EXPERIENCE: 2/2000 to Present Consultant. Consultant on computer systems, neural nets and genetic/evolutionary programming systems. 11/84-02/00 Manager of C3I Technology Development, New Product Development, Boeing Aerospace Company, Seattle, WA. Responsible for the planning, direction and management of new products driven by technology as well as research and engineering required for new product development. Such research includes system concept development, computer architecture, neural network research, ATM system design, software development and artificial intelligence development. Previously Manager of Parallel Processing Architectures where I was in charge of all non-Von Neumann computer architectures under development in the company. These included two image processing machines, an optical computer, one signal processing multi-processor and an architecture for the efficient execution of expert systems, knowledge-based systems and other artificial intelligence applications. In addition, I served as a member of the management committee that oversaw the directed research and development in the areas of electronics, computer systems, microelectronics and avionics. The people in my group included computer architects, algorithm developers, system software programmers, hardware developers and microcode programmers. 8/83-2/84 Vice President of Engineering, August Systems Incorporated, Portland, OR. Served as Vice President of Engineering responsible for the technical and administrative direction of more than 125 people as well as acting Corporate Director of Firmware and Diagnostics for all of the companys products. In addition, served

as Project Manager in charge of development of the next generation product a one-megabyte, faulttolerant process control computer based on three Intel 80186 microprocessors and a proprietary operating system. The project included hardware and software engineers in a matrix organization. 7/81-8/83 Director of Firmware and Diagnostics, Datapoint Corporation, San Antonio, TX. Responsible for all firmware and diagnostics for the divisions products. The diagnostics department consisted of 35 firmware and diagnostic programmers familiar with sate-of-the-art hardware. Additional assignments included: Project Manager for the ARCnet protocol and prototype for the 20 MBit local area network (LAN) product. Served as advanced system architect and prepared requirements documents and product specifications for the product line, including all network interface cards, hubs and routers. Project Manager for the development of color graphics computer. Served as advanced system engineer and prepared requirements documents and product specifications for the product line. This was an IBM-compatible desktop machine capable of running MS-DOS and CP/M-86. It continued a 640 x 400 color graphics CRT and communications capabilities for connection to the ARCnet local area network. Project Engineer for the Datapoint 1560 small business computer. This was a project to upgrade an older Z80-based machine, adding communications facilities and the ARCnet local area network and generally extend the life of this computer. 1980-1981 Software Manager, Information Sciences Division, Control Data Corporation, Minneapolis, MN. Software Manager for the ABLE program with technical and administrative responsibility for 22 people. This system processed real-time images and provided cues to image exploitation system operators. Served as technical program manager for the Advanced Spaceborne Computer (ASP). Was responsible for the technical content of the $5 million per year DOD program that employed 45 people from the fields of software, electronic hardware, VLSI design and mechanical engineering. Previously responsible for the management of the ASP software group responsible for the development of the diagnostics, assemblers, debuggers and other core software for the ASP computer. 1976-1980 Member of the Technical Staff, Texas Instruments Incorporated, Dallas, TX. Responsible for the logical definition and functional requirements of four VLSI chips which are used in a special-purpose signal processing computer designed for low power, medium throughput applications. 1974-1976 Senior Member of the Technical Staff, ESL Incorporation, Sunnyvale, CA. Project manager of research programs that developed a design for a real-time video enhancement computer, developed a conceptual design for a means of viewing digital images through a digital microscope and developed a system design using terabyte memory of online storage. Participated in other projects involving computer architecture and system engineering. Designed and implemented microcode programs for an advanced array processor built by ESL. 1969-1974 Senior Engineer, Mart-Marietta Aerospace, Colorado. Overall responsibility for the system design and implementation of an image processing computer system. Responsible for the flight program as well as the core memory diagnostics for the Viking GCSC Flight computer. Responsible for the computer architecture and system design of an associative processing following an investigation of the current state of the art. 1966-1969 Programmer, Philco-Ford Corporation, Texas. Modified SDS Sigma software (RBM, Symbol, FORTRAN) to run under the Philco-Ford Real-Time Executive. Performed analysis, design and code of a telemetry processor. Maintained and modified a system which tested actual space capsule soft landings in land management. 1962-1966 Programmer/Instructor, Central State College, Oklahoma. Programmed and instructed classes in FORTRAN and assembly language for the IBM 1620 and IBM 360/30.
