After having provided an overview on the current standing of the OEM with regards to various aspects including sales, financial performance, product line-up and the macroeconomic environment, the report analyses the production strategy of the car maker going through the operations, revealing where volumes are expected to occur at a geographical and program level and deciphering the car maker's platform strategy. The core topic is the analysis of the car maker's purchasing strategy with a focus on the most critical areas of the interface with its supply base involving supplier selection, price policy, quality approach, R&D and modules and systems. Based on original research and SupplierBusiness' well–established surveys of working experiences with OEMs over the last few years, the report also provides the opportunity to grasp how current suppliers rate OEMs about a complete range of aspects that really matter to the supply base. The report includes the SWOT analysis of supplying the OEM along with IHS Global Insight's much respected Forward Model Programs and a list of the major suppliers by component sector. Thanks to its added value and unique insight, the report is a must for those suppliers looking to re–optimise their customer portfolio in light of the major changes currently underway in the global automotive sector. Research background Europe's first car maker VW is poised to put an end to one of the most famous sagas in the history of the automotive industry. The merger with Zuffenhausen-headquartered Porsche should be completed before 2011, though the process will not be without pain for the Wolfsburg carmaker, putting its currently safe financial position under strain. Nonetheless Volkswagen's high appeal among customers and suppliers is untarnished. Its products, spanning from the more mainstream brands Seat and Skoda, to premium brands such as Audi, benefit from strong brand positioning in their respective segments with an overall balanced product line-up. VW is the market leader in Europe as well as in China and Brazil, two of the most promising growth countries. Although not all its promises with regards to volumes of deliveries to customers might prove feasible, the car maker's potential volumes remain one of the main points of attraction for the supplier base, which is eager to win contracts with the German OEM as this allows to have access to the group's volumes. In fact VW has been pursuing higher-than-peers standardisation levels thanks to a sensible platform strategy – its piece de resistance – and have materialised in substantial synergies, particularly in production costs as well as purchasing costs. The modular platform strategy applied at a group level will further boost synergies across the different brands and segments,

The Jetta’s seats however take a bit of fidgeting before one can easily fit into them. Fit and finish of materials is as per the usual Volkswagen standards and that means a very high quality is maintained overall. Jetta will be couple of seconds faster in reaching the 0-100 kmph and proves to be better to drive at lower speeds. The Skoda also . However it has audio controls on it. The instrument cluster looks very much the same as the one on the Jetta however there is a slight difference with the thing that the ones on the Laura are a bit more easier to read whereas the one on the Jetta are more informative. The rear seats however are a bit more comfortable than the Sonata’s however even their back rest angle is a bit awkward. When compared with Corolla Altis Diesel’s 1. the Vento does have a slight edge in terms of rear-seat comfort thanks to the space.

It is the Jetta which turns out to be dynamically more competent than the Laura. However both have been setup in a different way as far as their ride and handling characteristics are concerned. the Volkswagen Jetta acquits itself with a good ride quality while the Hyundai Sonata only looks forward to having a good ride and the Skoda Laura feels hemmed in between both. the Jetta is more about calm composure. it gets more goodies like a powered driver and passenger seat. Both the Skoda Laura and the Volkswagen Jetta share the same platform and hence share most of their underpinnings as well. Best part is that the 16 inch wheels of the Jetta have a fatter section of tyres attached to them than the Laura or the Sonata. The Jetta is the more willing of the two while turning around in a corner. The Laura is no bad handler but then the Jetta edges it out a wee bit. The Korean build quality however cannot be a patch on the quality of materials used for other two Germans. Steering feel in both the cars is more on the linear side and there is no distinguishing between them on this count. The Laura gets a complex stiff suspension setup which boasts of having a lower triangular link with McPherson struts in the front and a rear axle which carries multi elements with transverse links numbering three. All the cars in this comparison get 60:40 split seating arrangement and this makes carrying luggage an easy chore. The boot space is also ample in all the three however the one in the Laura is a bit marred by the suspension intrusions. Bluetooth controls and stuff. While the Laura would skip a beat or two while going over a hump. The Jetta’s suspension is also on the same line however it has been tuned more towards being comfortable rather than go outright for race track duties. While Hyundai offers a remote control for the music system for the rear seat passengers. .
