for me, Nattie." A smile plays around the edges of my lips. I hear a rustle of leaves behind me. For a vampire, this Kiefer kid cannot stay quite. He has no stealth at all. "Kiefer, seize her." Natillya's words hardly escape her lips before Kiefer runs at me. I leap into the air just before he reaches me. I land 10 feet behind him, in panther form. He turns around, a smile creeping onto his face. "Still suprises me." He whispers. I crouch down into attack mode. This will be a dance to the death. They either take me dead, or leave me alive. A growl rolls out of my canine teeth as Kiefer takes a step closer. "Here kitty kitty kitty." His voice sounds playful, yet annoying all in one. "Come and get me, leech." I whisper the words through his mind. The red in his eyes return. He runs at me, faster than any vampire I have ever seen before. I jump at him, claws extended, teeth ready to rip his throat out, but I never make it to him.

Chapter 2 Kiefer

Out of the corner of Kiefer's vision, he see's something. Not big enough to pose a threat, but enough to draw his attention from the panther charging at him. He stops suddenly. Making sure the small dart does not touch him, but sinks into the skin of the girl. Kiefer's head flings to the side to see a man. Obviously he is the one who shot the dart. Holding a small handheld gun with an estimated amount of 8 darts inside. He's old, maybe 37 at the least. He is dressed in all black, a solid black tight-fitting shirt, black leather jacket, and black pants with matching biker boots. He has black hair and a graying beard. Kiefer flicks his head back to where Onyx lay, back in human form as he would have guessed. She is out cold and breathing slowly. A sleeping drug. "Ah, Marcus. You made it right on time." Natillya walks over and kisses

him on the cheek. It wasn't quick either, but Kiefer didn't notice. His mind was elsewhere. "Watch your aim next time, will ya?" Kiefer says loud enough for the whole forest to hear. He is no Mystic, but a puny human. Such vermin. Marcus glares at him. "I have fine aim. If you would have captured her in the first place, I wouldn't have had to shoot." The man has guts, Kiefer thought, but guts aren't what keep you alive. What was Natillya doing running with humans anyway? Was she trying to make us known worldwide? "Kiefer, darling, grab her. We must take her with us. I know you have a lot of questions, my son, but they will have to wait." Natillya pulls Marcus away by the arm, leaving Kiefer alone with the sleeping beauty. He was not her son and Kiefer didnt know why she has always called him that. If she were his mother, Kiefer wouldn't be able to live with himself. He may be cruel, but never will he be as cruel as her. Kiefer crouches down next to the young girls face. She looks so innocent while she sleeps. He wonders what she might have done to make Natillya hate her so. He picks her up slowly, not sure if the movement would wake her, even though she was drugged. Kiefer carries her up hills, across rivers, and every which way throughout the forest. She doesn't even try to roll over. Kiefer watches her. Only taking his eyes off her to watch his step.

Onyx

Peaceful, carefree, loving. A world I wish were real, but knowing deep inside its not. I open my eyes slowly, wondering what I might see. The bed I'm lying on makes many noises as I sit up. White walls, white tile floor, white ceiling, white desk, and white sheet laying over me on the white bed. If I ever visit a mental hospital, I'm guessing this is what it would look like. There is one small window in the corner above my bed. Maybe I could escape through that? No, not big enough. Memories start to return from what happened to me before I woke up here. Natillya, Kiefer, a fight, and then blackness. Damn it. I was taken. I'm almost positive. "I don't care if she's dead or alive, just bring her to the examination room. Now. We need to get her blood now, before its to cold." Outside of my door. An all to familiar female voice. So, Natillya outsmarted me this time. I wont let it happen again. "Why the hell do you need more blood? You already took half a pint from her. Isn't that enough?" Kiefer, but why was he defending her? Maybe he felt guilty for all those people? Not likely. To lazy to capture her and bring her to the 'examination room'? Sounds better. As the clicks of high heels travel farther down the hallway, I stand up out of bed. A weapon. I need a weapon. I grab the only thing not screwed to the ground. The lonely desk chair. I hold my breath as the door opens. Without even looking I swing the chair. Whatever it

