MARINE INDUSTRY CONVERGES AT INMEX INDIA 2011 INMEX India 2011 - the Seventh International Maritime Exhibition and

Conference took place between 29 September to 01 October at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, India. October, Mumbai: Much evidence that the maritime industry is thriving was to be seen at INMEX India 2011, as thousands of industry professionals from over 40 countries across the world gathered today to source new products and hear from leading figures in the maritime and shipping sector. Organised by Informa Exhibitions, and supported Ministry of Shipping, this three-day event opened with an elaborate inauguration ceremony with Chief Guest Sh. K. Mohandas, SecretaryShipping, Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India and top dignitaries from the industry. The event was well attended by all sectors of the maritime industry and early reports show an extremely high level of satisfaction from all participants. The high volume of commercial negotiations taking place at INMEX India means that the event has once again proved itself to be the home of business and networking in the maritime industry. A truly international event, INMEX India 2011 had 8 country pavilions from Norway, Denmark, Germany, Korea, China, Singapore, Holland and United Kingdom. Over 93% of all INMEX India exhibitors stated that they wished to exhibit at INMEX India 2013 with both Indian and international exhibitors reporting a great deal of business activity at the hugely successful event. “INMEX 2011 has been a welcome relief, as it has reinforced the strength of the Indian Shipbuilding industry. The participation has been diverse, and the networking forthcoming. The packed conference sessions indicated a need for knowledge within the industry. The topical sessions included themes that discussed technology for shipbuilding, challenges in training & skill development, planning with intelligent document management, conflicts with coastal and inland shipping, dredging finance and creating world class port infrastructure were a few sessions among \several others that contributed to the INMEX Conference theme - India: Moving beyond being a maritime hub.
