A Christmas

Jesus
I
wish all of you the greetings of Christmas and New Year. Christmas day, when God incarnated as man, if it is to be a real Christmas, then the son of God has to take birth in every heart. We hear such exhortations in every Christmas related homilies. What does it mean? How is Christ born in the heart of every person? Most of the Christians celebrate Christmas without Christ. It becomes a mere celebration of the world. Drinking and merrymaking destroy the sanctity of Christmas celebrations. How could Christmas be made into real by internalizing Christ? The Word of God says: “To all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God” (Jn 1:12). The children of God are those who believe in his name and receive him. Many believe in Jesus. But how many have received Jesus? What does it mean by receiving Jesus? How does one receive Jesus? Jesus Christ is Word of God become flesh. Where did Word of God become flesh? Yes, in the heart and womb of Holy Virgin Mary. The seed of the Word of God sowed there sprouted and produced a hundredfold. The heart of Holy Virgin Mary was a fertile soil. The seed sown by God the Father was not wasted. In the perfection of holiness it became flesh. Jesus grew unblemished, perfect and perfection of holiness in the womb of Virgin Mary and born as the Savior of the world. If the seed sown by a farmer does not fall in a good soil it is a loss to him and the seed is also wasted. Jesus Christ is the seed that God the Father sowed on good soil. These days many hear the Word of God. Since the Word of God that they hear is not sowed on good soil- a good heart, a good outcome does not forth come. Preachers, pastors and priests are simultaneously the sowers and hearers of the Word of God. How many among them forsake everything for the Word of God? For the Word of God to become flesh, how many among them pay a price? Holy Virgin Mary paid a price for protecting the Word that she received. “...looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame” (Hb 12:2). That is what Mother Mary also did. To protect the Word that she received she forsook all the pleasures of the flesh and the world. Though aware of the shame consequent on a pre-marital conception she readied herself to endure it in order to fulfill God’s Plan. She protected and nurtured Jesus the Word by enduring all the crosses and pain. It was the total self- offering of Holy Mary that brought to the world Jesus as its redeemer. For many non- Catholics Jesus Christ alone is sufficient. For them Virgin Mary is just an egg-shell. In truth how gloriously great is Mary! It was Virgin Mary who made successful the project of God in

heaven for the salvation of mankind. She was free to live as she liked. When God demanded it through the messenger, she could have refused. Not only that, she could have lived loving the Word as ordinary people usually do to please God for a while, then forget the Word and live loving the world. But Mary did not say ‘NO’ to God. She lived loving the Word not for a while, but for the whole of her life. Mary preserved the Word she received like a treasure without it being stolen by a thief or eaten up by moth. She protected the Word. What she protected was God’s project. What she protected was the Son of God. What she protected was the Kingdom of God. Through that she protected mankind. Halleluiah! Oh, Virgin Mary! How greatly blessed you are! How greatly favored! How good you are! Oh Mother! It is the Mother’s total self-offering that gifted us Jesus and obtained redemption. Since Mother emptied herself, Jesus the Son of God incarnated into the world. Human beings who hear the Word often neglect it or forget it or do not obey it. Was it not Your total self- giving and selfemptying for us, oh! Mother, for all mankind and for the Father that gave us Jesus? This generation praises and glorifies You, for You have given us Jesus, Oh holy and Virgin Mother! You are blessed, You are holy, and You are the Virgin .Halleluiah! The Word of God on Jesus says: “Though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death- even on a cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name” (Ph 2:6-9). The emptying, obedience and offering of Jesus caused His high exaltation before God. God the Father glorified and exalted Jesus very high for he stood for the fulfillment of His plan all along. God exalted the name of Jesus above all names. Didn’t God exalt Abraham who was faithful to Him? Jesus terms the place where the departed saintly souls were protected, “Abraham’s bosom” (Lk 16:22). Elijah was a prophet. Has he not ascended into heaven alive in a whirlwind? (2 Kg 2:11).If God has glorified Abraham and Elijah, how loftily He would glorify Holy Virgin Mary who protected the Word that begot Son of God, Son of God himself, gave Him unblemished to the world, while not hindering the providential plan of death on the cross but verily nurturing Him for the same. If King A.has.u.e.’rus has honored Mor’de.cai the Jew by giving him a royal welcome for rescuing the former’s life(Esth 6:1-11), should not God the most righteous, glorify Virgin Mary who emptied herself for Him? Yes, God exalted her, exalted her very high. He exalted her name above all names, but only next to the name of Jesus. Hallelujah! The name of Holy Virgin Mary is only next to the name of Jesus. At her holy name, at the name of ‘Virgin Mary’, the one who is to surrender is Devil, the ancient serpent and his empire. What God told him was that She would crush his head (Gn 3:15).His head is his kingdom and hegemony. Holy Virgin Mary is assigned to destroy it. The Latin and the old English versions of the Bible puts Gn 3:15 as: “She will crush your head.” When all names and powers surrender at the name of Jesus, the power of Devil is destroyed at the name of Holy Virgin Mary. Through the Rosary prayer ‘Hail Mary’, the Holy Spirit fills us with the holiness of Holy Mary. Christmas is not only a feast of the birth of child Jesus but also a feast of the glorification of Holy Virgin Mary. How did the Word of God become flesh in the womb of Holy Virgin Mary? Why doesn’t the Word of God that we hear become flesh in our lives? Gabriel the Messenger told several Words to Mary. Which one among them would be the Word that became flesh in her?

“The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And now you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus” (Lk 1:30-31). The Messenger was not making a supplication; it was a command. All the Words of God are commandments. They are to be obeyed. The laws enacted by governments are orders. Citizens are bound to obey them. Those who disobey are liable to be punished. People obey them fearing retribution. The laws given by God to children of the kingdom of God are the Word of God. They are commandments given to the faithful to obey. Their disobedience invites calamities. The single principal reason for distress of man is disobedience of the Word of God. They are not merely the Ten Commandments. The whole of the Word of God are commandments. Virgin Mary received the will of God as a commandment. To receive means to believe. To receive the Word of God means to believe the Word of God. It is the received Word that becomes flesh. When the believed Word is obeyed it becomes flesh. Faith+ obedience of the Word = incarnation of the Word. Holy Mary believed the Word of God and obeyed them. When she believed, loved, protected and nurtured the Word she received, it became flesh. He who loves the Word of God loves Jesus. He said: If you love me, you will keep my commandments (Jn 14:15).His commandments are his Words. Those who love him keep them. Where there is the incarnated Word in one’s heart, there is the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is in the heart of each individual. Those who do not have the incarnated Word in his heart will be in darkness and in the bondage of Satan. Those who love the Word of God, love Jesus, love the kingdom of God and protect it. You protect the Word of God that you received. Then God will protect you. Protect the kingdom of God by obeying the Word of God. You and your family will be protected. Believe and obey the Word that you heard. Then Jesus the Son of God will live within you. You will be blessed. When Jesus lives in you, the Father, the Holy Spirit and the whole of Heaven will be in you ( Jn 14:23). I pray that this Christmas may occasion great transformation and peace in your life. y prayers, prior to my encounter with Jesus were burdensome. However, ever since Jesus came to my life I could even in the thick of life, pray from the heart. Not only during prayer but at all times I felt his presence as someone beside me. Among the numerous saints whom I have met St John the Baptist attracted me most. I have never felt any trepidation during my numerous encounters with Jesus. There was all through on his face and eyes fullness of mercy and love. However, even the first encounter with St John the Baptist was cause for trepidation with his commanding voice, intense eyes and look. A command to submit my life for the kingdom of God and for Christ was the maiden voice that I heard from him; that every believer in the service of the kingdom of God shall labor with great zeal and zest for the Lord; it is the bounden duty and responsibility of everyone who knows Jesus to impart Him to those who have never known Him, he said. Once you submit yourself to the kingdom of God the first thing you have to do is to vanquish the world, was the second message. To vanquish the world means that nothing in this world, human or material shall stand in the way of one’s commitment to Jesus or the kingdom of God; that you shall be one with God in heart and that nothing on earth shall make you retract your steps or agonize you. Jesus may have pre eminent position in the life of many; but commitment to the kingdom of God will fluctuate according to

