This high-energy firm manages the social media identity and internet marketing and promotional work (behind the scenes) for small businesses across the country…think of us the next time you see posts from some of your favorite businesses on social media outlets. shift in marketing trends, it is has become vital that your presence through various media outlets is consistently promoted and you are engaging your current and potential customers on a daily basis. Do you wake up with Heel Pain?
I can help!
A fellow Podiatrist performed the procedure on a Friday and the following Monday I was back at work, wearing a surgical boot and treating patients who were more than a little amused that the doctor was also a patient. But their amusement aside, the additional benefit to my patients is that I know what it is like to have serious foot problems, and more importantly, how to effectively and compassionately help my patients heal comfortably with or without surgery and recover with minimal disruption to their everyday lives. My dream of opening a business in my community is now a reality, and I could not be more excited and eager to showcase my skills and services to the people in my community. The feet are truly the foundation to the entire body, and happy feet lead to happy people! This may be a condition called Plantar Fasciitis, and there are a variety of nonsurgical treatments for it.

fter working for a large podiatric group practice on the far South Side of Chicago for the last eight years, I have always longed to work in my own community of Oak Park (ten years and counting). After the birth of my daughter last year, I realized I had the perfect opportunity to decrease my commute; so I opened my podiatry practice at North and Woodbine in June of 2009. I came to podiatry as a result of competitive figure skating. Skaters typically wear a size, sometimes two, smaller than their conventional shoes. As you can imagine, that means the skater’s foot, specifically the toes, suffer. I trained as a competitive figure skater for nineteen years, and the result has been several surgical procedures, most recently three years ago while working as a Podiatrist.

Your Door to the World!

Lydia Villanueva-Soto, Owner Tan Travel 964 S Oak Park Ave, Oak Park, IL TanTrvl.com

as part of Apple Vacations’ Golden Apple Travel Agency program. Due to her dedication to her family, she is also involved with the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at Irving Elementary School and the Huskie Booster Club at Oak Park River Forest High School, where her two sons attend. What do you enjoy the most within your business? My clients! That’s what we specialize in—excellent customer service. I help clients fulfill their travel dreams and having the opportunity to hear their feedback once they return is priceless. Why should people use travel agents? I am a real person. You can talk to me and I can provide you with expert advice. Thatcannot be matched on the Internet. Also, if something goes wrong on your trip, you’re in another country and there could be a language barrier. The Internet isn’t going to be able to help you in distress, but I can. People think they get better deals online, that’s not always true. We are able to price match most internet rates on vacation packages and we do not charge a fee to book a vacation. What sets you apart from your competitors? I have been very fortunate to travel to most of the destinations I sell. From that I provide personal knowledge , experience and expertise. I consider myself kind of a travel therapist . I listen to your needs, budget concerns and expectation. From there I work with you to find the best travel options for you. I’m also a lot easier to talk to then a computer. What is your business philosophy? My clients are my niche, and at Tan Travel you will always receive the best customer experience possible. You are number one. We are the vacation whispers and can make your travel dreams come true. What do you feel has been your greatest success? Surviving this economy and knowing it can only get better as well as being fortunate to own and operate a successful business in a great community like Oak Park.

ocated in Austin, but serving all of Chicagoland, MindBloom Preschool of Chicago is a distinguishable and affordable mixture of solid educational values and real world experiences. Founded by Susan Banks (Susan), who is a product of Chicago’s Austin neighborhood, MindBloom teaches children ages 2-5 HOW to learn and provides them with access to education that WORKS, regardless of who they are or where they live. How Susan’s Mind Bloomed Through God’s grace and her parents’ involvement, Susan’s zeal for learning and teaching others began early in her life. Early on, Susan competed in numerous spelling bees and academic decathlons in middle school. In high school, Susan excelled in honors courses and the Latin Olympics, winning medals, and was paid by the Chicago Board Of Education to tutor Latin and other subjects part-time. These experiences encouraged Susan to become an Educator, in addition to her dream of becoming an Attorney. After earning several awards and corporate scholarships, Susan

completed college and entered law school, earning both JD and LL.M. degrees in just 3½ years. Washington, DC was the next journey, where Susan tutored again and also practiced Corporate Litigation for nearly 10 years before returning to Chicago to fulfill her mission of empowering others through education. In 2010, Susan created MindBloom Preschool Of Chicago, to become an effective childcare resource to parents of pre-kindergarten children who demand a stellar education. Susan’s small program is modeled after private schools where students excel in academics and in life. A colorful house and adjoining lot Susan purchased for her departed mother, serves as the preschool’s site, boldly encouraging any entering child or adult to “Dare to be Remarkable” and to “Bloom Where You Are Planted,” as etched on the front steps. To discover more about MindBloom, visit www. mindbloompreschoolofchicago.com, or call Susan Banks at 773-287-1277.

AltCare Brings Laser Treatment to Oak Park
The laser released it. Nine years ago, the US Food and Drug Administration cleared ML830 Low Level Laser for non-surgical treatment and management of carpal tunnel syndrome. There are few/no side effects, so laser treatment facilitates healing, decreases pain and allows patients to reduce or eliminate medications. Other conditions which can benefit from Low Level Laser therapy include: arthritis, nerve entrapment, migraine headaches, fibromyalgia, plantar fasciitis, injuries and condition of the back, tendonitis, TMJ, tennis elbow, neuralgia, wound healing, bursitis, and sprains/strains. Haugh is delighted to offer this promising therapy to people who have experienced previously failed treatments. “ I am aggressively introducing laser therapy into the treatment of chronic sufferers and new patients alike.” She concluded. To find out more about Laser therapy or to set up a complimentary appointment to discuss your problem call 708 848-9900.

here are some ailments that just resist treatment”, says Dr. Cheryl Haugh, owner of AltCare Health Center. She should know. She has been practicing alternative therapies for over 25 years in the Oak Park area. A chiropractic physician, Haugh explains that light therapy has been around since Hippocrates. But with the development of laser technology, specific wavelengths of light can deliver accurate doses of energy directly to the treatment site. Haugh, who does both joint adjustments and muscle therapy during her treatments, was first attracted to this modality when an anesthesiologist who worked with Janet Travell, MD, President Kennedy’s “back “ doctor, reported he had largely replaced trigger point injections with Laser treatment. Travell pioneered the diagnosis and treatment of myofascial pain. “I practice Travell’s myofascial work every day, so when I read that Bernard Filner, MD worked with her for 10 years; I trusted what he said about Laser therapy.” Haugh explains.
