Missionaries to Orphanage Emmanuel in Guaimaca, Honduras OCTOBER 2011
Back at Emmanuel
We have been back for about two weeks now and are glad to be hitting the ground running! I (Charlie) am back with the medium boys and everyday find myself seeking counsel from the Holy Spirit to be able to wisely respond to each new challenge. A single day may include a kid being bullied out of his breakfast, another fearing math class, and another dealing with teasing and insecurity. I am definitely not the seasoned parent or counselor, but by relying on God to guide and grow me, I can fulfill his purpose for me here. Your prayers are equally effective in allowing me to serve beyond my limited abilities. Abby has been returning to work at the small girl’s house after being on leave since the birth of Ruth in late July. She is beginning gradually by going during mealtimes, then will ramp back up to full time both at the kid’s house and at the office. Please pray for Abby as she rebuilds bonds with the girls and also for Corbin who will be spending more time at the toddler house away from mommy. School will be letting out in one more week which means more kids to look after during the day. Pray for all the staff during this Winter break, as it can be a more stressful time.
Our Trip Back “Home”
Abby’s brother Gabe got married this past month, which was the main reason we travelled back to the United States for a few weeks. It was great to be able to celebrate such a joyful occasion with our family. After spending some time with the Mills side, we drove to Temple and San Antonio to visit friends and family on the Smith side. We were able to spend time with some great friends from USAA and Grace Point Church, and we enjoyed downtown San Antonio with family. After another week at the Mills’ house, Charlie drove a truck to Alabama with some of our final personal belongings as well as some items we had purchased or received for Emmanuel. They were loaded on a container due to arrive here at Emmanuel any day now. Sorry if we missed you during our stay but just know that we greatly appreciate everyone’s faithful prayers and support!