persons and situations. For that very reason very many persons could not reciprocate fully to their calling and they become unfruitful dead woods and hinder the flourishing of the kingdom of God. Whether I have ever resolved to surrender my life to Jesus was the subsequent question posed to me. Though I had great love towards Jesus I did not understand what he meant by surrendering of life. For that very reason it became a cause of pain in my heart. That part of the Word of God regarding St John the Baptist came to my mind: “the voice of one crying out in the wilderness: ‘prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.’ John the baptizer appeared in the wilderness, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And people from the whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem were going out to him, and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. Now John was clothed with camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey” (Mk 1:3-6). In the Gospel according to St Luke it is written: ‘John said to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?” (Lk 3:7).

John the Baptist who was courageous enough to address those seeking salvation ‘brood of vipers’, was asking me whether I would surrender my life to Jesus. A thought: ‘whether I would have to live a life of suffering, different from the ordinary, a life of penitential suffering’, came to my mind. For reasons not known to me, I could not vouch to John the Baptist that I would live for Jesus. On my reticence he told me to arrive at a decision after a deep meditative prayer. The Lord is a protection, fort and support much stronger than any one on this earth, he assured me. My first dialogue with John the Baptist ended thus. His presence caused a great pain in me. My life was going to be transformed into a different state altogether, I had a premonition. I had never felt any discomfort to lead the life of a nun in a convent. What is in the offing was something which I never wished, a fear rankled in me. A life of a rustic, in a remote village, unheard and unseen, was something which I longed for. Though my life was fully devoted to Jesus I never wished for a service in public, not even counselling service; I had prayed that this may not happen. In this context, the commitment I was being asked to undertake was an onerous task, I felt. For this very reason I did not wish to meet John the Baptist again. I told Jesus of all my worries when I saw him later; my encounter with John the Baptist, what transpired between us, my fear and everything and He listened to me avidly but with a smiling face. Then He replied to me in a slow, soft voice. ‘Getting the call of God is not like the prick of thorns on the body; it appeals to the heart like enjoying the beauty and fragrance of a sweetsmelling flower’. Suddenly I told in a loud voice: ‘I am at peace, Lord; Jesus, you don’t want to prick me with the thorn of God’s calling. Now I can tell with confidence to John the Baptist that I have not received any such calling.’

Then Jesus said in much sober tone: ‘Blessed is a nation which has the Lord as God. Blessed are the souls of God’s devotees. Their heart does not know fear. Because they know that the Almighty is their refuge. They sleep in serenity and rise up

in zest. They have their ear to God all the time--be it in the day, night, morning or noon. Who on earth is suitable to God’s mind? Who will reveal God’s mind to men? The spirit of God. Who has the Spirit of God? How will man possess the Holy Spirit who reveals God’s will to His devotees? Blessed is the one who possesses Him, and he will be the lord of all wealth.’ Jesus has been quoting various verses from the Bible, I felt. Yet, His Words thrust deep into my

10

heart, never to be forgotten. Since I never wanted to cause Him pain I told Jesus that I would live as He wished me to live, joyfully for Him even if it hurts me. I only wanted His love in this life; it shall never be lost. ‘For the prudent, life is a sea of abundance and for the fool, an arid desert‘. Was it because I was an ignoramus, he told me so, I surmised. Then I told Him: ‘Jesus, You know me well, I don’t want an arid desert, give me a sea of abundance (whatever He meant by that). Again Jesus said: ‘a soul should earnestly thirst for its creator; it will lead to the sources of living water. A sheep knows its shepherd. The grassy meadows for grazing and tranquil streams to quench the thirst are familiar to it. In the discerning knowledge that the shepherd keeps a watchful eye over them lest they be attacked by the enemy, lambs have a care-free life. Man has forsaken his creator forever and leads a forlorn life in an abode of fear. Who will redeem them from this world of blindness?’ Jesus might be talking about people living unmindful of Him, I thought. There was pain in his voice. Therefore, I told him: ‘I don’t fully understand what Jesus says. I wish that Jesus shall not worry at all. I am prepared to submit myself in whatever manner Jesus wishes me to do.’ Then with great love He said: ‘Child, I want only the love of your heart, nothing else. What I, his God, ask of every man is his love towards me. I am love; kindness and mercy. My love sanctifies your soul. My love is joy to your soul. My love is strength to your soul. God’s love is healing in sickness. O soul! Come back. Return to the peace prepared for you. You shall love. You shall love your brother. Love conquers the world.’ Hearing Jesus directly is altogether different from what is written here. I felt as if a

river of love has been flowing to my heart. While He was saying all these I could feel His love towards the whole world. He gave me the blessing of the Holy Trinity, as before. I felt that the time with Jesus was coming to an end. I began to think that John the Baptist would come once Jesus leaves. Since Jesus Himself is love, I asked Him what answer I should give to John the Baptist. His answer surprised me. ‘Among all those who were zealous of Christ, John was in the forefront.’ From His tone I understood that Jesus loved and respected John the Baptist very much. With that the presence of Jesus came to an end. When Jesus had left, the thought of an encounter with John the Baptist burdened my mind. My guardian angel intimated to me to ready myself with prayer for a heavenly encounter the next day. I completed all my prayers usually done prior to meeting Jesus, Mother Mary and saints. While reading the Word of God, a powerful presence ushered in. It was St John the Baptist.

