WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE Erie winters can be brutal and winter comes very early - especially for refugees. They have no way to be prepared for our winters! Catholic Charities & Adoption Service Refugee Resettlement (CCCAS) is conducting a “Warm Clothing Drive” (not to be confused with Community Outreach Group winter coat drive in November) at the parish beginning today and continuing for the next two weeks. Please bring your gently-worn winter coats, boots, gloves, hats and sweaters only to the church sometime in the next three weeks. Place your donated items in the clothing drive container located in the vestibule. If possible, please help us further by placing your clean, foldable items in individual, clear plastic bags with size and gender marked on the outside of the bag? Thank you.
INFORMATION MEETING - OFFICE OF THE TRIBUNAL
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION All classes are in session this week, including Confirmation. We need you to cover our kids with prayer! The Confirmation years are special and at times trying years for our teens. Here at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we would like to pair each Confirmation student with a prayer sponsor from the congregation. This can be an individual, couple or family who is willing to keep the student in their prayers and also, send notes and cards roughly once a month to let them know the congregation is supporting them through their journey. If you would be willing to give your time to this important ministry, please take an envelope in the vestibule near the poster of Confirmation students and you will be contacted very soon with your students name and address. We have 38 young people in our Confirmation class this year that need our support and prayer as a community and parish. Peace in Christ Jesus - Sue Berdis, REL ECHOES OF FAITH CLASSES Catechists mark your calendar for the next session of classes. They will be presented by Father Jim Piszker on Monday, October 24, Wednesday, November 2 and Monday, November 14. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED The Mount Carmel Food Pantry is in need of volunteers. You must be available the second and/or fourth Tuesday of the month from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. Groceries are sorted and this involves some light lifting of cartons and we then pack bags of groceries for our pantry families and assist them if they need help getting the bags to their cars. If you can help us, please call Rita at 8259742 or the rectory. LADIES GUILD CARD PARTY Mark your calendar for the afternoon of November 6 for the Mt. Carmel Ladies Guild Card Party. CHILD PROTECTION - CREATING SAFE ENVIRONMENTS
The Diocese of Erie is committed to protecting the children and youth who are entrusted to its care and to ensuring that those in ministry with our young people are in right relationship with the children/youth receiving services. To share in the ministry of Christ is a great privilege as well as a tremendous responsibility. The privilege is the joy of sharing in the mission of Jesus Himself. The responsibility is acting in a way that conforms to the attitude and actions of Christ. In this spirit, the diocese has issued a ministerial Code of Conduct, which can be accessed at http:// www.eriercd.org/pdf/codeofconduct.pdf. For more information, contact Mrs. Karen Streett at the diocesan offices at 824-1222. Carmelite Spirituality We can never have too much Confidence in the good God. He is so mighty and so merciful. As we hope in Him, so shall we receive. St. Therese of the Child Jesus
