English for University Studies (EUS) This full-time course has four entry points and is for international students who need to improve their level of English before entering a UK university at foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate level and/or who want to improve their level of general English with an academic focus. Pre-Sessional Programme This full-time course has two entry points and is for international students who have attended the English for University Studies programme and need more language training; have a minimum English Language level of IELTS no lower than 0.5 below the entry requirement for their chosen academic programme of study; meet the English language entry requirements for university but wish to improve their study skills and have a period of orientation before starting their university course. Pre-Sessional LLM Programme This full-time course has two entry points and is for Law students who need to improve their English for legal purposes and have a period of orientation before starting the degree course. Pre-Sessional Human and Health Sciences This full-time course has two entry points This provides an opportunity for prospective Human and Health Sciences students to improve their understanding in the area in which they wish to study along with academic study skills. Pre-Masters English for Business Programme This full-time course has three entry points and is for international students who are seeking to improve English levels and have a period of orientation before starting a Pre-Masters Management Programme with the International College Wales Swansea (ICWS). All applicants for the Pre-Masters for English Business Programme must have a minimum Secure English Language Test (SELT) score of 5.5 IELTS or equivalent and give evidence of a first degree, three year diploma, or equivalent qualification. General English Summer Programme This full-time course has three entry points and can be studied for two, four or six weeks. It is for students who wish to improve their level of General English. The course has 22 hours of organised study per week. Classes are offered at all levels from elementary to advanced. In addition to General English and Communication Skills, students can choose from a variety of options, such as, Business English, Life in Britain, Current Affairs. Visits to local places of interest and social events are included in the programme. Tailor-made programmes ELTS can design and deliver specific programmes for groups of students on request. The content and duration of the courses can be specified by the client and designed in collaboration with ELTS staff.

Academic Success Programme A programme of free academic language and skills classes and 1 to 1 appointments is provided for all full-time students who are enrolled in Swansea University courses. Classes run from October to June. Accommodation International students coming to study on a course with ELTS will need to arrange a place to live. The Universitys Residential Services can help. All first year undergraduate international students can be given places in University accommodation if they apply early enough and are staying for a full academic year from September. Residential Services will help to find suitable accommodation for students coming for shorter periods. www.swansea.ac.uk/accommodation Assessment Students will be assessed via a portfolio based, continuous assessment method and final exam. The programmes have been redesigned to offer all students the opportunity to experience the demands of studying in the UK academic culture at a level appropriate to their English skills. If you successfully complete the 10 week Pre-Sessional programme you will not need to take another English test and you will automatically move on to your degree course You can apply for one student visa to include both the Pre-Sessional and academic course, therefore you save money on a visa extension.
You are guaranteed progression onto your undergraduate/postgraduate course provided you satisfy the attendance requirements and successfully complete the continuous assessments. However, if you do not successfully achieve the ELTS in-house assessment standard specified, then the advice of ELTS and the approval of the appropriate faculty committee will be sought to identify an appropriate way forward.
