case STUDY United States Military Base

A United States military base was being fined an average of $38,000 per month by the E PA f o r e m i s s i o n s v i o l a t i o n s f r o m i t s v e h i c l e s a n d m a c h i n e r y. Any decrease in

emissions would result in major reductions in monthly fines and would save the base a significant amount of money that could be used elsewhere. machines for the emissions test. The vehicles ranged in age and type and the machines. Baseline miles per gallon and emissions readings were taken prior to the test period. The four different emissions readings were carbon monoxide, nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide, and NOx emissions. After the baseline readings, CleanBoost™ combustion catalyst was added to the vehicles and machines for a two-month test period, with data being collected twice a week.

Performance Testing and Results
Emissions decreased in various other vehicles and generators, including a 90% decrease in carbon monoxide and a 27% reduction in NOx emissions.

The results after the testing period were dramatic and not only significantly increased fuel efficiency but it is estimated that once implemented across the entire base, it will completely eliminate the monthly EPA emissions fines. The average fuel efficiency increase across the nine vehicles was 19%, with one Peterbuilt OTR Tractor seeing an increase of 60%. Emissions saw significant decreases, with carbon monoxide falling over 90% and NOx particulate emissions falling about 27%.