“Unload all your burden on to him, since he is concerned about you”(I Pet.5,6). I am Vijayakumar. I am a Hindu. After participating in the Born Again in Spirit retreat of Spirit in Jesus from 25th to 30th Nov.2007, I started a three month educational course on the same day. During the retreat as well as during the intercessory prayers I was praying for the success of my course. I prayed that Jesus, Mother Mary and the angels should be present with me at every question the examiner asked me. As I was answering every question the examiner was asking, I was experiencing a divine touch of the Holy Spirit. Jesus blessed me that I could pass miraculously with 80% marks at the examination. While I had come for the third Engineer examination certificate, I had the chance to get the second engineer class. Since I was in great financial difficulties, during the retreat itself I had made an application for the chit fund of Rs.150,000. I got it without any difficulty. My daughter who was in Std.III, was always bed wetting. In spite of regular medication she could not overcome it. My daughter had passed her Bharatha Natyam dance program. During the retreat I came to know that it was against the First Commandment; therefore I prayed and asked pardon for the same. My daughter was fully healed of her illness. On 16.3.2008, after I requested Marian Koodaram for prayer that I may get the appointment as third Engineer in SNG Shipping Co, I got the news of appointment within half an hour. On 1, April I joined duty. At every difficulty I meet with, I join Spirit in Jesus team for prayer and I experience great peace. Redemption of Damned Souls

n chapter 18 of the Gospel according to St Mathew, Jesus teaches the sublime aspects of Christian forgiveness. He exhorts men the why and how of it on the basis of God’s infinite love and forgiveness.
Holy Queen
2009 DECEMBER

If people who have received God’s infinite love do not forgive their brethren as they have been forgiven, Jesus warns of the retribution awaiting them. That retribution is the Hell itself; but it is not eternal damnation; that is the motif of this paper perceived from

the many teachings of Jesus Himself, in the understanding of which we pray for the blessings of the Holy Spirit, the custodian of the Word of God.

Man who could not repay his debts
God the Father is like the king who settles the accounts of his servants, Jesus tells while presenting the parable of the cruel servant in His discourse on forgiveness( Mt 18:2135). At the very outset a person who had owed 10,000 talents was brought before the king. He was unable to repay the amount since it was hefty sum. In those days talent was the largest unit of measure of value. By today’s standard, 10,000 talents would amount to Rs 20 crores. He was unable to repay so large a sum. It was for that reason he was ordered to pay the price realized from selling his wife, children and himself as slaves. The amount so recovered would have been but a paltry. Since the servant beseeched for mercy, he was let off scot-free, though he did not ask for a remission in the amount. It was this servant (who obtained a windfall remission in debt) who forcefully tried to exact a paltry sum (100 dinarii, about Rs 300) which another co-servant owed him. The latter beseeched for his mercy and promised to repay the debt immediately. It was within his command to fulfill. Yet the unkind servant chose to incarcerate the coservant. When the king came to know about these things the former servant

was summoned for interrogation. He asked: why hadn’t he shown mercy towards his co-servant as he had been shown mercy? Since he could not give a positive answer he was ordered to be imprisoned till he repaid the whole amount.

Merciful God and sinful men
God is the king in this parable. Each one of us is the servant who owes 10,000 talents. We owe a very large debt to God. It is through the sins of Adam and Eve, inherited sinful influences and curses of generations and our own personal sins that we are indebted to God. Through these we are born as inheritors of eternal damnation. This was the situation of all the generations since Adam. But God the Father condoned these debts through the sacrifice and death of His son Jesus. God forgives infinitely those who are united to Jesus through baptism and faith. Even if we fall into sin again, He will forgive us again and again and show mercy in the name of Jesus. We shall also forgive our brethren as God has mercifully forgiven our massive iniquities. Inter personal debts are trivial compared to our debts to God. Since they are trivial God asks us to mercifully forgive them. Iniquities done to us –cruelties, persecutions, swindling etc, however grave they may appear to be are trivial before God.

4

Persecution in Hell
If we do not mercifully forgive the trivial transgressions of our

brethren and die in hatred, animosity, we certainly fall into damnation. “All who hate a brother or sister are murderers, and you know that murderers do not have eternal life abiding in them”(1 Jn:3:15). “ If you say,‘you fool’, you will be liable to the hell of fire”(Mt 5: 22). Jesus says that the cruel servant was ordered to be imprisoned; not to enjoy his life but to be persecuted and punished. However, this idea is not clear in the P.O.C translation of the Bible. But, he was given over to the prison officials to be punished, the Greek original version of the Bible conveys this idea. (cf.Munchener Neues Testament, Dusseldorf, Patmos Nerlag, 1998).

Repay your debt and save all souls
In the parable that Jesus teaches the 34th verse says: the boss in anger gave him over to the persecutors till the last penny was repaid. What shall we understand from this verse? (The Bible commentators do not give a clear interpretation of this). Persecution is till the “ repayment of the last penny”. He cannot clear the debt. Sufferance cannot repay the debt either. Then how could the debt be repaid? A rich person or many such persons could do that out of their benevolence. It is one possibility. He will have to suffer until that. According to the Word of God what awaits grave sinners is persecution in Hell. However, thinking in terms of Mother Mary’s revelation that all souls can be saved, persecution in Hell is till the repayment of their debts; till sufficient reparation is made for their sins before God. Those who are persecuted in Hell cannot pay the reparation for their sins. Their suffering too is no compensation for their sins. But someone living can do that. The prayers and reparation of the living become valuable before God on the basis of the measure of sanctification and fullness of anointing by the Holy Spirit. When these along with the infinite

righteousness of Jesus and of Holy Mary and saints are submitted before God the Father they become infinitely valuable. In that way they can redeem numerous souls from Hell. It was for the very same reason that Holy Mary, by showing the suffering souls in Hell, asked the three children and all the believers to pray incessantly and make reparations for their salvation (Itha Ninte Amma,Dec.2006).

Forgive seven seventy times
Jesus told the parable of the cruel servant in answer to the query of Apostle Peter as to how many times one should forgive his brother. According to the Pharisees one needs to forgive only three times. On the basis of chapters one and two of Book of Amos it was held that God forgives only three times and an error committed a fourth time would be punished. Therefore man needs to forgive only three times and he shall not be more magnanimous than God Himself (William

Barclay, The Gospel of Mathew, TPI, Bangalore, 1984). It was out of his largeheartedness that Apostle Peter asked Jesus whether one needs to forgive only seven times. In that way he might have thought to become eligible for the adulation of Jesus. To that Jesus answered: “Not seven, but seventy times”. It is not that one may forgive seventy times, but one should forgive without measure, without limit and without count i.e., infinitely. In the Holy Bible seven and its multiples are symbolic for fullness. In the Kingdom of God unlimited forgiveness is to take the place of retaliation. (cf. The International Bible Commentary, Bangalore, T.P.I. 2004, P.1374). In the kingdom of God established by Jesus the prevailing rule regarding forgiveness is that one should forgive his adversary without measure, limit, condition and count. God does not permit revengeful acts against the adversary, however mild they are. And God punishes those who do so. The citizenry in the kingdom of God are communities which obey the commandment that ‘ever forgive and love your enemy’ and accordingly forgive and accept forgiveness. Those communities which do not follow this commandment do not have God’s mark of recognition either; they are outside Jesus’ kingdom.

forever” (Je 3:12). “O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his steadfast love endures forever! Let Israel say, “His steadfast love endures forever” (Ps 118:1-2). In Psalm 136 it is said 26 times that the Lord is merciful. If God is infinitely merciful to everyone, and yet to say that He will damn His children infinitely to Hell the moment they die, is it not against His mercy and forgiveness? Definitely, yes. Further it rejects His merciful existence. That is a grave sin.

