This tour includes the most significant places

in the capital and surrounding towns. Only a
few places are listed below.
We visit the presidential residence at

Bessastaðir as well as Hafnarfjörður,
the town where the “hidden people”
and humans live together in harmony.
There we also visit the old fishing harbour
and when possible, the fish market.
In Reykjavik we go to restaurant Perlan,

which is built on water tanks that hold the
city’s hot water supply. There we can enjoy
the spectacular view over Reykjavík and it’s

enables visitors to experience some of the
most exciting natural phenomena Iceland
has to offer.
We visit Þingvellir, where the Icelandic

parliament Alþingi was established in 930.
Geologically it is unique since here the

This popular excursion introduces you to

some of the best-known natural phenomena
in Iceland. We visit Nesjavellir power plant,
high temperature geothermal area situated
in the picturesque landscape of Lake
Þingvallavatn.

parliament Alþingi was founded in 930,

The tour starts with a visit to Gljúfrasteinn

where the Nobel Prize winner for Literature
in 1955, Halldór Laxness lived with his
family. The house has now been converted
into a museum where the author’s home

After leaving the capital we head to the

Reykjanes peninsula where the mid Atlantic
ridge rises from the ocean. More than half
of the peninsula is covered with lava flows,
some of which are only a few hundred years
old.
We head for the lighthouse on the

westernmost tip of the peninsula. This is
a magnificent area with rich bird life in the
summer. Eldey Island just off the point
at “landsend” is the home of one of the
largest breeding colonies of the magnificent
Northern Gannet.
From there we continue through the

lava fields to a nearby fishing village of
Grindavík.
Our next stop is at The Blue Lagoon.

We begin this tour by driving over the

mountain Hellisheiði towards Selfoss. We
visit Seljalandsfoss waterfall and walk into
the rugged gorge of Stakkholtsgjá.
Our main attraction is Þórsmörk (i.e. Thor’s

Woodland), a nature reserve shielded on
three sides by glaciers and mountains.
There are a multitude of small gullies and
valleys, clad with low birch-trees that

lagoon, Jökulsárlón, often referred to as

the world’s top ten diving site Silfra situated
in the National Park, Þingvellir.
Silfra is actually a crack/fissure in the face of

the earth between the Euroasian plate and
the American plate. Silfra has a constant
temperature of 1-3°C all year around. You
can swim out the crack effortless because
of a mild current pushing you.
Silfra offers open water diving, caving and

deep diving, but the depth is about 40
meters open water and 60 meters inside of
a cave. Weather does not play any part in
diving in Silfra, except it’s more beautiful in
sunny weather.

equipped with huge tyres but that is only a minor part of
the modification. They are rebuilt so they can drive on
glaciers, heavy snow, deserts, over glacier rivers and