was that knocked me out the first time, left some major damage to my coordination. Kiefer turns right before the chair hits him and catches it lightly with one hand. His eyes bore into mine. A red glow shines around the outside ring of his pupils. He jerks the chair out of my hands and chucks it at the wall behind him. "Not gonna work, sweetheart. You're to drugged up to even be somewhat of a match to me." His cocky smile never fails to show itself. The smile fits him. I noticed that he changed. Outfits, not personality. Obviously. Wearing now a solid blue shirt, black pants, and black converse. Blue looks amazing on him-no. I refuse to think of this pest in such thoughts. I look down at myself and notice I'm wearing a howpital gown. Thank the heavens it has a back, otherwise I would be pissed. Kiefer moves a step closer, causing me to take two steps back. "What do you want?" I ask. Although the answer I already know. Kiefer sighs. "You have two choices. You can walk yourself down to the examination room-which is what I would choose-or I can use this little dart gun I have in my pocket and save the doctors some trouble by knocking you out again." I look down at his pockets. There is no way a whole gun can fit in there. I look up at him and smile. "Shoot me." This ignorant vampire thinks he can out smart me twice? Well, think again. Kiefer rolls his eyes. "Why does everyone choose the hard way?" He asks himself. He pulls a small gun, not even the size of his palm, from his pocket. He slowly lifts it up, aiming it at me. "You do understand that I hate you, right?" Venom falls off my words as they leave my lips. He doesn't speak, just pulls the trigger. I dodge just before it hits me between the eyes. Landing clearly on my bed, I notice that the effects of the last dart has almost completely wore off. Kiefer swears more under his breath. The door is still open from where he entered. This is my only chance to try and escape. I run toward the door. As soon as my feet touch the other side, I ram right into something. I groan. "Not so fast, kitten." Kiefer's smartass comeback always overjoying me.

Kiefer

The girl actually thought she could escape Kiefer? It was close to impossible, but she sure did try. He holds her arms tightly behind her back, like you see in those old cop movies, and drags her toward the examination room. She dodged the only dart he had on him. Which means twice as much trouble for everyone. She would feel the pain. Just like when she first got here. Kiefer still didn't understand why they took her blood. Vampires didn't crave tainted blood. He knew that for sure. Maybe Natillya thought the blood would somehow be useful in the future. Kiefer feels sorry for the girl. He remembers when they tied her up, still unconcious, and drained her slowly. She would toss and turn and scream, although she doesn't remember. It seemed like

she was having a terrible nightmare that she could not wake up from. Kiefer looks down at her again. The fury was plain to see on her face. He knew that when she whispered "I hate you" again, that she ment it. "Stop being so negative. Things could be worse." He says to her, in a voice that probably sounded rude to her ears. The look she gives him confirmes what he just thought. "How? I'm stuck in a mental hospital, being drained of blood! There are vampires here and one of them happens to be a asshole who kills people for the fun of it!" Her voice gets louder as she goes on. "And did I mention that I'm in a hospital dress?! Who changed me?! Was it you?! I swear that if you-" Kiefer puts his hand over her mouth to shush her. "No, I didn't change you. Although I did volunteer, the people here seem to be very sexist." Her face changed from fury, to a face of confusion. "You volunteered to change my clothes?" She couldn't finish the sentence without laughing. Kiefer made her laugh. It made him feel good to know that he still had a joke or two left in him. He hasn't laughed in so long. The last time was when his father had told him about vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, faires, and any other Mystic out there. He thought it all to be a joke. That was, until he was thrown into the world of them. Kiefer led her farther into the heart of the lab. Going through door after door, pushing her in front, until they reached a small room with a single chair in the middle. It wasn't your regular dinner chair. It had straps around each arm and leg and one to wrap around her small head. Onyx pushes back against him. She's scared, as she should be. "Don't put me in that thing." She whispers quietly. Kiefer jerks her forwards and sets her in the chair. "I don't have a choice." He says back, emotionless. He starts to strap her in as she screams and kicks at him. After he finishes, he walks into the next room to watch through a small window.

Onyx

I have to get out. That monster of a person left me here! Strapped in like some test subject. My pulse is rising. I can feel as my claws start to push themselves out of my hands. I dont have enough room to transform, but if I can just-my thoughts are cut short by a door opening. I turn my head to see a woman. She is short, maybe 4'9, red hair pulled back into a messy bun, purple glasses covering her eyes. She's wearing a lab coat and blue scrubs. She pushes in a small cart. On it there are at least 12 needles and 8 plastic bags. What is she going to do take every drop of blood I have in me? "What are you doing- Dont touch me with tha-" The pain is worse than any needle I've ever had injected into my body. It felt like a nail being plunged through my arm. I scream out in pain. I usually don't show pain. Its not my style, but this, this feels like death itself has come to claim me. Screaming again I