Undertake the great mission of salvation of souls
God gives an opportunity for the damned souls to be saved from the place of persecution; that is what we understand from the parable of the cruel servant. The opportune time for salvation is The Last Judgment, Jesus had forewarned us in His discourse on the parable of weeds (Mt 13:2443). The period till the Last Judgment is not the time for sufferers in Hell to save themselves, but an opportunity for us the living to save them. God forgives them when we beseech Him for the forgiveness of their sins; God remits the debts of their sins when we pray and do reparation for their sins and debts. Sometimes it may take years of reparation for the remission of their debts. Therefore let us strive in earnest for the great mission of salvation of souls of our forefathers and relations with love. Let us pray for the intercession of Holy Mary and all the saints in this mission. By doing this, we save them; furthermore we obtain deliverance from the spiritual, physical, and economic bondages and problems and above all become the dear children of God the Father. Let us together with all the saints offer thanks and praise to God the Father who saves ourselves and our damned forefathers.

The faithful God who practices what He preaches
Will not God who taught His children to forgive infinitely, forgive His own children? Will He not forgive without limit, count and always? Definitely He will forgive. That is why Holy Bible teaches that God’s love is infinite and He will not be angry always.“I am merciful, says the Lord; I will not be angry

n 15th March (1988), I was completing 10 days since Holy Spirit entered my personal life and I was at Vythiri in Wayanad district celebrating my spiritual ‘honeymoon’. From Suryanelli in Idukki Dist., I reached my elder sister’s house at Vythiri in Wayanad with all the members of my family; it was my elder sister Mercy and her husband James

Njavalli who led me to a charismatic retreat. To make me participate in a retreat at Christ Hall, Malaparambu they had booked a seat well in advance. After the retreat I spent some days at my sister’s home. The day before I was to leave from there my brother-in-law asked me to offer a prayer. Their coffee and cardamom estate was known as Vimal

plantation; more than a hundred laborers worked in that estate and there were six trade unions. It was some years before that the Njavalli family in Kanjirapalli had bought that estate. Constant labor problems were a curse on that estate. Every day one or the other union made problems like blocking the drinking water supply to the house, blocking the vehicle which took their daughter to school etc. Various unions competed in this program of harassment. The night before I was leaving, we prayed together in the office room of the estate. For a few days they were not even able to pray for one reason or the other. At that time I was not at all aware of Satan and his deeds. Actually it was Satan’s work that hindered the prayer there. I did not know anything about ‘binding’ prayer; I do not remember what prayer I said there. But that prayer led to a lot of miracles. The day after the night of prayer I returned to Kottayam. After a few days I heard of some wonderful events that took place at Vythiri. There were accidents in the homes of trade union leaders who were creating problems in the estate. One worker had to be hospitalized with a broken leg after he had a fall from a tree in his own land. Another had to be hospitalized with severe injuries after an accidental fall from a bridge. Another had burn injuries in his own home. Thus almost every home had an accident to deal with. This made them open their eyes. They realized that God was with their employer and that all these misfortunes came upon them as punishments for their faults. Thus all labor strikes and related problems came to an end. It was an

occasion for me to experience the power of prayer. An empire of Satan has been destroyed by the power of the Holy Spirit. God has then revealed the power of the Name of Jesus. What is that power? “At the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”(Phil. 2:10-11).There is no other name or force worthy and powerful enough to stand up before the Name of Jesus. Nowadays I experience the ‘power’ of the Name of Jesus. We have the power (authority) to bind any evil force that comes against God’s Kingdom, the person or the family: “whatever you bind on earth

will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Mt.16:19).This is the most authoritative/powerful word in the Bible. We can bind anything, any problem that comes against us. This word gives us authority/ power to bind any force, power or authority that is against us. There are scholars who believe and teach that this authority was given to Peter only and therefore only Bishops and Priests have the right to use this authority. Actually how many Bishops and Priests in the Catholic Church believe in this power and use it? They are very few. They do not use it either. They even try to prevent those who use it. Jesus said:”But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you lock the people out of the kingdom of heaven. For you do not go in yourselves, and when others are going in you stop them” (Mt 23,13-14). It was through Jeevan T.V. that the first T.V. programme of Spirit in Jesus started. Jeevan T.V. telecast it only for four weeks. At that time it was a channel of the Catholic Church. Of the four programmes telecast, two were talks on the above said power. I preached that when Satan brings distress on the believers, we should be able to bind him with the power of the Holy Spirit. Authorities in the Church blocked this service through Jeevan T.V. saying that it encroached upon the authority of the Bishops.

If a believer is not able to use the name of Jesus and the sword of the Word of God for his own protection, he will have to face numerous failures in his spiritual life. Jesus said: “And these signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them: they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mk.16:17-18). Every believer needs this power that Jesus gives through this Word. One must become conscious of the evil spirits and Satan that oppress him: when sickness comes, his first recourse should not be medicine, but the Lord and His power. It is Satan that tempts one to sin. The believer who cannot bind and exile Satan cannot defeat sin. At a time when I did not have any knowledge of these truths, the Holy Spirit taught me these things through His actions. It was only through the powerful intervention of the Holy Spirit that the satanic powers were destroyed during the prayer at Vythiri. The truths that the Spirit of God taught me then, which now carries the seal of the Word of God have become a means for saving many people. If every person had been transformed and strengthened in the power of the Holy Spirit, how powerful would have been the Kingdom of God today?!

STIMONIES TE

“ Yahweh, my God, I cried to you for help and you healed me !” (Psa.30,2).

I am Mary Thomas. I was ill with Chikkun-gunnea for 7 months. In November 2007, when I came for the retreat conducted by Spirit in Jesus at Choondal, I was not even able to rinse the bathing towel. It was very difficult to climb the stairs. Voice was not forthcoming from the mouth. Though I wanted to say the Rosary with outstretched hands, I could not. During the prayer of healing all the pains from my body disappeared. Now I can raise my hands and my voice is clear. Thank you Jesus! I adore you Jesus! Mary Thomas, Pala.

THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
n 8th December 1854, Pope Pius IX, urged by a majority of the world’s Catholic Bishops, solemnly emphasized in his bull ‘Ineffabilis Deus’; “we declare, announce and define that the doctrine which states that the Blessed Virgin Mary was preserved, in the first instant of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of God Omnipotent and because of the merits of Jesus Christ the Saviour of the human race, free from all stain of original sin, is revealed by God and must be believed firmly and with constancy by all the faithful.” There are many passages in the writings of the early Church Fathers, beginning within a few years of the death of St John, which implicitly justify the belief in Mary’s Immaculate Conception. In the Eastern Church its feast was observed since the 7th century, in the Western since the 9th. The promulgation of this decree was thus a culmination of centuries of tradition liturgically celebrating Mary’s sinless birth and holy life status. In the light of this age-old tradition, it would be interesting to note that prestigious seats of learning like the University of Paris in 1497 required of their students an oath to defend and uphold the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Further, after 1839, the Litany of Loreto had the invocation, “Queen conceived without sin, pray for us”, added. It is also significant to note Mary’s own assertion, “I am the Immaculate conception!” in her apparition to St Bernadette Soubirous at Lourdes in 1858, i.e., barely 4 years after Ineffabilis Deusalmost like a ratification or confirmation of the church’s dogma! “All men have sinned in Adam,” says St Paul (Rom 5:12).Therefore, certain theologians of the medieval Church like Anselm, Bernard, Aquinas and Bonaventure did object that the concept of the Immaculate Conception detracted from the belief that Jesus Christ was the universal savior. They averred that if Mary was untouched by the stain of original sin even for an instant, she obviously did not need the redeemeran assumption that would clearly violate the premise that the Lord actually came to save the entire human race. They were therefore willing to concede merely that she was sanctified in the womb. Such arguments were, however, laid to rest not long after by Jon Duns Scotus, a Franciscan theologican from Oxford. He countered that the doctrine was in no way a contradiction of the doctrine of the universal Redemption. “Au contraire,… Mary more than anyone else would have contracted original sin… if the grace of the mediator had not prevented this. Thus, as others needed Christ so that the sin already contracted should be remitted for them through His merit, so Mary had even greater need of a prevenient Mediator lest there be sin to be contracted and lest she contract it”[In3sent.3.1,Pre illud patet”9 vives 14;171); cf. C. Balic, I.D. Scoti theologiae marianae elementa (Sibenik 1933)35]. Understood in simpler terms, the feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary marks per se the dawn of the New Covenant, celebrating the gracious preparation by God of His people to receive their Saviour and Lord. “Hail Mary! Full of Grace! The Lord is with thee! Blessed art thou amongst women! And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus!”

