WANT SOME DIRTY ROCK'N'ROLL?
LOS CHICOS We Sound Amazing But We Look Like Shit
7" sIngle and Download
From Madrid, Spain, this is a six-man rock'n'roll machine (with a line up that makes the Cramps audience at Napa State look normal) constructed from the best parts of real rhythm'n'blues, raucous garage rock, gritty pub'n'punk rock...and a good measure of gospel. They put all those ingredients into the mix ... and then kick the livin' shite out of it.

THE ROUTES Do What's Right By You
7" sIngle and Download
This trio comes from Japan with a sound that's tough, breakneck yet soulful, with freaked-out lOOmph fuzz-bucket guitar garage rock'n'roll, and all executed with more than the usual amount of frenziedly prim itive zeaI, but all delivered by peopl e who actu ally know what they're doinq; this is no thrashing around garage-punkby-numbers.

THE DUSTAPHONICS Burlesque Queen
7" sIngle and Download
With a pure sound and a unique attitude, mixing the wild blast of vintage soul and rhythrn'n'blues, the energy of '50s rock'n'roll, the freshness of early-'60s surf-beat, the intensity of garage-rock - courtesy of Yvan Serrano, Bruce Brand and John Gibbs- along with a singer who gets compared with the great, raucous sounds of Ike & Tina Turner.

The Sonics! There was high expectation. Twoyears ago they played to a near 2500 capacity crowd and now we were in the way more intimate albeit soulless 650 capacity 229 main venue. We seemed to wait for ages, which led to a whole lotta drinkin' until a couple of go-godancers finally got up to keep our attention 'til show time. Then, the houselights went down, and the crowd went wild! I remember goin' crazy with excitement but sadly my memory refuses to recall what the opening song was, typical! However, like the previous time, once they settled in to their rhythm and the bullshit problems with the keys were sorted out they kicked out 'Have Love','Keep a Knockin','Don't Be Afraid','Boss Hoss' and 'Lucille' one after the other transporting my mind back to some imaginary tiny gig in early 60's Tacoma W.A

The vocal duties were shared amon~st original members Roslie (ke¥s/lead vox) and Lind (sax/harp) and 'new kid' Freddie Dennis. Dennis replacing original bass man, Andy Parypa, brother of still present LARRY PARYPA lead guitarist and vocalist Larry. Original beat man Bob Bennett was absent, with Ricky Lynn Johnson his more than adequate successor rThe official website says Bennett and AParypa are 'unable to fly'). !IONICS Out of all those doin' the hollerin' it was surprisingly Dennis who let rip the most and on hearing him , you woulda thought he was the guy res onsible for ';Z .. the screamin' WO sll!on ..., .. Time flew by, beer flew over head and I forgot about the aforementioned dull box of a venue. An encore or two later and they disappeared backstage for good. Wow!They've still got It and if the trend continues then selfishly I'm hoping they retum to an even smaller venue. We made our way to Warren St tube armed with more booze to see us back to the coast and me thinking if only that venue could be Hector's here in Brighton. Say Chris, how much we got stashed under that Stay Sick mattress again? -Neil Sick