notice my blood pouring into one of the 8 bags. Is that even whats supposed to happen? She pulls the needle out slowly. "Hey, lady, you ever think of picking a different career? I don't think you're cut out for this!" I let some of my pain come out in anger. The small woman sets the blood covered needle down and picks up another. "Aha, I don't think thats really needed. Be a nice old hag and put the needle down." The second hurts more than the first, if thats even possible. I feel myself get weaker, the blood loss is starting to take control over me. Each time a new needle is inserted, the pain grows. On needle nine, I start to become numb. My vision starts to blur and I smell chocolate. I hate chocolate. Always have, always will. I laugh, or at least I think I did. I think I'll close my eyes. Just for a moment. I need to take a nap. "I won't be long" I tell the girl. I don't think she heard me correctly because something else stabbed into my arm and it wasn't a needle. Another scream escapes my lips. My eyes flutter open. A blurry figure is standing over me. Blue eyes? So pretty, but who is this blue eyed figure before me? Do I know him? Who is he? Who am I agian? Ha, I laugh again. I'm so forgetful. "Onyx? You can't sleep. Do you read me? No sleeping for the kitten, alright?" Wait. I know that voice. That annoying voice. My face rises into a scowl. I blink a few times until Kiefer's face appears before mine. Blue eyes? I never knew he had blue eyes. I just assumed since they were always red, then red must be their true color. "I'm gonna take her back to her room. You can finish in a few hours or tomorrow. Whenever she wakes up and gets some food in her. You don't want the subject to die on ya." Kiefer looks at the small woman to my left. "No" I try to say, but all I could hear from myself is "nnnnnnnnnnnnnn" Kiefer cracks a smile. "I'm guessing thats a protest, but I have orders to go by." Orders? Didn't Natillya tell him before that she didn't care if I was dead or alive? What was he up to? He starts unstrapping the belts from my arms and ankles, leaving the head for last. He picks me up slowly, as if not to hurt me. I couldn't feel anything so I dont see why it matters. I close my eyes as he carries me back to what I'm guessing is now my room. How long will I be here? As soon as I awake, I'm getting out. I dont care how many peoplevampires that I have to destroy to get out.

Kiefer

She was sleeping in his arms before he ever made it to her room. Such an empty room. Kiefer lays Onyx down on the bed and pulls the sheet over her helpless body. He starts to walk toward the door. "No, dont leave me.. Mom..?" Kiefer turns back. She's sleep talking. Having a dream. She thrashes her head from side to side. "I can't help it. Its who I am!" Her voice turns into a scream. His eyebrows lift up just a tad. He walks closer to her bed. "Dad

understood, he always did." She gasps, opening her eyes. Kiefer holds his breath. Her eyes are solid white. Didn't he hear somewhere about if you wake a sleep walking person that it could harm them? Onyx sits up in bed. "Hello..? Whose there?" Kiefer makes no movement to answer or comfort her. The way she spoke reminded him of an old horror movie he had watched as a kid. "What do you want with me? I'm not helping you, you scumbag." Kiefer smiles. Obviously she was dreaming about her younger days. Her vocabulary has changed, thats for sure. He shouldn't be here. Listening in on her dreams was wrong and he knew that, he just couldn't take his eyes off of her while she was so helpless. She screams suddenly, making Kiefer jump. He looks around the room before looking back on her face. She was crying now. Damn, girls and their mood swings. He didn't even know you could cry in your sleep, but here he was, viewing it for himself. Kiefer sits down on the bed, careful not to come in contact with her. He sat there like that for hours, until finally Kiefer dozed off himself.

Onyx

Vampires sleep? The proof is right here in front of me. Kiefer, sleeping silently on my bed. I wonder how long he's been there? Why is he here to begin with? I should leave while I can, but there is one problem. Kiefer wasn't stupid enough to leave the door open. I should kill him. Wait for someone to come look for him, then escape. How would I get out? I dont know my way around this place. I dont even know what part of the world I'm in. Did I get on a plane? Did they just drag me a few miles away? I dont know. I start to check Kiefer's pockets, trying hard not to wake him. The only thing in any of his pockets is one single sheet of folded up paper. Looks old too. I unfold the paper quietly. It's a drawing of a woman I've never seen before. She looked young, maybe 24. It looks somewhat like Kiefer, the same sad face and small mouth. His mother possibly? A silent tear is falling down her cheek. She's standing in front of a small waterfall. Obviously it was drawn by pencil. I wonder if Kiefer drew it. I lift the picture up next to him. Yes, there is no doubt in my mind that they are related. The next time I look up at Kiefer, his eyes are staring at me. "Give me that." His tone was rude, angry. I ignore him completely. "Who is she?" I hold the paper far enough away where he can't grab it. "Is that any of your business? Give me the damn picture." He's getting mad. Oh well, if he wants to try and get it himself, he can. Nothing stopping him. He would regret it though. Death would come his way. I dont like man hands grabbing me. "Did you draw it?" I switch questions, knowing I wouldn't get an answer for the first. He sighs. "If I tell you, will you return it to me?" Thats what I wanted to hear. "It's a possibility." Kiefer sits up more. The