hen a soul departs the body of a person on his/ her death, it is subject to a judgement - called Particular Judgement - either for eternal life or for eternal punishment or for purification in the purgatory; the Final Judgement which takes place at the end of time only

confirms/reiterates what is pronounced in the Particular Judgement. This is what the eschatology of the Catholic Church says. A close perusal of the word of God, however, points to a different path altogether. Why should we pray at all for the dead if Particular Judgement subsumes

the Final Judgement as well? Final Judgement is irrevocable! Suppose a person has been condemned to ten years of sanctification. If the penitential prayers of the living have caused to reduce its duration to five years, how could one claim that earlier condemnation was final? Does the Word of God say (anywhere) that the Particular Judgement contains the Final? However, the Final Judgement takes place only at the end of Time. John 5:24 says: ‘In all truth I tell you, whoever listens to my words and believes in the one who sent

of the dead that were in them; and everyone was judged as his deeds deserved’ (Rev 20:14). Those who were condemned in the Particular Judgment have been in various stages according to their respective offences. When it is said that the Sea, Death and Hades released all who were in them for Judgement it means that the Final Judgement is yet to come (Rev20:13-14). The thesis that those who have been punished in the Particular Judgement would not be saved is, therefore, untenable. ‘Thus as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so the Son gives life to anyone he chooses’ (John 5:21). For as Wisdom 16:13 says: ‘Yes, you are the one with power over life and death, bringing to the gates of Hades and back again.’ ‘For he both punishes and pardons; he sends people down to the depths of the underworld and draws them up from utter Destruction (Tobit 13:2). ‘He brings down to Sheol and raises up’.(1 Sam. 2:6) ‘You are to hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord’.(1 Cor. 5:5) ‘The one whose work stands up to it will be given his wages; the one whose work is burnt down will suffer the loss of it, though he himself will be saved; he will be saved as someone might expect to be saved from a fire’( 1 Cor 3:14-15 ).This implies that those who are in the Hades are not eternally condemned but could be saved. ‘And anyone who says a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but no one who speaks against the Holy Spirit will be forgiven either in this world or in the next (Mat 12:32). That is, certain sins which are not against the Holy Spirit, would be forgiven in this Age. Certain others would be forgiven in the coming Age (CCC 1031). What is that Age yet to come? This Age is the Age prior to the

me, has eternal life; without being brought to judgement such a person has passed from death to life.’ That is, those who believe in God and live the word of God enter into eternal life on their death and those who do not are subject to punishment. The parable of the rich man and Lazarus vindicates this message. ‘All this shows that the Lord is well able to rescue the good from their trials, and hold the wicked for their punishment until the Day of Judgement (2 Pet 2 :9).When angels sinned, God did not spare them; he sent them down into the underworld and consigned them to the dark abyss to be held there until the Judgement(2 Pet 2:4). ‘The angels who did not keep to the authority they had, but left their appointed sphere, He has kept in darkness in eternal bonds until the judgment of the great Day’ (Jude 1:6). Hell / Hades is a temporary arrangement for keeping the wrong-doers till the day of the last judgment; it ceases to exist after that Day. On that Day, death and hell are thrown into the lake of fire (Rev.20:14).This means that those who are in hell are expecting their judgment and not condemned in the Last Judgment. ‘Death and Hades were emptied

Final Judgment. The Age which is to come is the Age after the Final Judgement. It is the New Heaven and New Earth mentioned in the Book of Revelations ,where there is no place for sin .Therefore ‘forgiven in the next’ means that certain sins would be forgiven at the end of this Age or in the Final Judgement . ‘In truth I tell you, on the Day of Judgement, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.(Mat 10:15). ‘May the Lord grant him to find the Lord’s mercy on that Day’ (2 Tim 1:18). ‘ I am quite confident that One who began a good work in you will go on completing it until the Day of Jesus

Christ comes’(Phil 1:6). ‘….. so that on the Day of the Lord his spirit may be saved’(1Cor 5:5). All these show that all those who are punished in the Particular Judgement can find solace in the Final Judgement. ‘In all truth I tell you, the hour is coming indeed it is already here - when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and all who hear it will live’ (John 5:25). ‘ And this was why the gospel was brought to the dead as well, so that, though in their bodies they had undergone the judgement that faces all humanity, in their spirit they might enjoy the life of God’ (I Pet 4:6). ‘Otherwise, what are people upto who have themselves baptised on behalf of the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, what is the point of being baptized on their behalf?’ (I Cor 15:29). St.Paul is referring to baptism received by the living for their dead kins in the belief that conversion/salvation is possible even after the Particular Judgement. On 13th July, 1917 Mother Mary in her apparition in Fatima (Portugal) to Lucy, ,Jesintha and Franscisco showed the horrendous scene of Hell. On that Lucy says: ‘When the Mother opened her palm we saw a sea of fire. Devils and Souls looking like crystal - like embers of fire - were sinking in them. Others floating in the hell-fire were black and burned human forms. Devils could be recognized since they looked like unfamiliar weird animals’. The scene was so horrifying that the kids thought that they would die of fear. Then Mother Mary comforted them saying: ‘you have seen the Hell where the unfortunate souls of sinners fall. It is to save these souls that God the Father wants to have in this

22

world devotion to My Immaculate Heart. If you do what I tell you many souls would be saved. There will be peace and World War 1 will come to an end.’ (Fr.John Gallery,Mary Vs Lucifer) . Two things are clear from the above: there is salvation for those who are in Hell; and peace would dawn when souls are saved! Jesus Christ after his death on the cross descended into hell and proclaimed the gospel to those who were imprisoned there ‘… and in the spirit, he went to preach to the spirits in prison. They refused to believe long ago, while God patiently waited to receive them, in Noah’s time when the ark was being built’ (I Pet 3:19-20). Was it not these people who believed in his gospel whom he carried along on his ascension? ‘He went up to the heights, took captives’ (Eph 4:8). If so, those who have been convicted in the Particular Judgement had not yet been condemned in the Final Judgement. Certain theologians refuse to accept that Jesus descended into hell to save those who were condemned to imprisonment, though Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) accepts it. ‘This was the first meaning given in the apostolic preaching to Christ’s descent into hell; that Jesus, like all men experienced death and in his soul joined the others in the realm of the dead. But he descended there as Savior, proclaiming the Good News to the spirits imprisoned there’ (CCC 632). ‘Christ went down into the depths of death so that “the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.” Jesus, “ the Author of life”, by dying destroyed him who has the power of death, that is the devil, and (delivered) all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong bondage”(CCC 635). This buttresses the argument that Jesus saved those who were convicted in the Particular Judgement.

