Basketball
These programs are a great opportunity for you and your child to learn and love the sport of basketball. Originally started by the YMCA, basketball is a fun team sport that develops character and teamwork.

Youth Basketball League ages 5-18: 6 & under and 8 & under age groups will practice once a week for one hour and will play games on Saturdays. 10 & under and above age groups will practice one or twice week and will play games on Saturday afternoons and evenings. Practices start the week of Dec. 1 Games start Dec. 13 Registration: Sept. 29 – Nov. 2 Ages 5-8: MEM: $75 PRO: $90 Ages 9-18: MEM: $80 PRO: $95 Cheerleading ages 5-12: Looking for a fun program for your child to do this winter? Well look no further. We are offering a fun-filled cheerleading program for your child to participate in during the youth basketball season. During this program your child will learn traditional cheers and dance routines. Cheerleaders will practice twice a week & perform on Saturdays at our youth basketball games. Registration: Sept. 29 – Nov. 2 Season: January 10 – February 15, 2009 MEM: $85 PRO: $100

Itty Bitty Basketball ages 3-4: For the first week, kids will practice and learn the basic fundamentals of basketball. The next five weeks of the program they will play scheduled games. Saturday mornings, beginning Jan. 10 Registration: Sept. 29 – Nov. 2 MEM: $70 PRO: $85

Cheerleading

Youth Indoor Soccer ages 4-17: This is the ideal program for youth soccer fans who want to stay in shape and have fun during the winter months. Indoor soccer is a fastpaced game with lots of excitement. Season will include games only, no practices. Cost includes 6-week season, t-shirt, & end of season award. Age division determined as of Aug. 1, 2008. Registration: Nov. 2 – Dec. 1 Season: January 10 – February 15, 2009 U6 (4 -5 years) & U8 (6-7 years): Saturday afternoons location: Samuel L. Shorei-Ryu Okinawan Karate ages 6-15: Led by Chief Instructor Sensei Matt Pierson and Assistant Instructor Sensei Stanley Dent will improve your physical fitness; increase your strength, flexibility, mental awareness and self-confidence. Adult Leagues

Adult Men’s Basketball League ages 18+: Join the YMCA Men’s Basketball League for some fun and competitive basketball play. League will include 10 weeks of games and a post season tournament. Team and/or individual awards will be given at the end of each season. Monday evenings, Time TBA MEM & PRO: $450/team

Volunteers Wanted! Volunteers are very important to the YMCA and the community it serves. Volunteering not only makes the Decatur-DeKalb YMCA a better place, but it also gives you an opportunity to touch a life, to make new friends, and to personally grow. • Happy Club Chaperone/Driver: Twice a month on weekends we take young adults 16 years and older with disabilities to activities out in the community (Braves game, bowling, movies & dinner, etc.). • Gymnastics Assistants: Help instructors with children, set up and break down gymnastic equipment. • Member Greeter: Greet members as they come to workout at the YMCA.

Adult Co-ed Volleyball ages 18+: Join the YMCA Adult Co-ed Volleyball League for some fun and competitive play. League will include 8 weeks of games and a post season tournament. Team and/or individual awards will be given at the end of each season. Thursday evenings, 7:30 – 9:45 pm Returning teams: $275 New teams: $325

• Refugee Program: Assist with instruction in soccer to children ages 4-14, or help provide snacks for participants.

• Sports Field Monitor: Assist with field lining, field monitoring and office administration.

• Sports Coaches: Teaching basic skills for sports recreation programs for ages 3 to 18, such as soccer and basketball.
