Greetings YMCA Members! Do you ever wish there were more things for your middle schooler to do?

Are they bored on the weekends? Are they asking questions bigger than you imagined at their age? Do you long for help in guiding them through life? I am excited to introduce a new program we are preparing to launch in 2012 FOR middle school students called WyldLife; a part of Des Moines Young Life! Young Life (a Christian outreach ministry currently focused on students from Waukee & Valley H.S.) and the YMCA have decided to partner in this venture to offer middle school students something fun, exciting, and safe to do once on month on Saturday nights. Its called Westside WyldLife Club. BUT WE CANNOT GET THINGS ROLLING WITHOUT YOUR HELP! We are in need of adults to help serve in a variety of roles: Mission Support Team: (Behind the scenes; caring for leaders; providing snack; helping set up chaperones to keep watch around the facility on club nights; keeping kids where they need to be). This team functions much like a Sub-Committee/Chaperone Team for our WyldLife program. We need a team of 6 to 12 before we can move forward with this program. Chaperone: If you dont have a lot of time but would be willing to help Chaperone (or be on a list), this would be an easy investment. The MST would contact you. Provide Snacks: This would be for those who just dont have a ton of time but are willing to provide snacks when needed. The MST would contact you. Financially: While we do no charge kids for attending, Young Life has a local budget to run these programs with staff and program materials. If you would like to donate, please contact Chad Borgestad at the number or email below. Volunteer Leaders: As leaders, our goal is to reach out to, care for, mentor, and share Christs love with middle school kids by building meaningful relationships with them. WyldLife & Young Life are Christian based but not affiliated with one denomination (See the website for our statement of faith). WyldLife is open to ANY and ALL students no matter what their faith background is. We would love to have adults, college age students and high school Juniors & Seniors serve as leaders for this program. They would go through leadership training and would be in charge of planning and running WYLDLIFE CLUB. We need 8 to 12 leaders before we can move forward with this program. We would like to invite you to join us for an informational meeting on November 10th from 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Waukee YMCA (community room) to learn more about this program and find out how you might get involved. You can learn more about Young Life by visiting our national website at www.younglife.org or you may call or email me, Chad Borgestad, at 515-943-3093 or ylchad@gmail.com. I am the Area Director for Des Moines Young Life and Associate Regional Director for the state of Iowa. I have been on Young Life staff for over 16 years, was a volunteer leader for YL before that and grew up as a Young Life kid in St. Paul, MN. I have been married to my wife Misti for 17 wonderful years, have 3 boys; one in high school, one in

middle school, and one in elementary school. Our family attends Lutheran church of HOPE and are members at the Waukee YMCA. So just what is WyldLife club? Wyldlife would be held once a month at the Waukee YMCA. In Wyldlife Club, we will sing some, participate in games, skits, mixers, have a snack, and give a short talk at the end. As kids arrive, we would have an open gym time with a game going on and music. The message, while always centered around the Gospel, always relates to topics that middle school students face such as: peer pressure, friendships, family issues, love, gossip, cheating, anger management, service, money, priorities, and compassion, etc. More information will be talked about at our meeting on November 10th at 7 p.m. at the Y. Hope to see you there! Chad Borgestad Area Director/Associate Regional Director Des Moines Young Life/Heartland Region 515-943-3093 ylchad@gmail.com