It is now amply clear that evangelization is possible after death. If a soul can hear the Word of God and embrace faith posthumously, it should be able to repent on its past sins as well; arguments to the contrary are untenable. Can we then claim (with authenticity) that mortal sins would not be condoned after death? Act 13:39 says ‘ by this Jesus, everyone who believes is set free from all those sins from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses’. It may also be borne in mind that Judas and his followers beseeched and atoned for the sins of those who violated the first commandment (a mortal sin )(2 Macc 12:38-43). ‘He will come amid flaming fire, he will impose a penalty on those who do not acknowledge God and refuse to accept the gospel of our Lord Jesus. Their punishment is to be lost eternally, excluded from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his strength on that day when he comes to be glorified among his holy ones and marvelled at by all who believe in him (2 Thes 1:8-10). That is, sinners would be eternally excluded from the presence of the Lord only on the Day of Judgement. Well then, just as the darnel is gathered up and burnt in the fire, so it will be at the end of time. The Son of man will send his angels and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of falling and all who do evil, and throw them into the blazing furnace (Mat.13:40-42). ‘This is how it will be at the end of time: the angels will appear and separate the wicked from the upright, to throw them into the blazing furnace’ ( Mat:13:49-50). ‘But the legacy of cowards, for those who break their word or worship obscenities, for murderers and the sexually immoral, and for sorcerers, worshippers of false gods or any other sort of liars, is the second death in the burning lake of sulphur’ (Rev.21:8). This burning lake is the second death; and anybody whose name could not be found written in the book of life was hurled into

Hell

H

ell is the kingdom of the Devil, the throne of the ancient Serpent. The Oxford dictionary meaning of hell is “the place believed to be the home of devils and where bad people go after death.” The dominion, rule and control of the ancient serpent in hell make every lost soul his slave. The lost souls who are under the dominion of the ancient serpent are the evil spirits (Mt 10: 1). The fallen angels are also under the dominion of the serpent. They are known as demons (Lk 9:1). The Apostles’ Creed says that Jesus after His death on the cross “ descended into hell” in spirit CCC article 5. By His death on the cross Jesus destroyed “him who has the power of death, that is, the devil and delivered all those who through fear of death were subject to life- long bondage” CCC article 5 : 635. The Catechism teaches that hell is the place where Jesus after His death descended and delivered the lost souls. “The Gospel was preached even to the dead. The descent into hell brings the Gospel message of salvation to complete fulfillment” CCC 5:634. “He descended there as savoir proclaiming the good news to the spirits imprisoned there” CCC 5:632. The Catechism reveals many things through these teachings. (1) Christ descended into hell. (2) The lost souls who were prisoners of the devil were in hell. (3) Jesus preached the Gospel to the prisoners and delivered them. The modern scholars of the Church changed the descent of Jesus into hell as ‘descended among the dead’. They are frightened to say that Christ descended into the kingdom of the devil, that is, hell. But remember Christ destroyed the devil on the cross, then, in spirit He descended there and opened the doors of hell for salvation. “In spirit He descended there and proclaimed the good news to the spirits imprisoned there” (1Pt 3: 19).

Catechism says that “Scripture calls the abode of the dead to which the dead Christ went down, hell. In Hebrew, it is known as Sheol and in Greek, Hades. The word HELL is originated from German and Dutch. Hell is the common name. In the different books of the Bible, Hebrew and Greek versions are used to mention about hell. In some Old Testament books the Hebrew word ‘Sheol’ is used while in others the Greek word ‘Hades’ is used. This gives to the common people an impression that Sheol is different from Hades. They distinguish Hell from Hades and Sheol. So we may understand that Hades and Sheol are the different names of Hell in different languages. In the New Testament we read about hell in the book of Luke where Jesus teaches about Lazarus and the rich man (Lk 16:19). The rich man died and his soul was taken into Hell or

Hades. The poor man Lazarus also died and his soul was taken into Abraham’s bosom. The Catholic Bible ‘Revised Standard Version’ (RSV) calls the place as Hades where the rich man’s soul was taken. But the ‘King James Version’ Bible says the rich man was taken into Hell. Similarly in the book of Revelation 1:18 Jesus says “I have the keys of Death and Hell” (KJV). RSV says “I have the keys of Death and Hades.” The correct word is Hell. A SOUL IN HELL ‘In Hades (Hell) where he was being tormented, he looked up and saw Abraham far away with Lazarus by his side. He called out, “Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in agony in these flames” (Lk 16: 23,24). The rich man’s soul is crying for help. The soul looked up and saw Abraham. A soul can look and see things clearly. He can identify every one. He speaks and asks for help. He is experiencing the pain of fire in hell. Then he pleads to Abraham to send Lazarus to his father’s house. ‘He said, “Then father, I beg you to send him to my father’s house, for I have five brothers, that he may warn them, so that they will not also come into this place of torment” (Lk 16:27-28). A soul in hell is worried about his family. He remembers everything. He is arguing with Abraham for his and of his family members’ salvation. Through this parable Jesus proves that a soul is not dead. It lives for ever. During death only the body dies. A soul cannot die, because it is a gift from God. A soul, whether it is in Paradise or Hell, is not dead. It can move, talk, see and do all necessary things. Jesus says “Now He is God not of the dead but of the living, for, to Him all of them are alive” (Lk 20:38). The dead are not dead before the eyes of the Lord. But for us the dead are dead. Jesus said, “It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh is useless” (Jh 6:63). A soul is a spirit from God. It cannot die. But it is the flesh that dies. (to be continued)

t was a very cold Christmas Eve during the civil war in Korea. One young woman struggled along a village street, obviously soon to deliver a child. She pleaded with passersby “Help me…please, my baby”. But no one paid any attention to her. Many people walked by ignoring her cry. She had heard of a Missionary living nearby who would help her. She began walking to that village. Shivering and in pain, she struggled over the frozen countryside as the night was so cold. Snow began to fall very thickly. Realising that the time was very near to deliver her baby, she took shelter under a bridge. There she gave birth to a son on that Christmas Eve. She took off her own clothes and wrapped them around the baby to protect

him from the heavy cold. She held him close in the warm circle of her arms. The next day, the Missionary went to the villagers to deliver Christmas gifts. As he walked along, he heard the cry of a baby. He followed the sound to a bridge. Under it, he found a young mother frozen to death, still clutching her crying newborn son safely. This story tells us about the deep love of a mother towards her child. Life of a child is much important for a mother than that of her own life. If a mother loves her child so much, the love of our heavenly Father is limitless. “Can a woman forget her own baby and not love the child she

