Girls on the Run JOCO Growth
Girls on the Run Johnson County (GOTR JOCO) began in the fall of 2007 after a year of preparation, fundraising, and hard work, by a group of committed local women. We have seen tremendous growth since that time! This Fall will be the start to our 7th season, and 4th full year. When we began in 2007 we had two sites; Kirkwood and Grant Wood. This fall we’ll operate at 10 sites. Throughout GOTR JOCO history we have hosted three Girls on the Run 5Ks. At each 5K we’ve seen growth in the number of community runners, girls, and running buddies. Our volunteer coaching staff has grown as well. Starting with only 5 or 6 coaches, we have had over 95 women serve in this role in the past three years. However, our greatest achievement has been the impact GOTR has on the participants. 260 girls have gone through the program, many of whom return for several seasons. Through their increased confidence and ability to be true to themselves, we feel assured in the success of the organization and our volunteers. We thank all of our past supporters and participants, and we look forward to many successful seasons to come!

We Need You to Volunteer!
As we continue to expand our need for coaches, assistant coaches, and running buddies continues to grow. We are looking for women who are interested in working with young girls to inspire lives of health and wellness. Coaches and assistant coaches commit to one or two practices a week, and running buddies run a 5K with a girl in the program twice throughout the season. To volunteer, contact us at: volunteer