bed creeks. He stares at me for a few moments then starts to answer the questions I asked. "I drew it, yes. Who is she? The woman who gave birth to me. I answered the questions, now give me the damn picture." He grabs it out of my hand before I had time to move it. He stands up, brushing a hand through his messy blond bed head. He stretches. "If you want to change there are a couple more gowns under the bed. No, you can't have any other clothes. At least not until you are done with the blood tests or whatever the hell they are doing with you." He pauses for a minute, as if thinking of what all they could be wanting from me. As he walks toward the door, he looks over his shoulder and says, "I'll tell them to bring ya some food. Eat up. You'll need your energy." After that, he's gone.

Chapter 3 Onyx

Days went by, weeks even. They tested on me everyday. I barely had enough strength to eat. Someone new has been dragging me to the examination room. I haven't seen Kiefer since he left my room so long ago. He never returned to smart off or smile. It's almost like he left. Left this place. Maybe he did, I wouldn't know. The only hall I know of this place is the one I walk to get tested. Back and forth everyday. No matter how weak I become, I still have my all to pleasing attitude. "Don't touch me, that is unless whenever I get healthy again you want me to rip your balding head from your scrawny body!" I yell at the next person who must take me today. The man does not speak, I don't even think he understands English. Wearing a blue sweater under a to small lab coat with dark blue jeans and nursing shoes. His hair way to dark for his pale skin and eyes hidden behind to thick glasses. Why must every scientist wear glasses? Does it make them feel smart? Even though, they really are. Otherwise they wouldn't have this job to begin with. "Hey, you! Yeah, you! The only other person in my room except me. Get out. You aren't taking me again. Understand? Yes? Good. Now get the hell out of my room!" The man pulls out a smaller needle then the ones they test with. "Let me guess, is that a sleeping drug? Come on, no need to do that for the 3rd time this week. Am I really that annoying to you?" He doesn't listen, never does.

Kiefer

Death. Yet another death at the hands of Kiefer Willis. He sometimes loved being a murderer. Marcus, the man who shot Onyx the first time. Kiefer didn't know why Natillya had ordered him to chase him down and murder him. Kiefer didn't ask questions. He loved the thought of Marcus's death being on his hands. The only thing that bothered him, was that it took Kiefer 6 days to track him. How could he hide from Kiefer so long? The best assasin known to vampire kind. He spits on the dead body lying in the snow. Kiefer didn't feel the ice on his body, but he knew it was there. It would take even longer to get back. Damn. He turns away from the empty wasteland and starts his slow walk back to the lab.

Onyx

My head clears slowly as I awake from my slumber. "You got me this time, needle. You just wait till next time." I whisper, opening my eyes to my dark room. I slept through the tests. I really don't understand how I could do that. They hurt like hell. Whatever drug they keep shooting me with, I'm thankful. "I don't think you said it loud enough for them to actually hear you." I sit up so fast, my head spins. "Well, Natillya, looks like I finally get to see you again. This place has me running everywhere, sorry I didn't drop by earlier." She smiles. Sitting in an all new desk chair. She's wearing a blue v-neck and black dress pants. Along with high heels and pearls around her slim neck. "Lets get serious, Onyx." Her face returns to its usually pinched look. "Why, I am serious. If I knew where you've been, well, I would have had a wonderful time there." If only I was stronger. I could easily take her down. I miss turning into my other half. My deathly panther style. Natillya's eyes grow darker as she stands up and walks over to my bed. I glare up at her. "I'm here to murder you, Onyx. There is no more need for you here. All I needed you for was your blood and now that we have more than needed, you can go. Not just free of this lab and me, but free from the whole world and its cruelty."

Kiefer

It's 3 o'clock in the morning and Kiefer is less than a mile away from the lab. Thats exactly how he heard a scream that will run through his head for years. Onyx. He held his breath for less than a second, then ran toward the sound. He made it there in seconds. The room was empty except for Onyx. Laying there, not moving. He moves closer to her, noticing that her breath was

coming fast. She's dreaming. A sigh of relief escapes his lips. He bends down and shakes her shoulder lightly. "Onyx, its just a dream. Get your ass up before you wake the entire lab." Even he could tell he sounded tired. She opened her eyes, jumping away from him as soon as they focused. Then she sighs just as he did before. "Kiefer, what do you want?" He takes a deep breath, then speaks slowly. "I heard you scream. Thought someone had finally murdered you. I came running because I want to have front row seating." His cocky smile comes out. He was lying of course, but she knew that. "Well, sorry to dissapoint, but no show tonight." Her smile is just the right amount of sarcasim and sleepiness all in one.