26

bore? Even if a mother should forget her child, I will never forget you”. (Isaiah 49:15). Each Christmas celebration is the reflection of this love. The love that gave us Jesus Christ as our Savior and Virgin Mary as our Mother. Christmas is the remembrance of the greatest miracle the world has ever witnessed, the birth of the Almighty on earth. It is also the remembrance of the silent and complete devotion of our Mother in the plan of salvation. Mary found favor with God; therefore she was chosen to be Jesus’ mom. But because God favored Mary, she was also chosen to suffer. Not just at the crucifixion, but her whole life. Annunciation, Declaration, Conception and Visitation are the mysteries of Christmas. Each of these events associated with Christmas carries the traces of heavenly intervention in Mary’s life. “Joseph went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to the town of Bethlehem in Judea, the birthplace of King David. Joseph went there because he was a descendant of David. He went to register with Mary, who was promised in

marriage to him. She was pregnant, and while they were in Bethlehem, the time came for her to have her baby.” (Luke 2: 4,5). It was a journey of approximately hundred kilometers, traveling over hills and valleys, which would likely have made the trip even harder. We do not know the mode of their travel. Whether on Her foot or on the back of a donkey, it wasn’t easy journey for a woman nearing the end of her pregnancy, knowing that the baby she was carrying eventually would pay the ultimate price of His life. On reaching Bethlehem, She was not welcomed anywhere. Instead, She delivered Her baby in the darkness of a cold stable, not in a palace. Her son was laid in a manger, not in a fine bed. The long distance, the mountains and rivers were not a hurdle for Mother Mary to come to Bethlehem and give birth to Her child. Though Her life was filled with sufferings, She did not grumble. The love to God enthused Her to reach Bethlehem and then to Calvary. Mary must have known that Her submission to God’s plan would cost Her. But She had never turned back in Her journey. She suffered not for her or her son, but for us. Her

27

sufferings opened the doors of Heaven for the mankind. She prepared the ways for her son Jesus to lead us to salvation. Where is our Bethlehem? Has the path been long, the people uncaring, the circumstances burdensome? Let the life of our Mother reflect on our journey forward. She always said yes to God. She said “I am the Lord’s servant, may it happen to me as you have said” (Luke 1:38). With those simple words of faith, She could endure the long journey of sufferings in Her life. Let us also surrender ourselves as the obedient servants of Lord so that we will be able to face and overcome the hurdles in our life. Let not the troubles in our life despair us to turn from God. “When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you” (Isaiah 43:2). We are to be reminded more than ever this Christmas, that it doesn’t end at the nativity in Bethlehem in a cozy manger, but it is a journey all the way to the cross on the hill in Golgotha on Good Friday. Mary was the only human being to be with

Jesus throughout His life. She gave birth to Him as her baby and watched Him die as Her Savior. The world did not accept her son who was killed like a criminal. How many of us think of the sufferings Mary endured being the Mother of our Savior? Mary had to stand by and witness her precious son being humiliated, beaten, tortured and brutally killed. Let our admiration and love for Mary grow each time we reflect on Her life. As Mary accepted God’s plan, can we accept our life and its troubles as it is? Can we even rejoice in God’s plan for us when we know that it will cost us? The gifts that we exchange this Christmas is of no use if we are not able to offer ourselves completely to the One who came to earth to us. He offers us complete forgiveness, a relationship with Him, and eternal life. As long as we are selfish and in sin, God will remain distant and we remain separated from Him. Let us build a beautiful crib in our hearts for this Christmas and welcome our Savior along with His Mother. O Mary, Mother of Jesus and our Mother, pray for us that your Son may give us the grace to love Him always, unto death. Amen.

I did not give this information to anyone at home since we were in financial difficulties and my wife was under treatment for heart ailments. When I consulted the doctor he had told me that surgery was necessary. But it was not done. During the Spirit in Jesus retreat at Choondal in November 2007, at the prayer of healing Bro Tom prayed saying let hernia be removed, I felt some power coming up through my left leg. When I touched the place where there was pain, there was no more pain or the swelling! A thousand thanks to Jesus who healed me. Thank you Jesus, Praise you Jesus. Chakkunni, Malayattoor.

the burning lake’ (Rev 20:15). Two things are clear: people whose names could not be found written in the book of life fall not into hell or hades, but into the burning lake; and eternal punishment the second death - occurs only in the Last Judgement. The gospels do not say anything regarding the existence of human souls in the lake of fire. ‘When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison, and will come out to lead astray all the nations in the four quarters of the earth,Gog and Magog, and mobilize them for war, his armies being as many as the sands of the sea. They came swarming over the entire country and besieged the camp of the saints, which is the beloved City. But fire rained down on them from heaven and consumed them. Then the devil, who led them astray, was hurled into the lake of fire and sulphur, where the beast and the false prophet are, and their torture will not come to an end, day or night, for ever and ever’.(Rev.20:7-10).It may be noted that among those who were uncountable as the sand of sea, the devil alone is hurled into the sea of fire! It is callous to leave someone lying half-dead on the wayside to his fate. Then, would it not be grievously callous to leave the condemned souls in hell in the thought that they have been condemned to eternal punishment? ‘For that reason, do not judge anything before the due time, until the Lord comes; he will bring to light everything that is hidden in darkness and reveal the designs of all hearts..’( 1Cor 4:5) and ‘whoever acts without mercy will be judged without mercy, but mercy can afford to laugh at judgement’ (Jam 2:13).With the above thoughts in mind let us pray for the salvation of the hapless souls undergoing unmitigated agony in hell ever since the beginning of time, that no one shall perish, everyone to repent and His grace to triumph over justice.

TESTIMONIES
“Our help is in the name of Yahweh who made heaven and earth” (Psa.124,8). I am Theresa John. What brought me very close to the Holy Virgin Mary is the magazine, ITHA NINTE AMMA of Spirit in Jesus. It is through this magazine that I understood about the Holy Mother and the importance of 153 beads of the Rosary. As there was no chance of getting a loan for building my house, I began to recite the 153 beads of the Rosary. On the 7th day God intervened miraculously in my life and had the loan ready for me. Very many thanks to Holy Mother. Through the magazine ITHA NINTE AMMA I received a deep understanding of the importance of Mother Mary, salvation of souls and the First Commandment. When I read ITHA NINTE AMMA, occasionally I experience a pleasant fragrance around. Today when I speak to our Pentecostal brethren, I am able to speak to them about Holy Mother, the Rosary and Holy Mother as Wisdom. When I joined the Spirit in Jesus retreat in February 2008 I became more and more conscious that souls can be saved, that we need to pray for their salvation, that through our prayer many souls are saved and we too experience great liberation in our lives. In the retreat I received the knowledge that when we obey the word of God we become God’s children, and we become heirs of the Promise. Even more, I was touched by what Sr Catherin said; that the Holy Spirit is person, that we can unburden all our troubles and pains on to Him as to a close friend. Very many thanks to God who gave me the awareness that the Holy Spirit is my own. A thousand thanks to God who transformed my life through Spirit in Jesus retreat. Thank you Jesus, praise you Jesus, Adoration Jesus. Theresa John, Chennai

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Heb 13:8)”. He is Real and He lives.

