Journey Group Meets Today – The Life Liners meet for Prayer, Bible Reading, and Fellowship

CAS Christmas Showcase Today – Our Creative Arts Studio will hold their annual Christmas
Showcase today with an art display and music recitals at 2:30 & 4:30. Everyone is welcome for
this festive entertainment, refreshments, and a final opportunity to participate in our Deck the
Halls Silent Auction, raising funds for our CAS Grace Rate Scholarship Fund.

Young Adult Small Group Monday – All SoJ young adults are invited to take part in a Young
Adult Community worship gathering at St. Luke's UMC on the West side. The service starts at 7.

Women’s Journey Group Monday – All women are invited to Lori Prunyi’s 7 p.m. Monday to

Men's Breakfast Returns Saturday – All SoJ men are invited to enjoy a great breakfast, Bible
study, and fellowship next Saturday at 8 a.m. Sign-up at the Welcome Center today.

Neighborhood Prayer Gatherings Sunday – Pastor Jeff and other Converge pastors will lead 9
East orange County neighborhood prayer gatherings next Sunday from 4 to 5 p.m. Consider
joining your neighbors in Christ at the gathering nearest your home: Avalon Park Founders Square;
Avalon Blvd. Neighborhood Market Parking Lot; Stoneybrook Community Park; Eastwood Central
Park; Waterford Lakes Recreation Center; Union Park Elementary School; Tractor Supply Parking
Lot at 419 & Colonial; University of Phoenix parking lot on Alafaya; Cypress Springs Club House.

2008 Gift Sunday Dec. 16 – As you think about the gifts you will be giving family and friends
this Christmas, SoJ is inviting you to consider your hoped for gift for Christ and His church in 2008.
Watch for a mailing this week with a 2008 Estimate of Giving Card to return Sunday, December
16th.

2008 Building Use Forms – If your group has regularly scheduled meetings at SoJ, a new
Building Use form must be filled out and returned to the office. Questions? See Bob Belk.

Christmas Outreach Team Projects


• Christmas Dinners: We will provide Christmas dinners for up to 200 families through Harvest
of Hope in the Bithlo area.
• Gifts for Children and Youth: We will also provide gifts for abused teens living at the
Devereux House and needy children at Lawton Chiles Elementary School through No School Left
Behind. If you like to shop, choose a gift tag from the gift tree in the lobby and follow the in-
structions carefully, returning the unwrapped gift, name tag, and receipt by Dec. 16 th. You may
also make monetary donations to purchase stocking stuffers for the children & their siblings.
Please put your cash/check donation for any of these projects in a SoJ offering envelope by
Sunday, Dec. 16 and mark it either "Harvest of Hope", "No School Left Behind" or "Wherever
Needed". All donations up to $1,300 will be matched by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Thanks
for sharing!

Quilting Team – SoJ’s Quilters will meet Monday and Dec. 17 at 9:30 a.m. On the 17 th, they will
help wrap gifts for Devereux House and No School Left Behind. All are welcome!
Bicycle Ministry – Volunteers are needed to help repair bicycles for people in need at 10am on
the 2nd Saturday and 10 am on Wednesdays. To get involved call Will Stevenback, 407-401-1963.

Cleaning Volunteers Needed – If you’re available Thursday mornings, or other times during the
week, PLEASE consider helping clean the building once or twice a month. See Bob Belk today!

Interfaith Hospitality Network Sign-Up Next Sunday – Sign up begins next Sunday to fill the
100+ volunteer positions for SoJ’s first 2008 hosting of homeless families, January 6-13. There are
some changes, so stop by the IHN table, talk to an IHN volunteer and read through the job
descriptions. Take a copy and prayerfully consider giving of your time to this important ministry. If
you have not helped before, please stop by the IHN table to see where your talents could fit in.

Sunday’s COOL Begins New Format: Teachers & Helpers Needed! Sunday’s COOL will start
the new year with a new format. Teams of teachers, helpers, check-in assistants, and subs are
now being recruited. Check the sign in poster in the lobby today or see Nicole Eastwood!

Paid Nursery Attendant Opening –SoJ is still looking to hire a part-time nursery attendant to
work Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. If you, or someone you know is interested, see Nicole
Eastwood. Kathy Raue is filling in until we find someone. Thanks, Kathy!

Youth Recycling Project – SoJ’s youth recycle inkjet, laser cartridges, AND cell phones. Please
bring your empty cartridges and unused cell phones to the Welcome Center and drop them
into the appropriate boxes. Thanks for partnering with us in this fundraiser!

SoJ Hosts Cub Scout Pack – SoJ sponsors Cub Scout Pack 134 at 7 p.m. on Monday nights. Boys
6 to 11 years old interested in being a Cub Scout should contact Chuck Call @ 407-375-4548.

Trim Worship Center Trees, Dec. 12 – Stick around after Wednesday Night Live activities Dec.
12th (from 8:15 to 9 p.m.) to decorate the Worship Center trees! (This is a new day and time.)

Poinsettias Needed – We will decorate our worship center for Christmas with 40 poinsettias. We
have ordered them for $6.00 each. To purchase one or more to give In Memory Of or In Honor Of
or In Thanks For someone please sign-up and pay by Sunday, December 16th.

Christmas Eve Volunteers Needed – Families to greet, usher, help with communion, the Wel-
come Center and the nursery for Christmas Eve are needed. Sign-up at the Welcome Center.

Alternative Christmas Gift Idea! For the “person who has everything”, consider buying a bag
of stucco to waterproof a mud block home in Burundi in their honor! One $20 bag will cover ½ a
house. Two bags will waterproof the entire home! Nearly 100 bags have been purchased so far! A
card will be provided to announce your gift. This would be a great gift for birthdays and other
special occasions too! See Patti Linman.

Children's Choir / Sunday’s COOL Christmas Program – The Children’s Choir will meet
Wednesday at 7 p.m. to continue preparing for the Sunday’s COOL Christmas Program during the
beginning of both services on Sunday, December 23rd.

Joy Singers – This adult choir is for anyone, regardless of experience! They meet Wednesdays
from 7-8 p.m. in the worship center, and sing occasionally on Sunday mornings to provide special
music or added support to the worship team.

Christmas Eve Instruments – We will once again be creating an ensemble of brass and
woodwinds to play for our 5 and 7:30p.m. Christmas Eve services. If interested, contact Phil Greve.

Joyful Noise – This is the Sunday morning worship team, which prepares new music each week to
lead our congregation in worship at 9:00 and 10:45. If interested, see Phil about taking a Musical
Gifts Assessment to be a part of this group.

Drama Team – SoJ's Drama Team consists of writers and actors who are interested in utilizing
their talents in short skits to enhance the worship experience. If you would like to be involved in
the Drama Team, please contact Sandy and Doug Gaston at 407-382-4027.

Private Music Lessons – SoJ’s Creative Arts Studio has 12 instructors teaching almost every
instrument and voice. For more information or to register, pick up a flyer in the Welcome Center.