T

hough my friends , family and the world do not understand me, He knows my every feeling, my thoughts, my desires and accepts me and loves me as I am. He is a God full of patience and deals with me kindly. Though we are sinners He loves us as we are and is ready to forgive all our sins and forget all our transgressions as soon as we repent and cry out to Him for His mercy. “For the Lord is compassionate and merciful; he forgives sins and saves in time of distress” (Sir 2:11). He is the God of the poor, the righteous, the needy, the

helpless, the downtrodden, the distressed and the orphans. He is a God who is very near to us during our sufferings and is always ready to help us. ‘For He has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you” (Heb 13:5). Moreover, He along with the Father has sent the Holy Spirit as our Helper to help and guide us in each and every moment of our life. Our Helper, the Holy Spirit is the greatest gift of God to us and is the greatest help from Heaven to have victory over Satan and over the world. Let’s

love and experience each moment of our life the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. I have experienced His Love and His Presence. I also know that He loves each and every person in this world, irrespective of their personality, sins, creed or religion, with a love that cannot be explained through words. He is a God full of Mercy and is compassionate to everyone who cries out to Him. His crucifixion explains His love to us and He is ready to deliver us from the powers of the devil, if and only if we would surrender our life to Him. He has given us freedom to choose between Good and Evil; Life and Death. “ I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses .Choose life so that you and your descendants may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying Him, and holding fast to Him; for that means life to you and length of days, so that you may live in the land that the Lord swore to give to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob” (Deut 30:19, 20).So it is our choice. Please do not lose this chance and make the biggest mistake in our life. Many think that famine, wars, poverty, destruction, epidemics and natural calamities are from God. But this is a very wrong concept. It is not from God, but from His enemy, the Killer, the Destroyer who is the Satan, the Ancient Serpent. “He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he

speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies” (Jn 8:44). Most of our troubles are as a result of human actions. Wars occur because of the revenge and hatred in hearts. Nuclear weapons are invented by people themselves and are used for destruction. Poverty and famine are not shortage of food, but shortage of justice towards the poor and the needy. Natural calamities are the responses of nature towards the sins of the people. “For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God; for the creation was subjected to futility....the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and will obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God” (Rom 8:19-21). All the destructions are the consequences of sins and selfishness of humans which is being influenced by the power of Satan, who is the deceiver of the world. It is the Satan who is deceiving the people and leading them to despair and to his kingdom which is the hell. Please do always remember that the Satan is a liar and he fills the minds of the people with wrong convictions about God’s love, and makes people indulge in sin and worldly pleasures which ultimately lead to destruction. Today the world is going after immoral sex, drugs, drinks, revenge and other sins which lead to the destruction of one’s own soul. Let us always remember the Word of God which is always true and everlasting and has in itself eternal life-”For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what

will they give in return for their life” (Mt 16:26).The Psalms say, “Our years come to an end like a sigh...So teach us to count our days that we may gain a wise heart” (Ps 90:9, 12). Our God is a God of hope, not despair. He is a God of love, not hatred. For Jesus has said, “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt...Do to others as you would have them do to you” (Lk 6:27-31). What a controversial teaching to the world! He has even said, to rejoice and leap for joy when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man, for surely your reward is great in heaven (Lk 6:22,23) .The Word of God also tells us to boast in the Cross of Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Yes, Jesus Christ is the God for the youth, for today’s children and for our older generations. Yes, He is God of even the dead, “Now He is God not of the dead, but of the living; for to Him all of them are alive” (Lk 20:38).He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End (Rev 1:8).”Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, and the living one. I was dead, and see, I am alive for ever and ever; and I have the keys of Death and of Hades” (Rev 1:17, 18). He is the one who answers you when you call Him from your inner heart. “When they call to me, I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble, I will rescue them and honour them. With long life I will satisfy them, and show them my salvation” (Ps 91:15, 16) .There is no unanswered prayer. But one thing we should do is to forgive all, forgive ourselves and to be free from all our sins through the Holy Blood of Lord Jesus Christ. “See, the Lord’s hand is not

too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. Rather, your iniquities have been barriers between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue mutters wickedness” (Isa 59:1-3).When He does not give what we ask, He is inviting us to grow a little towards Him and wants us to realize that we really want more important and precious things in our life, which lead us to greater future Glory. “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me, says the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes...” (Jer 29:11-14). “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; that He may teach us His ways and that we may walk in His paths” (Isa 2:3). I would like to proclaim loudly with the whole of my voice, on the top of the roofs, on the hill tops, in front of the crowds again and again that ‘Our God is full of Love. He is Awesome and Great and at the same time Compassionate. Though I know very little of Him, I know that He is Real Love. He is Alive. He is always with me and more than that He is in me.’ O Dearest Sweet Virgin Mary, we love you very much. We love your Most Holy Son of God, Lord Jesus Christ and we adore Him. Pray for us dearest Mother, that we may love your Son more and more. Hallelujah.

MITIGATION OF CLIMATE CHANGE BY GLACIAL MELT
Large blooms of phytoplankton are flourishing in areas of open water left exposed by the rapid melting of glaciers around the Antarctica Peninsula. As they die and sink to the sea-bed they can store carbon for millions of years.

DEBATE ON ANIMALS WITH HUMAN GENE DEMANDED
A mouse that can speak? A monkey with Down’s syndrome? Dogs with human hands or feet? British scientists want to know if such experiments are acceptable, or if they go too far in the name of medical research. To find out, Britain’s academy of Medical Sciences launched a study on Tuesday to look at the use of animals containing human material in scientific research. The work is expected to take at least a year, but its leaders hope it will help establish guidelines for scientists in Britain and around the world on how far the public is prepared to see them go in mixing human genes into animals to discover ways to fight human diseases. “Do these constructs challenge our idea of what it is to be human?” said Martin Bobrow, a professor of medical genetics at Cambridge University and chair of a 14-member group looking into the issue. “It is important that we consider these questions now so that appropriate boundaries are recognized and research is able to fulfill its potential.” Using human material in animals is not new. Scientists have already created rhesus macaque monkeys that have a human form of Huntingdon’s gene so they can investigate how the disease develops; and mice with livers made from human cells are being used to study the effects of new drugs.

HOW CLIMATE CHANGE HITS DESERT PLANT LIFE
As climate gets warmer, arid soils lose nitrogen as gas, reports a new study. That could lead to deserts with even less plant life than they sustain today. This is a way of damage to an ecosystem, not accounted for before.

TECHNOLOGIES TO HARVEST URANIUM FROM SEA
There are 4.5 billion tonnes of uranium in sea water, a thousand times more than what is known to exist in uranium mines. Uranium in trace quantities is present in soil, rock and water. Bounteous nature leaves about 4.5 billion tones of uranium in sea water, a thousand times more than what is known to exist in mines. Since its concentration is extremely low (only one particle of uranium for 34 million particles of other elements), harvesting uranium from sea is a formidable task. Japan developed a technology by using plastic sheets to which amidoxime, which is capable of selectively absorbing uranium from seawater, is grafted by high energy electron beam irradiation.
